  1. You would be bypassing Customs . I say no way allowed.
  2. What has happened ? When I started cruising in 1976 the only illness that concerned anyone was seasickness .
  3. I like the 8 nighters that include 1 port stop like Halifax or Le Harve .
  4. 1976 my spouse had to drag me onboard our 1st cruise , NYC -Bermuda , 7 nights. Been almost 100 cruises since then as well as I sold cruises for 17+ years as a Cruise Specialist for a large Cruise Travel Agency.
  5. For a first time Halifax port call, Peggys Cove would be my 1st choice . If time permits , a city tour that includes the Fairview Cemetary and Citadel or at least a walk along the water to the Maritime Museum area . A r/t ferry across the harbor sails all day, from there.
  6. It is not that the cruise lines "including the mass market lines" do not permit TA's to discount their fares . It is that TA's are not permitted to "advertise" their discounted fares. You have to contact the TA for those discounts.
  7. Hey . your cruise is over , get a jump on Immigration lines , shorten your trip home time. Lastly get out of the way of embarking guests , as they did for you.
  8. There were some good deals for this May , last May .
  9. Your TA may have not qualified you at the lowest rate . Give them a call back . Cruise lines do not undercut TA's . Any TA can at least equal if not beat your cruise lines online or via phone rate.
  10. OP's prediction of the cruise guests conduct is right on. The Independence Day segment will be mostly Americans taking advantage of a QM2 cruise that does not involve flights. Cunard did a great celebration on deck on July 4th last years cruise . Please excuse us and our American ways , during this segment.
  11. Stick with the upgrade. The view ,as worthless as it may be , is far better than no view at all . Sleeping in a closet as many feel about standard Insides.
  12. Last that I have read , CLIA states that 7 out of 10 cruise bookings are done by TA’s . A cruise line does not wish to jeopardize that supply chain that fills their ships by undercutting TA’s. Renaissance Cruise Line once tried booking direct for less and quickly went under as TA’s booked away from them. Also , many of the cruise line order takers may have never been aboard a cruise .
  13. Princess mini suites have 2 tv’s . Regal class ships have smaller balconies in general than RCI .
  14. Glad it is finally being addressed no matter what direction is now official . But some one will be swimming upstream to dodge .
  15. It was always an Upgrade and OBC if you volunteered and they always got enough volunteers when they upped the offer enough.
  16. Not everyone gets the "free drinks" on NCL as there are lower rates to book available without the "free drinks" included.
  17. You will be fine as soon as the Carnival Board of Directors extends the date (as they always do). That reduced reduced rate applies to travel industry rates , Interline, etc and not the great rate that your TA got you.
  18. In my 17+ years as a TA booking only cruises, Princess was big on overbooking. They would offer incentives to "Move Over" to another sailing and increase the offer until they got enough volunteers to take the offer. They always got enough volunteers.
  19. A Charter takes over the itinerary and all onboard events. A partial charter is a large group with private events onboard that may affect your cruise experience in a negative way.
  20. The World Club Discount is almost always 5% of the cruise fare . Not sure if that includes World Cruise fares also? Your TA should know the answer. No loss of Diamond benefits but will lose those early booking rate code goodies.
  21. On your My Cunard website you can book single days @$35 per day but no discount for multiple days and still references the 2 hour sessions. Just wait until you board then you can also use OBC.
  22. Booked by 6 months , not sailed by 6 months ?
  23. The Thermo pool is fresh water. Back in July we paid $35p/p for a 2 hour session or $140p/p for six 2 hour sessions. Session times had to reserved. Popular times booked up fast. I hope that they do away with the 2 hour sessions before our QM2 cruise in May.
  24. The changes from cruise ship to amusement park all began with the rock climbing walls .
  25. The Sovereign Class, the last of traditional RCI cruise ships before they became amusement parks @ sea. I am all for reusing ship names as other cruise lines do .
