  1. He's on the Star now. Have someone on that live thread ask where he's going. He told me and I don't remember. He's getting off soon. I know he's not going back to Star but I've forgotten where he'll be.
  2. Yup. I got kicked out of the spa pool in November when we were on our way to Hawaii.
  3. Exactly. We stayed on until Vancouver. The medevac in Puerto Vallarta was right underneath my cabin. Now back to regularly scheduled program.
  4. If that was the Panama Canal April 22 I was on that trip as well.
  5. Have fun everyone!! I'm looking forward to following along. Clay, our Meet and Greet last month on the Star was in the Wintergarden. About 70 attended, plus officers, the CD, and vocalists. They sang for us. Most of us were standing but it worked.
  6. I'm onboard as well. I thought they said a Coast Guard helicopter was meeting us? I was in cooking class, it was hard to hear.
  7. UW Dawg, I bought my mask and snorkel from snorkel mart. Very good customer service and reasonable. You can get prescription masks (I did) and they have full face masks now too that glasses may fit under. I think I'm going to order one for my upcoming Hawaii/French Polynesia cruise. https://www.snorkel-mart.com/vista-vue-full-face-snorkeling-mask/
  8. I've got a question. Someone who was writing a blog used a really good guide in French Polynesia. Does anyone know about it? Or have suggestions for French Polynesia islands? I'm doing the 33 day Hawaii French Polynesia cruise Nov 10.Thank you so much!!!
  9. Hi Kent...haven't been able to be on CC for awhile so I missed your Live. I'm up at 2 AM and read the while thing. Wonderful. Glad you are enjoying!
  10. I'm sorry. Our last Viking March/April 2022 they tested every day and I liked it. My husband has acute myelogenous leukemia now so we can't cruise.
  11. Were you recently on a cruise and caught it? I hope that you both feel better soon.
  12. Andy I'm so sorry. I enjoy your posts. And your blog.
  13. Did your TA try? Mine was able to. Makes no sense really. I'd have the TA try again.
  14. For September, though, since you are outside the 120 day penalty period, you could cancel and rebook for $100 apiece. We've done it in the past when the difference is significant. We don't book our insurance through Viking, we get it through insuremytrip so not sure how it would affect insurance through Viking. Our TA has always kept us in the same cabin, too...new booking number.
  15. I'm from the Viking Ocean board (for the past 6 or 7 years anyway) and know Clay from there. Is that a shower INSIDE the stateroom? And I'm 6 feet tall, the bed looks sad. Been on over 50 cruises, all mainstream until we discovered Viking. But I've never seen a shower in the room. Unless I'm seeing things?
  16. Clay, do you type your daily updates on your tablet and then just copy and paste when you get wifi?
  17. Clay, we use the same agent. Do you know if Viking has changed their rules? On the that shall not be named page via the ta they said something about x off. I haven’t looked into it since we had to cancel our cruise because of husband's terminal cancer. Back and forth to cancer center. I did a Google and couldn't find updated info.
  18. Our guide was Ketut Wirtana. Ketutbestdriverinbali@gmail.com His fee was ridiculously low and we paid him double. Great guy. We found him on these boards through a gal from Australia. We went to some great local places for lunch. Of course we bought his lunch. We just trusted him to plan our days and it worked out great. If you contact him tell him Dobie and Roger sent you!
  19. Don't you love autocorrect? We hired a private guide in Bali, Ketut Wirtana, for the 4 days after our Auckland to Bali cruise on our own extension. He took us to the Kecak dance as well and positioned us to watch the sunset. The white monkey sat on my husband's lap. A private guide is certainly the way to go. It was a great 4 days!!!
  20. We really liked seeing the dragons. We really hated the heat (can't be helped) and the walk was LONG. Plus we had to wait before we started. They were waiting for people who were late. Frankly, it sucked. And the sales thing was AWFUL! So, whoever posted disappointed missing Komodo and having to go to Rinca, I think you were lucky...
  21. Sounds like we would have liked Rinca better. Don't remember on Komodo how long our walk was but it seemed forever because of the heat. And we climbed a hill, coming down my husband fell and cut his arm. It was bleeding. So, naturally, worried about the dragons. The "guides" had no type of first aid or even band aids. I did. (Hey, I was a Girl Scout). It turned out fine but it was so hot for such a long walk. And then the horrible gauntlet of vendors.
