  1. The CBSA already knows you completed it because it’s tied to your passport.
  2. Government of Canada COVID-19 Cruise Ship Travel Requirements
  3. Depends whose opinion you read. The waiver didn’t force Canada to open for that particular cruise season. It has an east coast too. I don’t know where you’re getting your information but all cruises which dock in Canada at any point in the itinerary require a pre-embarkation covid test.
  4. That literally made me LOL. Getting Screeched In: LINK
  5. The tech-challenged should bring hard copies of whatever documents they require. Even, then, there will be those who don’t have a clue what documents they require, whether they have smart devices or not.
  6. I know it’s been removed for 3 of HAL’s cruises (so far) and a number of river cruises and others in Europe. I imagine we’ll be hearing of more soon. Yay!
  7. Had to google that: CDC Cruise Ship Guidance
  8. HAL deploys its ships to Europe, Alaska, and the East Coast of Canada/New England during the summer hurricane season.
  9. The ArriveCAN submission is linked to your passport and the ship is responsible for ensuring you have it. They then send the manifest to the CBSA prior to entry and that’s when the documents/you are reviewed. The only time they (CBSA) would want to speak with you is if there was a problem with your documentation or you had come to their attention in some other way.
  10. Cunard has very well-behaved kids; much like HAL has very well-behaved kids. I’m fine with parents who want a playground-at-sea going elsewhere.
  11. I’ve been selected for random testing at the land border a few times. The first was mandatory as soon as you cross, which was a complete disaster. The other times I had to do the proctored test online within 24 hours of arrival in Canada. At the end of the test you chose a drop-off location or a time and date for Purolator to pick it up; you didn’t have to leave home to mail it. If they’re doing PCR tests then you wouldn’t even know if you’re positive until they received and tested the swab. They only way you’re going to know if you’re (maybe) positive is if they’re now giving out the antigen tests and then they’d have to do a PCR test to confirm. The whole thing is ridiculous, anyway, since they’re no longer requiring negative tests to board a flight, so if a positive person is on that flight you may or may not find them by randomly picking people disembarking. Get your data from the positive cases you’re already receiving. /rant
  12. I am shocked that you received the suite bonus, unless you upgraded from a suite to a suite, or paid a published fare for your upgrade. When you are upgraded you remain in POLAR as your original category booking. Mariner days aren’t applied as they see the original, non-suite, category when calculating the credits.
  13. If you are working with a HAL rep (PCC) or TA, contact them directly and they will make the arrangements. If you booked direct online, try contacting Ship Services, although they may not be able to do anything until closer to the sailing date. Last resort is to go directly to the main dining room or reservations desk, when you board, and make the arrangements through them. HAL_Ship_Services@hollandamerica.com 800.541.1576
  14. Log into your booking and in the daily itinerary you can purchase specialty dining. If you are asking about MDR reservations then that will appear on the first page of your booking confirmation and will be stamped on your ship card. There is also a staffed kiosk onboard where you can make reservations. The location will be in your When & Where.
  15. Have seen “live” thread people reporting they are only paying the difference. Quite possibly a gradual rollout. You can definitely upgrade onboard but I’ve seen where it’s a $4 variation. This thread can get you started.
  16. Go to Walmart and pick up a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Releaser. Then head to the travel section of the Pharmacy department and pick up a travel size. (Refill the travel size from the big bottle when it’s low.) You can add water to the travel bottle to top it up while you’re traveling and it will still work. Pack it in a ziploc bag. Your life will never be the same.
  17. Thank you, @JerryG0828, @friendswithdave, @Firsttimecruzer2022! Would have preferred to take the train but can’t trust they’ll be running then.
  18. Related question: We will be in Seattle and are considering either an itinerary from there or from Vancouver. May I ask what the cost for the shuttle is and whether it has to be taken on the day of the cruise or could you get one a day or two sooner? Thank you to anyone who knows.
  19. People on the HAL board are reporting problems with it, but it seems to be resolving. You might want to monitor this thread:
  20. Could you please expand on this statement? Princess currently has all kinds of sailings.
  21. Just take a screenshot of the confirmation with your tablet so you have access to it without requiring WiFi. I have never printed an ArriveCAN confirmation; I just show the electronic receipt to whoever needs to see it.
