  1. Don't use your debit card to guarantee your onboard account!!!

Unless you have a lot of money in your checking account.;)

Anything you spend on board is debited from your folio. When/if you run out of OBC, the computer will start dinging your credit or debit card. They get very upset, if your bank balance doesn't exceed your onboard charges.

Those pesky charges can add up. Since it's your first cruise, you'll be tempted to try everything. Photos when you board, in the MDR, at each port? Check.

    Specialty dining? Check.

A drink here, a drink there, a bottle of wine with dinner? Uh Huh.

That really great t-shirt at the $10 sale? Can't live without it.

An excursion that you just have to take? There's still room for us, let's go!

Bingo? Casino? Gotta try it at least once.

Art auction? Did I just win that bid for that stupid painting?

Some get off the ship after spending more on the ship than the cruise cost. OUCH!!

If you're careful, you can leave without spending a dime, but almost no on manages to do that.

12th cruise with Princess - first without ANY OBC is all:evilsmile:

  2. Contact Princess Immediately - Explain nicely, but firmly how extremely disappointed your are about this situation. Ask for no cost grats, specialty dinner(s) cabin upgrade and to be put on waitlist for a medallion room. Don't take the first answer as a done deal - ask to be transferred to Customer Relations who are the real decision makers. Nice, but firm

  3. We leave in about 2 weeks and this is the first cruise where we have NO OBC - bummer. It's just a little 5 day on the Crown, we did get a recent price drop and grats free.

I have the drink package, wife doesn't this time. I'm thinking about purchasing about $150 in general OBC to cover her drinks and incidentals. I guess my only concern would be if we didn't use it all, and that's not going to happen, and have credit left over, it would jut go back to my original form of payment, since it wasn't a use it or lose it credit

  4. The rest of the cruise was just a big celebration! Especially enjoyed the last stop at Grand Turk and a visit to Jack's Shack!!! We absolutely love going to Jack's Shack and watching Topher swim and dig

Side note - the first time we went there my wife asked and was given a lounge chair for the sun. about an hour later, this little girl - who turned out to be Kenley, the granddaughter of Jack and Janet stated that was "her chair" - sure enough, it had her name on it. My wife and her became 'pinky promise' friends after that

  5. We did, but it was on a cruise that we have since cancelled and re-booked another. On the 2 day Regal Princess Medallion preview cruise, we booked and paid for a balcony and were put on a waitlist for an interior. We got the waitlist confirmation that we had gotten an interior and a credit appeared on our account in a couple of days. Good Luck

  6. Buy it ahead of time - price increases - just happened and we got the package at the old price, but still under the new terms.

Paid off pre-cruise - I've seen people at the pool bars getting rejected and having to go to guest services to see what was wrong and not being happy at all - why risk it?

  7. Princess I taking a beating over the rollout or the lack of the rollout of the Medallions - we cancelled our B2B cruises on 11/13 and 11/15.

Got full refunds for everything and are now going on a 5 day on the Crown with a great price. After booking, also got the free grats and a $50 pp re-fare after a price drop

  8. Sounds like you are already biased against the Crown - we've been on the Royal, not Regal - and this will be our first time on the Crown - the same 5 day you seem to be going on...

While we really enjoyed the Royal - we did miss the aft pool that is on the Emerald, etc and is on the Crown
