  1. I was on it for both 5 day cruises and was wondering the same thing! No lobster. Both formal nights had surf and turf (which had shrimp).

Agreed - and 'surf and turf' was disgrace to real 'Surf and Turf', sorry

the 'filet' was no more than a 1/2 inch thick , and the surf - as you stated - was 3-4 medium sized skrimps, not even a decent prawn:evilsmile:

  2. It's somewhat an intangible...When we first started cruising, we could care less about the MD. In fact, we kind of avoided them as it seemed they were around on the last night to strong-arm you for a tip. Over time, we have become foodies and enjoy a great meal paired with great wines. When you bring a good wine aboard, or order one from the wine list, you kind of get on the staff's radar, and start getting more interaction from the Head Waiters and MD. Suddenly, special dishes start showing up at your table, or special accommodations are made with your dining reservations. From cruise to cruise, you start meeting the MDs and you know which ones are willing to go the extra mile for you, and which ones are visible no matter where you eat. We have been fortunate enough to have cruised with Neville several times, and I would rank him as the best in the Princess fleet. Extremely personable, and commands the respect of his staff.

We are not production show people, so would rather have an outstanding meal followed by a nightcap in vines, where we often run into the MDs and their Head Wait staff after they are done for the night, so we get to know them on a personal basis. I am "Friends" with many of them and other staff on FB. I was able to have some gifts delivered to Carmen in Vines through a friend and got the most wonderful thank you on FB this morning from her!

Solid Answer:) Works for you, us, not so much

  3. Got an e-mail today telling me to check in at 2PM, as my room will not be ready. This is on the Regal in FLL. I've never had to be this late for a 4PM departure. Regardless of cruise line, I've always arrived and checked in about 11:30, then boarded with no problem. I have my carry on, and go have a drink and something to eat. How strict are they on the times?

Have you sailed with Princess before, or have a suite booked?

  4. The staff in Vines will stop you if you try to take "Vines stemware" out of Vines. They will pour your remaining wine in a different glass. As I would stop in Vines every night of our cruise before entering a dining venue, Carmen on the Crown Princess got to where she would ask me if I wanted a to go glass..or if we were staying and having Tapas first.

    Interesting, huh?

  5. The answer is yes. We are also elite cruisers on Princess and I find the Club Class particularly grating. On our last cruise, one side of the anytime MDR entrance was reserved exclusively for Club class entry. A relatively small group of diners were seated in the alcove area just inside the entrance. Meanwhile, the line on the other side of "anytimers" extended well into the atrium area. I'm always in awe of businesses that go out of their way to irk their customers.

The issue of Princess changes has been well-documented on these boards, but do many off the points of differentiation that made Princess our choice years ago have become only available as premium items. Why upgrade on Princess when you can just upgrade to another cruiseline?

Sent from my SM-G920V using Forums mobile app

Agreed, you should go to another cruiseline with your "elite(st) attitude. You have out cruised Princess

  6. Laundry room: have they upgraded to tokens with cruise card or must one still rustle up quarters?

Who was this absolutely the worst pianist in Crooner's and what made them so bad? It'll be a bummer if s/he is still onboard and terrible for my 13 days . . .

use your cruise card for tokens - $3 wash, $3 dry - wife took own pods and dryer sheets

not planning on having to wash on the 5 day - but ended up doing a load of whites

  7. favorite meal??? - none - but we did not eat in any specialty restaurants.

Quik post about doubles - not allowed

sitting at a pool bar, dude comes up at 10 in the morning and orders a double Jack on the rocks. Staff says no , but gives him single shot. dude is pissed because 'yesterday, he got doubles and they just swipped the card twice. NO .. dude takes shot away to next table, put down drink, and orders another shot on the rocks. Staff says NO. Staff calls for backup and a head bar dude confronts passenger. Later learned they flagged his account for the rest of the cruise - not sure exactly what that meant

  8. not at all - I am a firm belieber that with anytime dining, I should be able to wear shorts, a golf shirt, and a visor in the mdr, until they (Princess) ups their game and starts treating the mdr as an MDR with QUALITY food and QUALITY service. As far as I am concerned, the mdr is a cattle call buffet with table service.
