  1. Yeah, but going to the gym to lift included weights doesn't sound as cool. 😄
  2. I'm still old-school, I guess. I bring my Nikon with me but I do find that it comes on fewer and fewer excursions with me...I usually bring it with me on more scenic ports and places where having a choice of lenses might help...but I do find that I take more and more photos with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and frankly, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference!
  3. Well, I for one am glad it's in the works. I didn't want to opt out completely but I hated the idea of tossing all but the annual catalog. I know this will make a lot of people happy. Thanks for the quick reply!!
  4. I know - it's absurd, isn't it? It's all so hit-and-miss. I love the annual catalog but I can absolutely do without the incessant flow of smaller mailings and brochures. They literally to right into the trash. And the SSS newsletter comes when it wants to... I find it hard to believe that Regent can't find a way to tailor their mailings - how tough would it be to have check boxes for the Annual Catalog, SSS newsletter, and the six billion other smaller brochures and then we just receive the ones we've selected. Honestly, it couldn't be THAT difficult...maybe that's something that @Mike Moore could address??
  5. Fat, schmat. Wanna look skinny? Hang out with fatter people. 😛
  6. @moogwan Yep, it ALWAYS pays to check, especially now with all of the last-minute changes happening. Also, to quote a post, if you're on a standard browser there's a Plus sign and the word Quote just under the each post - to single quote, just click 'Quote', and to quote multiple posts click the Plus sign under each post you want to include, a new icon will pop up in the lower right of the window letting you quote however many posts you've selected. Pretty straightforward!
  7. I agree with these posts - I would MUCH rather have a more real-time idea of where my bags are that I could communicate to the airlines than have to rely on their word as to the location. Several years ago we got rerouted on our way to Copenhagen due to weather...last minute routing through Canada, and of course my main suitcase didn't arrive. They finally found it in LHR...but neither our original routing nor our revised routing went through LHR, so how my bag ended up there is still a mystery. Long story short - my bag didn't get to the ship in time and I went five days without it. I'm pretty certain if I would have been able to tell them upon arrival in CPH that my bag was in London, I'd have had it before we sailed. It's a $25 investment - well worth it to me.
  8. I think it's in all of our best interests to check, verify, monitor, and double-check air arrangements whether Regent or self arranged. The air market is so volatile right now - I don't count on ANY flights not changing (or cancelling) at the last minute. Our upcoming vacation flights have already changed two or three times and we're still almost six weeks out. Crazy times...
  9. Yep, their office is just around the desk and Destination Services, in that general area. I think that dedicated office is only on Splendor and Explorer?
  10. Buy larger clothes. I'm pretty certain it's the damn sea air that shrinks my wardrobe when I'm on board...seems the longer the cruise, the more the salty breeze shrinks my duds. It's a problem indeed.
  11. I spent a few years in a Tac Control Squadrons and Air Support Operations Centers - provided CAS for our muddy brothers-in-green - was fortunate enough to never have them (or us) get shot at while I was there.
  12. You're not wrong - always be aware that hotels booked through Regent are per-person, not per room. We almost got bit on that one time...
  13. Wendy - I second that - for us, Regent's air/deviations have always worked very well for us (up to 2019, that is) with good routings and no upcharges other than the $175/pp. I think where the upcharges tend to come in (based on my reading on CC) is for flights through and to the Middle East and Asia on some of the more 'upscale' airlines, specifically Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, etc...maybe someone who has flown these can verify? But for us, there's never been an upcharge flying from Denver, Louisville, Charlotte, Atlanta to Europe or Alaska...but we've never flown with Regent to Asia, Africa, or the Middle East, so I'm sure not the expert...
  14. Jim, never discount the power of prayer...but fasting and I don't get along well. Not at all. 🤣 I'd seen that cruise you mentioned but we're already booked for a Panama Canal run in '23 and the Middle East in early '24 and won't be able to squeeze in another one from both a time and budget perspective... As always, we do what we can to deal with the uncertainties in life...we enjoy our trips and laugh at some of the hiccups along the way. We try to never take things too seriously. We're pretty healthy and happy, and you can't put a price on that, can you? Maybe sometime in the near future we can sail together and have a cocktail or three - that is if you're okay imbibing with a mere Air Force vet. 🙂
  15. Of course they do. I bought mine from them yesterday at full price. Typical.
  16. I just looked online and it's only €250/pp for the trip...not to insane. But there's a limit of one bag, only 21kg each. That's the killer right there. Of course, you can book the entire helicopter for €750, I bet you could take all your bags then, maybe?
  17. Eh, you're just riding in it, not buying it. I say go for it!! (of course, I'd be divorced, too, if I booked it...both from a financial standpoint and the fact that Mrs UUNet hates helicopters) 🙂
  18. We've found that it's pretty easy to get at least another night or two in the specialty restaurants, even on shorter cruises. Check with the restaurant manager as soon as you get on board. It helps to be flexible on your times and to offer to share a table (assuming that they're back to sharing tables with people you're not traveling with directly). The specialty restaurants are often open for lunch as well, and Compass Rose usually has some options from the specialty menus in their rotation. To be honest, on cruises less than two weeks (most of ours) we're usually fine with our basic three specialty reservations.
  19. Make sure you do some research on that - from what I've read (I don't have my AirTags to play with yet, they're being delivered today) you will connect them to a specific iPhone, which associates them with a specific Apple account. Using someone else's phone might make them difficult to track...or maybe not, I'm not sure at this point - but I'd recommend reading up on it before you travel. I've read good things about Tiles as well. I think all of this tech has some limitations, but when I think back to oh, 20 or 30 years ago I can't help but be amazed on a daily basis. Pretty incredible stuff...
  20. When we're in butler suites, we ask the butler for events like that, otherwise we are definitely NOT shy about asking our best friends (signified by the wearing of a tastevin around their neck) to let us know when they are.
  21. You might want to try: https://www.specialneedsatsea.com/reserve-equipment/ We had set up some O2 with them in the past, everything went smoothly. Fairly pricey as I recall but very convenient.
  22. Jean, that was meant as a joke...it obviously missed the mark! Seriously, I think anyone traveling anywhere these days just needs to roll with the flow as much as possible. We passed on a second cruise this year in order to fly to Guam to see our daughter; we'd originally booked a week+ in Japan on the way home but found out Japan was still closed. So we rebooked through Hawaii...then Japan opened. Not trusting them to stay open, we kept our return through Hawaii...and our flight has already been changed 3 or 4 times - and we don't leave for another 6 or 7 weeks yet! I think with enough deep breathing and bourbon I might be able to get through this...
  23. There are usually a lot of very, very nice people on Regent cruises. And often one Grumpy Old Man. 🤬 🤣 😄 😂
  24. That would be fun. And truth be told, I missed out block party in January more than I thought I would...those are a great way to meet people.
