  1. I think the OP posted video is fair enough, although I have only been able to watch the whole thing by going to You tube itself where the video is about 17 mins. Rather than repeat myself, my comments and photos about why people may or may not like the IV's start at post #59 on this thread.
  2. I expect they were duct taping the unfortunate collision damage which has nothing to do with the age of the ship.
  3. Celebrity Eclipse and Mein Schiff 2 in Copenhagen with the (very) Little Mermaid
  4. I think you may even have to wait until the actual day, it may be a case that first to arrive gets the dock or a discussion between captains. When we docked with the Edge, Reflection was also in Mykonos and tendering. In any event, wherever you are you have options and I believe plenty of time for a couple of hours to explore the town and get back to the ship if necessary. This picture taken from the Sea Bus is the stop in town which is the same as the Celebrity tender stop which is just in front.
  5. Having docked a couple of times at Mykonos myself, I believe your assertion to be false, demonstrably so in fact. Bigger ships have visited this year as per this website. https://www.shipfriends.gr/forum/gallery/image/92139-odyssey-of-the-seas_12-05-22_mykonos/ What do you know that others do not ?
  6. Are you sure ? Where did you get that info ?
  7. That solves one problem for the OP, just needs to know where the tender will take them for their excursion, so as a couple of us have said, check when on board.
  8. Sea Bus web site https://www.mykonos-seabus.gr/
  9. A couple of points, Beyond is bigger with more passengers so is more likely to dock. The buses mostly go from the dock so if you actually do tender, the tenders will likely take you to the dock if you are on an excursion, not the town, the ship will use two tender points, one for excursions and one for the town. Also as I mentioned there is a ferry from the dock to the town called the Sea Bus, its great and its stops are right opposite the cruise ship and the same place as the tenders in town. Its a nice boat and you appear to have plenty of time to get to town and back, its far better than the bus ride. The sea bus stop.
  10. If you do tender it's a very short hop to town or to the ferry port where you may have to meet the bus but it seems like you will have ample time to wander around town in the morning. There is also a very cheap ferry from town to the ferry port.
  11. What is your tour ?, some tours start on tenders direct from the ship. My advice is to wait until you are on board before making any plans. We have been to Mykonos three times with Celebrity on Solstice, Reflection and Edge. Each time advertised as tendered but on two of those visits Solstice and Edge actually docked at the main ferry port where most bus tours start from and is some way out of town needing a bus or ferry to get to the town. Looking at Mykonos port schedule for the 13th the only other ship on that day appears to be a sister ship Constellation and I would guess Beyond will dock despite having superb tender facilities.
  12. This is exactly what I did and it was accepted immediately. We had to show the printed (or on the NHS app) pass at the port anyway.
  13. When we went to Valencia on Equinox the port authority only provided a shuttle to the port gates as it can be a very long way from where the ship docks. After that it's still a very long way to the centre of Valencia. The question is do Celebrity provide a shuttle, they did provide one and it was not free. It took you to Placa de la Reina. We didn't use the Celebrity shuttle as we wanted to visit both the centre of town and the modern Museum of Sciences which is a way out of town. We used the port shuttle to the port gates and then used three buses, one to the centre of town, one to the Museum of Sciences and one back to the port, each approx two euros, so twelve euros for the two of us which was a lot less than the cost of the Celebrity shuttle for one person although thats not why we did it. The buses are frequent clean and quick and a map can be picked up online or at the port entrance information office where the staff told us which three buses to catch, the first into town is right opposite the port entrance and also goes to Placa de la Reina.
  14. What route ? Which UK airport ? If you booked with a Celebrity agent in the UK they'll book (at least give you a price for) whatever airline you choose within reason from and to the destinations you choose. for example I always choose Emirates as they fly from Birmingham.
  15. No fees, just ask the dining room host or hostess for a table and if ones free you can go there.
  16. The old balcony chairs seem to have found a new home.
  17. If you can keep control of the temperature (difficult) and don't mind the loss of a real balcony which you can keep separate from the room the IV's are not a bad place. My wife likes them more than I do to be fair but we both still prefer a conventional room because in warmer climates they can be unpleasant. Some more pictures .
  18. Now the IV The IV glass is double glazed and tinted and being closer to the edge of the balcony than the sliding doors get dirty from sea spray or bad weather quite easily. It takes about 15 to 30 seconds to open the window and you have to keep your finger on the button. When the window is open you are looked through four panes of glass while sat on the balcony. The outer panes cannot be reached by a cabin attendant, the upper window blocks the lower when open, thats the one we look through when sat down with the window shut. So you are dependent on whenever the Captain decides to wash the windows so they can stay salt encrusted for several days. Even when the windows are washed by the jet wash they are not sqeegeed so spots of water are left and dry out still dirty. The inner bi-fold doors can be closed for privacy but the only way to block the sun if it is low in the sky and shining straight into the room is to use the blind which comes down vertically and cannot be used if the window is open due to its position. So if you want to use the balcony and keep the sun out of the room you can't. When the sun is low in the sky say in the Med it shines in and the room is like a greenhouse, the air con is not good enough unless the blind is closed so the view has gone. This all clearly depends on the orientation of the sun, the ship and time of year etc which is one of the reasons why I think many people have different experiences with the IV.
