  1. Pretty sure it's from the UK. See the radio call sign lettering on the nose? It starts with a G and that letter is reserved for the United Kingdom.
  2. Nope. Never seen it on AA.
  3. I'm most familiar with American Airlines. Right after we book EZAir we can see our trip directly on AA.com. Typically there's only the PNR/Record Locator (the six digit alphanumeric code) until ticketing. AA will definitively show on the summary page if the the itinerary has been ticketed or not. If not ticketed we even get an annoying box that says to call reservations to get ticketed. It's a glitch as we can't ticket it, EZAir has to do that. Once ticketed, the summary pages says "Ticketed" and the actual ticket number(s) will show up under the Print Your Trip and Receipt option on the summary page (and the annoying box goes away).
  4. I've been ticketed before final payment on some airlines and not on others. IIRC in my personal experience Delta/Air France to Papeete from LAX was one that got ticketed right away. Other posters have also reported being ticketed right away and before final payment. I think it may be a different operational agreement between the EZAir consolidator and the specific airline(s). OTOH my experience with American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic, never ticketed before the 45 day point unless I specifically requested it after final payment.
  5. You should be paid in full both for the cruise and the flights. Usually the normal ticketing window starts around 45 days from the cruise and the latest I've heard of ticketing is two weeks out. If I were in your situation I'd request early ticketing now. You may have to call as this close to sailing the option may not exist on the web-site.
  6. There is however the nightly PES (Platinum Elite and Suite) guests happy hour. 😁
  7. We got a surprise upgrade on the Island Princess last Fall and it was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately it was only for the first leg of our B2B2B but still, fabulous. Upon boarding DW wanted to head to the buffet but because of Cruise Critic, I knew better! Headed for the MDR lunch and our medallions lit off the hostesses tablet highlighting us in red. We were greeted by name and whisked off to what was then Club Class, now Reserve, for lunch. What amazing and fun service. After that we went to the suite to be amazed again. Just fantastic with flowers, champagne and so on. Now in all truthfulness, we sincerely believe the upgrade was because we hit 500 days on that cruise but the staff denies that. As others have said, the room service menu is enhanced in the suites, you'll even see that on the TV offerings. Laundry is not delayed like it is for Elites, it comes the next day. You can use the Thermal Suite in the spa for no charge. Yes, there's no Thermal Pool but it's still a nice feature. Of course breakfast at Sabatini's was pretty darn special. The wait staff there is selected because they're the top of their class and it shows. Mannerisms are enhanced (not that the MDR and Club Class folk are bad) and yes, you can pretty much get what you want even if it's not on the menu. The chef there will do his or her best to make you happy! You'll end up making friends with other suite passengers at the Sabatini's breakfast. We felt like we were the Clampitts on holiday with the other high falutin' folk of Beverly Hills. Funny thing about those high falutin' folk, is they're just like the rest of us and want to have a nice time. Yes, definitely take advantage of the first night specialty restaurant. You can make the reservation when you have your lunch in the MDR. We too enjoyed the Bayou over Sabatini's for dinner but that's just us. Never knew I liked succotash so much! The Bayou's bar often had live music and we got to enjoy that through dinner there.
  8. Only interpreted cuz I'm fully capable of making similar errors!
  9. Probably the wealthier folks.
  10. Princess has a history of selling cruise itineraries they absolutely know they can't supply. One past example is cruises which include a port call in Bora Bora. They'll sell the cruise knowing full well that ships of certain sizes are no longer allowed to call and then suddenly, "for operational reasons" cancel the port stop.
  11. So when will this be reflected in the stock price? Not that I'm selling as I still need it for the OBC!
  12. Wow! I was wondering how long it would take before the conversation devolved to this. Thirty four posts. Longer than I expected.
  13. I have a cruise booked for April 3, 2024 through April 13. Flights just became available yesterday. Note: It's 330 days before the disembarkation date.
  14. We're in the pick them up at the terminal camp. Last cruise in early January our medallions got held up for two weeks in what we think are US Customs (Carson, Ca) and finally reached our home the afternoon of the day we flew out in the morning. Needless to say at the terminal we didn't have medallions and Princess hadn't prepared them for pickup as they didn't know we didn't receive them in time. That was a shuffle that really cost some time. An old-style cruise card had to be made in the terminal so we could board and then we had to exchange that for a medallion freshly made on the ship at GS during the commotion of embarkation day. For our upcoming cruise we decided that rather than chance it, just have it ready for us in the terminal. Doesn't matter if the shipping was free or not. Heck, can you imagine trying to get your $10 back because the medallion didn't show up in time. After all the horror stories of trying to "submit a form" to Princess? I know from experience they get ignored until after six months you write a nice email to Padgett and the heads of all the departments responsible. Then suddenly you get a note of apology and a refund in a week. Too much trouble for me. NO SHIPPING!
  15. Some government agencies will guarantee increased staffing, for a fee paid in advance as it usually involves paying overtime wages. Something Princess is likely loath to do.
  16. I suspect the "high glass" is there to reduce the amount of wind across the cabana area.
  17. fpsphil is correct but Guest Services gets slammed during the last days on the cruise. Best to apply them earlier IMHO.
  18. Not my experience at all. They've been delivered from the nearest bar except when you are in your cabin. Then room service delivers drinks.
  19. We did the land tour followed by a cruise in Alaska in late May of 2022 and had the same concerns. Turned out that there wasn't a single bag per person limit for the Join Me Tonight nor the Join Me Onboard categories. Upon arrival to the first lodge from the airport we were given information envelopes which also contained the bag tags. More bag tags were available upon request and there was no issue at all.
  20. While not answering your question directly, I sense a concern as to does using LNG limit where these ships can go. My understanding is that the marine engines that burn LNG are dual-fuel and can also burn bunker oil. As long as the Sphere Class ships have tanks for oil as well, we're good.
  21. Have you personally done this recently? IIRC I have tried something like this quite some time ago and was unsuccessful with an iPhone. The iPhone would not connect to WiFi for Internet service and simultaneously act as a hotspot. It would only be a hotspot if using cellular data for Internet.
  22. The idea was that given six days to the next available flight home or spend over $1,000 (don't know if that was apiece) more to get to Calgary earlier versus renting a car in Seattle one way and driving back to Calgary for a drop off. Don't know if the costs of the rental would be feasible but it certainly could have been looked at. BTW, I erred in the drive time. From Seattle add another two hours so less than thirteen hours, definitely a long drive and might require an overnight (for us older folks anyway).
  23. I see a lot of truth in this. As soon as I read the first sentence I immediately thought of the bridge officers and then you mentioned that towards the end of your post. Already we see bridge officers who get "seconded" from one line within the Carnival Corporation to another. I'm pretty sure this happens with the engineering / technical officers as well. Medical staff is another area that may already be subcontracted. We all know the casino staff works for an overarching Carnival Corporation company. While I don't see all of this as a bad thing, what I would miss is if we get a lot of subcontracted areas that are mostly passenger-facing, Princess will begin to lose its "personality" or "family feel" if you will. We all have our favorite captains and the more experienced of us like to mention to captains that we remember them when they were third officers or even deck cadets. Same goes for the entertainment staff. How I love to see a new CD and remember them as a very young junior rookie organizing the champagne bottle ring toss game. Going to stop now as this is making me feel old...
  24. We've seen '80s and White Nights combined on both the Sapphire Princess and the Island Princess in 2022 and 2023. It generally ends up being in the Explorer's Lounge with the dancers and cruise staff in all in white dancing with the passengers to disco music. But, no costumes required of the passengers. Just make do or have fun trying to anticipate what might happen!
