I've been led to believe that positive reviews BY NAME on the cruise surveys are much more appreciated by the crew as they can lead to promotions throughout the fleet. Not sure whether that's true but I've heard it enough to believe it may be. Crew fund is a good idea as well. I don't think we've ever tipped directly on board any of our Regent cruises - and it's not because we don't tip, it's just that I've never felt tipping was required nor expected on Regent. But as with all things these days, do what you want.

Taking Regent provided spirits upon departure?
UUNetBill replied to crispy46's topic in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
I may or may not have a few liters of Macallan Select Oak in my liquor cabinet at home. I was told the same thing - once they've been delivered to a passenger's cabin, they can't reuse them. I can't swear that that's a true statement, but it was all the excuse I needed - or would have needed - to wrap up a bottle or three to bring home... -
Shore Excursions…so disappointed!
UUNetBill replied to Bellaggio Cruisers's topic in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Well, I'd take 'dated' to be on Navigator right now (our next cruise is on Navigator but not until April of next year) - I think this'll be the longest we've gone without a Regent cruse since we started sailing with them. But to get back on topic, Sheila, I'm sorry that happened to you. Not sure where the blame lies, sounds like there's enough to go around - but regardless, it was substandard treatment and needs addressed. I know Regent rank their excursions based on activity level but honestly, they're not always accurate. But to take you ashore, deny you your excursion, and tender you back on board is, well, shitty. I know that I get somewhat frustrated when people overstep their capabilities on excursions as it holds up the entire group. But it doesn't seem like you're even close to being in that group, so why you were denied is a bit of a mystery. I know our online condolences don't make up for being rejected like that, and I hope you get answers or at least acknowledgement from Regent. I also hope you don't let that one experience sour you on a long relationship with Regent... -
Well how else would you get lifted up to a higher deck?!? 😋

To everyone who has submitted reviews the last few months, thank you for your inputs! I apologize for my delay in making updates - life has gotten in the way, and with our next cruise still a year away it kind of brings me down reading CC too much. 🙂 Anyhow, I should be caught up on posting your reviews now. Thanks again!

Or you could just grab one of the free pairs they offer up on the flight over - they've got baskets full of 'em...

I think a lot of guys wear jackets at dinner mostly because the dining venues can get a bit chilly. Even on shorter cruises I'll usually bring a jacket (never a tie, though) and I usually wear it to dinner on special occasions and/or in specialty restaurants. So yeah, it's definitely 'optional' across the board. Unsolicited shout-out: I'm a big fan of Regent's dress code - not too stuffy but enough to keep things nice. And if you dress over the dress code? No one cares. Lots of freedom, IMO.

Splendor Superior Suit Question on power sockets
UUNetBill replied to Oceanviewer22's topic in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
I generally take one 6-port USB/USB-C block and a couple of plug adapters. I've found that there are always plenty of places to plug my stuff in (and I'm an IT geek so I have a lot of devices). Caveat: I'm US based so most of my stuff is the little US plug type...but it's still never been an issue. -
Silversea and Regent - a limited comparison

Yeah, like ice belongs in whiskey...pshaw. (Just trying to start a fresh tirade. 🙂 ) -
question about the Regent's helmet dive excursion
UUNetBill replied to oldfashioncruiser's topic in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
I'm not a big underwater person, never did scuba and not big into snorkeling, but I did the helmet dive a few years ago and after about 15-20 uncomfortable seconds while getting the feel of it I really ended up enjoying it. You just need to be sure to keep you head and shoulders level, and it's no problem. I loved seeing all of the aquatic life up close and personal and when our time was up I was actually disappointed. Of course, some people just don't like the feeling of being underwater, but I think unless he has a serious water phobia he'll be fine. -
Although if you ask nicely I'm sure they'd toss out a rowboat for you and see if you can keep up... 😄

Probably a little of both, I think... I was doing my best impression of the internet speeds on Regent ships... 😁

My daughter (Navy LT, Nurse) is just over halfway through her 2-year tour there and has definitely been taking advantage of being there - lots of hiking, scuba, traveling, etc. - it's really a great 'stepping off' point for Pacific travel opportunities. It can be a tough assignment, but there are also a LOT of positives.

Not cool...my wife could take my MacBook when she pries it from my cold, dead fingers. ESPECIALLY if I'm quarantined and she's not.

I was a pretty avid gamer when I was younger...but I never felt the need to bring a game console on a cruise, especially a port-intensive cruise - too much other stuff going on to play games I can play at home. Just my (older dude) opinion, of course. 🙂

I know - remember the short-lived "fiber optic speeds for everyone on board" they were spouting a few years back? More like 9.6 dial-up, really.
