  1. Years ago, on the Explorer of the Seas, there was a gentleman from NY/Hawaii, who took special permission from Captain Olaf and Royal Caribbean to go see the "real" Haiti. I do not know the details, but he was given permission, but I do remember mentions of a lot of conditions and signing papers involved. I remember him telling us that he "hitched" a ride with a local on a bike. OMG! He wanted to see how the people live, eat what they ate. His mom stayed onboard and was very worried about him, we were also concerned, since we had met them on some cruises before and both are really nice souls. Anyway, he made it back safe, and did what he wanted to do and see the "real" thing. I would never ever have done it. But it was done.
  2. I remember too. Everything was a WOW. It was on the Explorer of the Seas years ago. I did not want to get out of that prison cell! I had to be dragged away with a future cruise confirmation in hand and promises of coming back.
  3. And room service with food choices in this prison!🙄 And use of private toilet and shower!🤣 I believe a couple of them are first time cruisers with very high expectations.
  4. @dani negreanu Wonderful to hear about your trip to Amsterdam and being with your family. You all look great!
  5. Pat, Laura, Pat II, pstone, and all onboard, I so much appreciate your pictures and posts on the "real" thing happening. I saw a video somewhere that was showing some onboard tiktokers complaining about the silliest things: someone thought their inside was like a prison cell😆 Another one seems not to like the crew coming up to greet them when at the WJ and asking if everything was OK😁, One was complaining about not being invited to Pinnacle events and not being given priority and not being included in the full world cruiser events🤣, etc etc etc. It was entertaining and lots of laughs. Hope everyone is enjoying their excursion today!
  6. I see. Thanks. Not a sports fan so I wouldn't know A from B. 😆 Not a good candidate for Sports Trivia!☺️
  7. We book the rooms that are not in the obstructed balcony section. Look up in the deck plan. By the aft elevators and by the front. Steer clear of the starboard aft deck 6 hump balconies.....although not obstructed, but the the smoking bus stop is under there on deck 5. I like the proximity of deck 6 to everything on deck 5, Diamond Lounge on 4, one down Schooner bar, 270, the esplanade, etc. It is just my preference. DH couldn't care less where the cabin is! We have also had cabins on deck 13 front.....closer to the solarium and the secret door which you, me and everybody's brother know about, but I still prefer deck 6.
  8. How long will Captain Kate be on the Beyond till she signs off for vacation?
  9. @ValerieJo I hope your cruise is wonderful. I just wanted to know if you went to Trois Iselt and to the Bakou in Martinique and what were your thoughts. We will be there in March again.

"Posted November 14, 2022 We visited Martinique on the Celebrity Equinox in the end of October. We have been there many times before and have always loved it. This time we first walked around town. Most stores were closed. Some restaurants and cafes were open or opening up since this was early on in the morning. The local guides informed us that most will open for lunch and if we keep walking past their McDonald's we would come to something like a restaurant/cafe row. We will try that next time. We walked to St Louis Cathederal and there was a Sunday mass going on. The mass was in French. It was great hearing a mass in French and not quite understanding but feeling one with the people. After that we walked around a bit, looked at some historic buildings and browsed around a grocey supermarket which was quite "up to date". We then walked back near the dock and got on to the noon ferry for Trois Islet. The ferry was packed like sardines. It seemed like an "Equinox exclusive ferry" LOL. We got off at the Marina and walked around town there. Love the ambiance of that town. More things were open. Lots of cafes and restaurants, lots of tourists. Most stores that I asked at accepted US dollars. We walked up to Hotel Bakoua and to use their beach. We have had great memories at the Bakoua. We then had a delicious French lunch buffet at their terrace restaurant. They had a lovely Caribbean band and people were dancing. The views from the restaurant were excellent. Had a great relaxing day. Then back to the ferry." There were local guides for help, and all types of tours can be booked right at the port.

We are on the same cruise. Yes, we have been to Bakoua many times via ferry. When you get off the ship, the ferry and ticket booth is on the right hand, backing the ship. Very close, walking distance. I do not recall the ferry times but I remember it was quite often. Previously the Bakoua let people sit on their beach, then they started charging $10, then they had different areas for different guests. The last time we went, we had lunch at the Bakoua's restaurant. It was a great experience. I will try to find my posts where I reviewed it.
  12. It was moved to where it belongs; In the DR/Ports of Call section. I read it there.
  13. Hope the weather eases out for you all. I am thoroughly enjoying the crab pictures. Yummmy! I love the type of food tours you go on.
  14. Same thoughts. Ice show was excellent. Aqua was good. Tap, Voices and Effectors......pass!
  15. So happy to read about your adventures, Kim. As always, one the BEST reviewers, BEST pictures, BEST descriptions.... and a lovely family.🥰 I miss Kendra! And OMG Sakari is a young woman! I have loved following her journey since when she was just a little kiddo.
