  1. They’re definitely not suites but there’s a very large price difference between those and an OV. Things like plumbing and AC issues and just lack of space would annoy me. As much as I’m not a fan of Zuiderdam, I would have preferred that size.
  2. For me she’s too old and has had a lot of issues. There are also no regular balconies, you have to book a suite to get a balcony which increases the price.
  3. Ugh. We wouldn’t consider that ship. We’re leaning towards Oceania Vista.
  4. What would the deposit be on the 120 day version? Am I correct in thinking it’s $3k for 2? The 20% applies to the full voyage doesn’t it?
  5. Please be aware the train does not leave from the train station in Gastown. It leaves from the station close to Science World. Pacific Central Station.
  6. I don’t think so. Doesn’t it have to be over a certain time? I don’t think any change gets you a free change or refund. Wasn’t it 60 minutes?
  7. We’re in the market for a WC. If HAL went back to the old small ships, they’d be out of consideration. Wouldn’t even consider it.
  8. I’d love the time and money to string a bunch of cruises together with land trips in the middle..ie transpacific followed by a month in Aus then find a Sydney to Asia cruise, spend a few weeks, find a Dubai to Europe then time in Provence, Tuscany and then a transatlantic home.
  9. I think you mean Hilo. Hana is on Maui.
  10. We usually go for three weeks to a month every year. Trust me, it doesn’t get old. It probably has the most to do of any of the islands combined. You just need to get out of Waikiki which most people don’t do.
  11. I don’t believe they have a ship that can safely make the turn into the harbour on Kauai.
  12. If it’s a nice way to get there and if you’ll spend some extra time there at the end then sure. Don’t think I’d sign up for that cruise though. Big island isn’t my favourite. I’d do a land trip.
  13. We’re going to Moorea, Tahiti and Raiatea on Solstice’s October 2025 Transpacific.
  14. I’ve read a few people taking them on world cruises so I don’t see why not.
  15. Transatlantics are usually a decent “value”
  16. Wow, so that’s her answer? Just remove anything decent and serve swill? Not the sharpest tool in the shed is she?
  17. So, this is what I found out when researching this for our trip. Yes, aussies have it built in to their fare but the passengers from NA do not and will be charged as normal. But here’s the kicker…the daily tips we are charged do not go to the staff on your cruise. The Aussie based staff do not participate in that tip pool. It’s added to the general pool for the rest of the fleet.
  18. Why? Crown has taken over from Coral doing the Aussie WC. Zuiderdam does the HAL WC.
  19. We were very pleased with the price and the itinerary is great. Haven’t seen 3 New Zealand stops on the TP before.
