  1. Here's my assessment after reading the memo and the posts. The effective date is when things change. Existing bookings will not be affected. However, if you re-fare after June 29, be prepared to lose the double-dipping, so I would factor that into the financial analysis. New bookings after the effective date are impacted. Also, anyone with an existing booking who doesn't apply for benefits before the change date will be affected. The big impact is the MOBC, and it should be being applied automatically to any new booking once setup - unlike SOBC where we have to apply every booking. I realize it has not been made clear, but it does seem that Person A can claim and get MOBC and Person B can claim and get SOBC. However, anyone reporting that their applications are working now, don't indicate the future since we are still prior to the change date of June 29. I imagine we will see some sort of PCL announcement, but they won't be trumpeting from the roof tops when it is bad news.
  2. When it comes to IT programming, nothing is simple at Princess.
  3. True enough and it gets some confused because one would have to be at the Elite level in order to get the other program benefits.
  4. IMO, these threads do more damage than mentioning TA's. Guests should learn and find out from others on board. But I suppose some other social media will have it as well. Been a lot of posts on this lately. The thing is, you can charge the cabin to gamble in the casino - it's not a ATM.
  5. Been working like this for a long time now.
  6. She gave incorrect information at least once during that segment. She doesn't sound like any experience with it - just reading what someone else said.
  7. Deck 6 MId-ship is my "go-to" as well. I believe Symphony is being held out of DMW advance booking as they must be intending it for walk-ups or perhaps to address guests who want the TD experience and they can lock in a table so folks have same waiters each night. I do not imagine each ship is uniform and can depend on how the mgmt team is running things.
  8. My recollection and experience is that they held those on the pre-Royal Class ships on occasion. Perhaps because those ships don't have the special dining section for Lumiere and WMD as on the Royal Class ships. That said, WMD is changing and have not read any reports of anyone actually doing it (but then, who would for $140/pp when you can do Chef Table Lumiere for less?). I have been to one of these dinners you describe on Island in Winter 2018. It was a long voyage around S.A. and they held three of them.
  9. I can attest to that. Our friends very recently booked a Caribbean/Panama Cancel voyage for Jan 2024 and almost immediately the booking was in the Princess App and they made dining res right away. All looking good and they had a devil of a time with it back in 2022 for a time. Admittedly, our voyages last Fall were B2B's and the App seems much happier dealing with single bookings.
  10. Sure, but it feels good anyway. Makes things "official" like.
  11. I think it can be useful if your cabin is in the aft section of the ship, but it is not where I prefer to be.
  12. No one really knows much other than from Princess hype and artist renderings. It is like no other PCL ship and that is why I am interested in trying it out. It could be a cruise to nowhere for all I care.
  13. Symphony will only have a section for Reserve Class dining and rest open. I have notice that Princess is often or always keeping one DR out of DMW pre-cruise. Perhaps this helps them better manage on-board requests. You can figure out on board whether better to head for Symphony or Concerto for walk-up dining. They will probably advise you. Symphony may appear on DMW by sail date. You cannot pay for SD reservation other than credit card or existing SD credit. Just book it as soon as you can after boarding and should work and then you pay with OBC. PS - If you read 1963 posts, amazing feat.
  14. Not really. Some people decorate cabin doors. When the cake comes to dining table, the waiters will gather round and sing, unless you request No Thanks.
  15. CC/Reserve wouldn't be in the aft DR. It is in the mid-ship DR that is open for breakfast and lunch. This is a general statement for all ships.
  16. There is normally a couple of English brews (especially in Europe region?) and Guinness I believe.
  17. Do the booking with wife name first and you as cabinmate (second person).
  18. After reading the most recent posts, I create this example of a couple. Both have Military eligibility and both own >= 100 shares of Carnival Corp. One of them can claim SH OBC and one can claim Military. Or, both can claim Military. Whatever is claimed is Non-Ref OBC.
  19. I have read a post or two on here where two unrelated persons (different addresses and investment accounts) separately filed for SH OBC and each got it. I suspect it was more of a HQ audit/control slip that allowed it to happen. Doesn't seem to be a regular occurrence.
  20. This seems to answer the question for couples that qualify for both OBC's. One can have Military and the other Shareholders.
  21. You can use the FCD anytime to spend it, but benefit only applies with initial deposit. You would have to cancel (assuming no penalties involved) and re-book using the FCD to pay the new deposit.
  22. There was a policy change some time back that was widely discussed on here. I forget the effective date, but it is in effect now that you can purchase on board.
