Oh, I'm really envious of this Spa World experience, but I'm not sure about the Japanese toilet. That might take some getting used to.

You're going to love the Rotterdam. We were on NS in the fall of 2022, and did the Panama Canal sailing over Thanksgiving on the Rotterdam. Both ships are terrific and the Rolling Stone Rock Room was our favorite.

Love the National Institute of Cheer and your avatars; if you can't be on a ship, sailing vicariously with fun people is a worthy substitute. Thank you!

Hi all -- we're booked on the January 10, 2025 In Search of the Northern Lights trip on the Vela. Does anyone have an idea when Cruise Critic will open up a new Viking Vela page so that we can do a Roll Call. We're interested in clothing suggestions (we live in a warmer climate), tour ideas, etc. This will be our first Viking Ocean cruise so I've been following a number of the Roll Calls (including other ISNL cruises) just to get an idea of what to expect.

That's going to be part of the adventure. I have spent the majority of my life in the American south, and my spouse chose to leave South Dakota to live almost exclusively in areas where we don't see much snow or ice. So I'm always as excited as a 5 year old anytime there is even a hint of snow. As for missing ports, extended port days, etc., I'm ready for whatever comes.

We are booked on the January 10, 2025 In Search of the Northern Lights cruise from London to Bergen on the Vela which I understand will go into service late in 2024. We've never sailed on Viking, but this itinerary looked very appealing to us. I'd be very interested to hear from those who have experience this or a similar itinerary.

This has been such a joy to read, and I continue to be astonished by you and your family. Let's see: the kids are well-behaved and enjoy visiting prehistoric sites, you all appear to have very diverse palates, you are a terrific writer, you knit (!), you are trivia winners, but not in a bad sport sort of way, all of you appear to be quite fun, etc, etc. We need more of this in the world! Thanks for taking time to write this for us all so that we can travel virtually with you!

The chair -- love, love, love

We stopped booking the thermal spa because unfortunately we began to see people act like some do with deck chairs. They get in the spa or on the thermal chaises and simply won't leave. On a Panama Canal cruise prior to COVID, we witnessed two guys nearly come to blows before the staff intervened. The thermal suite is amazing, but it's not worth it to have to fight people to get access to the amenities. If they went back to some sort of limits for length of stay, we'd definitely sign up again.

Thanks so much for taking us along on your cruise. We've never taken a cruise beyond 11 days (and only one of those in the Mediterranean), and in my imagination, I would love the long stretch of sea days. Your descriptions have been very helpful in imagining what the reality would be like. Hope you get some rest after that long trip home!
