  1. If Glacier Bay is on your to see list, then Holland American and Princess will be the ones to pick. Now look at their itineraries on their website, and see which one fits your cost and time frame. Alaska cruises aren’t known for their party cruises, and most are at least 7 nights.
  2. On Quantum class, only show that has reservations are the ones in Two70
  3. This has been the standard for, I think, ever since cruise started again after Covid. I have not heard of anything new recently.
  4. Is this for a 7 night cruise or longer? If 7 nights, that’s a great price. If longer, then they are usually less.
  5. I’m in a solo veranda on the Edge in May. It was cheaper than a regular interior cabin. I’m looking forward to it and it’s my first Celebrity cruise. I’m not concerned about getting points on Celebrity since I go over as Elite any way because of Royal points.
  6. I don’t belong to that other sight for reasons mentioned, plus it’s just not very private, and I like to keep my life private. And for me personally, I enjoy less people. Most of my roll calls on Cruise Critic for unique cruises are pretty active, but I’m wondering since the OP is from Australia, if a cruise that doesn’t originate or end in the US, like a TP, just doesn’t draw as many Cruise Critic folks. I’m on the Panorama in Oct. from Singapore to Long Beach and it’s been pretty active. I sailed the Splendor from Long Beach to Sydney back in 2019, and we had a pretty active Roll Call then also.
  7. I have the solo discount now, and I always book interiors. I have been on the Ovation multiple times, but no other Quantum class, so I can see me eventually booking a B2B or more. My daughter and granddaughter are in San Diego, so it would be an easy family cruise. She hasn’t been on a Quantum class ship yet, so an alternative besides Navigator would be an option. Plus, no flights for her, and I could extend a cruise to a visit to San Diego too.
  8. I have been cruising for 44 years, and I’m starting to wind down. I’m a solo cruiser, and for me at this point, it’s all about itinerary. I have never been loyal to a cruise line, but I did focus on Royal the last few years to get to the 340 mark, which I did. I have 3 different cruise lines booked through Spring of 2025. I’m not really sure what the future holds for me. As I’ve gotten older, I do enjoy being a homebody. If the right itinerary comes along, and the price fits in my wheelhouse, I may be enticed.
  9. I think a B2B or more would be OK for Westcoasters that really only wanted the ship experience. There are people in Florida and Texas who do short cruises over and over to the same places. This really would be no different. How many don’t even get off the ship in Nassau anymore? And I can see people on the left side doing some of these to accumulate points too. I love the Quantum class, and would look into doing the Quantum out of LA, especially now that I have my solo discount.
  10. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t work for those of us on the Anthem that leave Singapore on Apr 13 to Yokohama. 🤷🏼‍♀️
  11. Make sure to hit the bathroom before your long drive 🤣🤣
  12. If that Jewel sailing is a longer than a 7 day cruise, those will usually be less, but you’re paying for more days, so it all evens out. I doubt 7 day cruises will ever get that low again.
  13. Wow, I hope this is something new. I travel solo, and always just schedule MTD, since I never go to the MDR. I have never gotten a call like that, and I hope it doesn’t start.
  14. Hey there, I have done several TP’s and another one coming up in Oct. I have no clue how many actual time zones it is. When you cross the International Dateline, you skip a whole day going over, and repeat a day coming back to the US. It is very confusing…LOL I just did the 5 legs from Sydney to Seattle on Ovation last March. I should have made note of all the time changes.
  15. There’s been a lot of talk already about it on the World Cruise thread, from those on the ship.
  16. They always had them on my Alaska sailings on Ovation, but last year coming from Sydney, they started removing them once we hit Hawaii. I had a great cabin attendant and she left mine, since I was on 2 more legs. They do come in handy for really early morning wakeups, when you don’t want to get dressed and look for coffee and tea. Have fun!
  17. She does, and getting some roofing repair done. The joys of owning a home.
  18. Seas are usually rougher going north on the west coast. And they have had some serious weather lately in Southern Calif. I was going to mention the seas before, but I figured since you dealt with much worse around Antarctica, that this would seem pretty calm. 😬 My daughter is in San Diego, and she says people down there are now realizing just how many roof leaks they have with all the rain. I guess it’s good for the roofing companies. Safe travels home and thank you for keeping us all updated on your journey. Very much appreciated.
  19. Glad you got one. I never did receive my Wonder block from Oct./2022 cruise. Oh well, win some, lose some. I did fill out a form on the cruise, as they were out, but it was never mailed either. Guess it won’t be now.
  20. There has been talk/ rumors about building another smaller ship. I had heard about it about a month or so ago.
  21. I don’t know if he is still open, but Gordo Leles was my go to spot to eat in Cabo. I had heard he had some medical issues. He’s just a block up from Cabo Wabo and is a cheap authentic place to get tacos. I stay away from touristy places. His little place is decorated with Beatles posters and if you’re lucky, Javier may sing for you. His place will come up on Google Maps.
  22. Unfortunately for some of us, it’s the knees that start throwing out the F Bombs after a couple of flights. 😉
