  1. Casino rates are offered by a separate department at Princess. You have to be "rated" by the casino which can be the amount you bet per play, amount of time you play and how many days you frequent the casino. Often times you are given an offer letter from the cruise ship casino the night before disembarkation on future casino free play in dollars and possible free cabins. Rates are very enticing to make you cruise again and play again. Win or lose basically comes down to mostly luck.
  2. Agree, if they would have stayed closer to the original show I think they could have made it more entertaining. The original Love Boat show was described as the "greatest product placement" ever and really helped launch the cruise industry to what it is today. In those days less than 500,000 people cruised a year. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/love-boat-cruise-industry/index.html
  3. So true. We have been on Princess ships and have witnessed when a Chair Rescuer was caught by a Chair Hog using their chair and the confrontation can be unsettling. Also, rarely have we ever seen Princess staff mediate the dispute which is even more unsettling.
  4. We asked our doctors and they said no. Unless we test positive would/could they write a prescription and then even then they would be hesitant because of side effects. But they would not let us have it to travel with as a precaution?
  5. OMG! Princess is not even monitoring Covid on their ships anymore and some some how they are now going to get the backbone to tackle chair hogs. As we have learned, Princess only suggests rules but never enforces them. Chair hogs are safe to hog on. 🐷
  6. This is what we were told to when we inquired with a Princess CSR. We would not have to accept the upgrade and had 48 hours to decide.
  7. As you can tell the Covid deniers are out in force. With the coming flu season and new variants already causing increased hospital loads cruising will not be exempt. Get ready for a lot of possible sickness on ships. We canceled all cruises until late Spring of next year and are just going to sit back and watch the posts that will be coming on how bad it gets. Sounds like all caution is being thrown to the wind by Princess.
  8. Well stated and totally agree. Princess will have no problem filling its' new ship even though some of the old timers seem to think the sky is falling. Princess is and always has been the Love Boat.
  9. The show was obviously not created for Princess cruisers. I am sure CBS and Princess know exactly what they are doing. Remember the average Princess cruiser seems to enjoy Drop the Egg, Paper Airplane and Ring Toss contests which are standard activities on Princess cruises and well attended. That is just not exciting TV fare and going to keep people from changing channels. Love on Love Boat!!
  10. ROFL…..OMG and somehow people pan this show but the ridiculous games they have on Princess like the Marriage Game, Yes/No game, Trivia, etc. are some how not cheesy but high class entertainment on Princess.
  11. I think it is a dislike of being hood winked into giving a tip before allowing the person receiving the service to decide if they feel a tip is warranted. Nothing more. No crew hate. No cheap and greedy passengers. Just a basic right to spend our money how we see fit and not be forced to spend it by a cruise line to supplement their wage deficiencies.. But please feel free to continue the manipulative guilt tripping. Here's a TIP. It does not work!! 🙂
  12. Yes no need to keep what will eventually become junk stock and just write off the loss. Only have it for the OBC. It would also be more one reason to start looking at other cruise lines too.
  13. I believe you will be charged a gratuity for all bar service paid drinks.
  14. Tipping in most places where it is customary is an extra monetary reward for exemplary service of going above and beyond the normal service and is a customer decision. Some companies have started adding it into the bill and allowing no or little choice for the customer to decide how to reward for the service they received. It is not automatic like Princess would like you to believe and it turns it into a wage subsidy the way they do it. There will be a lot of guilt tripping on CC to leave the Crew Appreciation Charge but it is still your choice. Outstanding service on Princess is not always guaranteed so neither should a tip be. Just because the cruise line would like you to do it does not mean you have to just like countless people on CC chose to ignore mask rules, dress codes, chair hogging rules, etc. Live free!!
  15. I think it is optimistic. Analysts we were listening today are saying that cruise lines are going to have a very hard time filling their ships as the recession grips the nation and world and inflation continues to rise along with interest rates. Families and many retirees are going to have a lot less discretionary funds to spend on cruising and the cruise lines have not even come close to recovering from the pandemic.
  16. Agree...making Kettle Corn... 🙂
  17. We second that. We have had no problems with the Dine My Way and it seems a much better use of your limited staff then having traditional dinning where a table of for 8 is only used by two because the rest of the table randomly shows throughout the cruise. No more wasted wait staff. Bravo!!!
  18. I think you are right. We noticed to different itineraries we are on in the Spring and before the bidding started there were plenty of mins and a number of suites. Even those cruises are not being on bird yet, when the bidding process started it showed al suites and minis on the two different cruises were sold out. It just seems too coincidental?
  19. I have noticed recently on a couple of the cruises we have for next Spring and finally payment is not due until the end of the year that the suites and mini-suites disappeared from the inventory when the bidding system began. Is Princess just holding cabins now on many cruises and hoping to have people start bidding more because of scarcity?
  20. You could have booked the cabin(s) (temporary 3 day hold) and then got in touch with your TA at the beginning of the week who could have asked Princess to make the change.
  21. Our experience was the same on the cruises we have done this year and a TA. All staff wore masks and never saw them below their chin or worn inappropriately. I am sure they would have been reprimanded/ terminated if they created a health risks for other cruise members.
