  1. hi L. I thought there was suppose to be a tray of goodies at the Good Spirits bar in the morning? I’m going to miss easy access to my Peanut Butter cookies. Thanks for your personal view of Kai, the fillet, and the lamb chops.
  2. My cruise is AFTER 2/20. Tried to order Medallion 1/30. No dice. $10 or pick it up at the pier. Many have tried and succeeded. Many have tried and failed. I will never understand why I am not the chosen one. Did not order any accessories. Edited….well, smh and hog tie me….. Went back in, canceled pick up at pier, and re-ordered. Didn’t charge me. And I have a screen shot! It’s being mailed to me with zero shipping and handling charge….so far.
  3. Nope, not an loyalty elite perk. You are held hostage if you don't buy into their beverage package. To me, this is as silly as not having Princess tote bags. Princess hyped the Medallion up so much and it crashed an burned: 1. Coming to a ship near you : took years to roll out to complete fleet 2. Medallion Class app was going to change the way you experienced life on board : if it worked 3. Just walk on board : but be sure to stop and show your negative test/vac card/passport. (I really can't blame this one on Princess....Life post covid) 4. Everyone can easily get Medallion : except anyone outside the US 5. Be the "elite" and get your medallion free if you order a beverage package : Start of the class system. I remember paying a nickel to ride the Star Ferry in Hong Kong.
  4. If you are tubing the ditch on Kauai, you will be bumping up against rock walls. It would probably be best if you had closed toed water shoes.
  5. Cabo can only anchor 3 ships (I think). That may have been the reason to rearrange the itinerary. I'm not sure why they didn't know that ahead of time. Seems strange. @dbcruise. A little more information may help everyone. You boarded the ship on Jan 22 and got covid on Jan 26. 4 days. This variant is very contagious and incubation time is much shorter. Did you fly to the ship? Were there any port calls between San Diego and La Paz? Were you/others masked? Vaccinated? (Self) tested before getting on the ship? Did you notice a lot of "sick" symptoms on the ship? Did Princess test you? Isolate/quarantine/move your cabin? There are so many variables. I am sorry you got covid on your cruise. Covid is still around and will be for a long time. I hope you are recovering.
  6. I am not trying to argue with you. There are a lot of passengers who do not live in Southern California and may inadvertently make arrangements to arrive at the Carnival terminal in "Long Beach". So for clarity and accuracy, this is what is posted on the Princess website: What to Know About Cruising from LA Docking: Your cruise from Los Angeles docks at Los Angeles World Cruise Center in San Pedro. Tourist Information Office: For general inquiries, visit the office located at: Port of Los Angeles, Berth 93, Pacific Cruise Ship Terminal, San Pedro, CA 90731. Tel: (310) 514-9484
  7. Hawaii is so easy to on your own with some early planning. We speak (American) English. We are happy to take your dollars (no exchange rate for Americans). Our gas is cheaper than California. The weather is wonderful. You might even see a rainbow (anuenue) if you are lucky. Food is ono-licious. We drive on the “correct” side of the road.
  8. Are you sure you are on a Princess cruise? Her ships leave from San Pedro. Carnival ships leave from Long Beach. Two different ports not remotely close (by walking). They tried this deck thing before. Didn't work back then either. What did work is that they (firedoor) locked the floors and opened them up by scheduled time. That was a mess. Again, no one stopped you from getting on board the ship. So everyone mingled with their carry ons into the dining areas.
  9. Yippee...I finally have a collector's item...up to the highest bidder. Along with all of my "antiques" I've accumulated over my age (not to be mentioned). Remember egg beaters? ha ha
  10. Correct, but different ships have different WIndow Suites: Caribbean Princess: Fiesta Deck 6 Casino on Deck 7 Crown Grill/Loyalty office/Excursion/Future Cruise on Deck 6 Grand Princess: Fiesta Deck 6 Casino on Deck 6 Crown Grill/Loyalty office/Excursion/Future Cruise on Deck 7 SOME Royal Class Ships: Sun Deck 17 Forward / Higher Deck These are very different than the Window Suites on the Grand Class ships. (And once removed) Golden Princess: Fiesta Deck 6 Casino on Deck 7 Crown Grill/Loyalty office/Excursion/Future Cruise on Deck 6 So no, all WIndow Suites are not the same.
  11. My only complaint with those "LARGE" windows is that they get salt spray on them. I would like to see someone hanging over the side of the railings to clean them for me...while we are at sea. They are not always cleaned while in port. Depends which side of the ship is dockside. Princess should have designed the Royal Class ships to have Window Suites on the Fiesta Deck. Currently, the fleet only has them on the Caribbean Princess and the Grand Princess. I do not object to the beautiful layout of Window Suites on the Royal Class ships. It's the location they chose for them that is the problem. Too far forward. Too high up. Far away from everything. Plus, I personally, do not care for the Royal Class ships. .
  12. Some of us are still young at heart. I’m sorry you don’t appreciate the steward’s gesture of kindness. Don’t ruin it for those that enjoy this little extra effort. But the answer is yes, politely decline for whatever your reason is.
  13. Yes, within US for a Coastal. Booked January 30. Ordered medallion last Tuesday, 1/31.
  14. i recently booked a cruise (before you did) and ordered the medallion. When I went to check out…they wanted to charge me. another example of inconsistency. I’ll pick it up at the port….thank you. Thank you @dglish….I will be happy to have mine in hand before boarding internationally. Ordered mine when it was free. if memory serves me, $16. Slightly more than online, but you save on the shipping. Just bought an AirTag holder for my watch.
  15. I found this old thread. Not sure if it is relevant to your issue. Also this link. It’s a mystery I am trying to solve. https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/prepaid/view-all-cards/gift-cards/terms-and-conditions/carnival-corporation/
  16. @KLM3164I did the same tour a few months ago. I thought it was wonderful. Our driver found time to stop at a little bakery on the way up the hill. Thank you to you both for taking us on your journeys.
  17. My apologies for not catching the part about you being onboard with Customer Service and trying to apply your gift card. It should have worked. But I do not understand why this is a scam. I hope you were able to resolve this with American Express and that they give you a reasonable explanation for why you could not use this card THEY sold you.
  18. Just received a text from someone living in Japan: "Yes tipping is never done here and not necessary" And yes, I have tried to "tip" people (can't recall exact situation right now/senior moment) but have been told they are not allowed to accept it. Maybe rare.
  19. There will also be the group of passengers that are willing to give something new a try. The question will be...will they sail the Sun Princess repeatedly. Right now (LNG), she will be very limited to where she is ported and where she stops. Many Hawaii ports/Polynesia. Greenland/Venice. I wouldn't want to try to tender to any port that does not dock directly. I'm all for keeping the Grand Princess around for another 5 years.
  20. https://cruise.blog/2021/12/what-you-should-know-buying-cruise-line-gift-card Gift cards for Princess Cruises are only redeemable for purchases onboard Princess' ships or applied as payment to a Princess booking. Hope this helps. You should have no trouble applying it to your account, ONCE on board. I even took a random $10 debit card. It did take 2 customer service agents to figure out how to apply it to my onboard account.
  21. It would make it so simple if Princess allowed only Elite, Suite, Platinum to pick the early arrival time OR give a day's notice to all said passengers. But of course, that would involve the "overwhelmed" IT department.
  22. @Astro Flyer- The Aloha Spirit Program also gives you an opportunity to learn the native language through a series of lessons, which may helpful while you're on dry land, exploring the sites. Hawaiian Language Lessons? Sign me up.
  23. Which cruise? Down under? All Grand Princess dining rooms were open when cruising the US 2022. (Except for one/maybe more embarkation day lunch due to shortage of staff that day.)
  24. All of my gift cards were specific to Princess Cruises.
