I've found when traveling, sea or land, that we 'dine' later. Busy days, a little rest, a cocktail. Dinnertime sneaks up on us. -

Difference between the two: The biggest difference has to do with the direction in which the money flows. With extortion, someone is generally threatening someone else to try to get money from that person. Or, they might be using threats to try to get a special service. With bribery, there is not necessarily a threat involved.

Well, since these are true corporations not some little mom and pop, I have to believe that the maitre de's and others have been instructed with the appropriate warnings. -

But it's a bribe, right? If you don't consider it a bribe, then what is it? Isn't a tip always afterwards for good food/service/etc.? -

Could you elaborate a smidge on that please. Is formal black tie or a nice jacket, dress shirt, tie and slacks. Stricter smart is that what O would like but doesn't enforce. Like Dockers and at least a collared, knit shirt, no tennis shoes? Thanks, sir. -

Thanks for the tips and I'll check them out. But I wasn't clear. The subject line of my emails say literally SOMEBODY reacted to a post in a topic Not the usual screen name of the person. And it's only for the "react" feature not comments. I'm sure I can get used to it but since it's new I thought I'd ask. Thanks, Kat. (BTW, one of my nicknames is Cat.)

That's us. Pre-covid we cruised from Rio to Buenos Aires. Afterwards we agreed that we should have just flown into Rio, spent a week, then flown into BA for another week and then home. Those interim ports were pretty ho-hum to us.

Wanting a second dinner at Jacques we asked for a shared table. Totally nice couple. What was kinda interesting is that we didn't time our dining to match. -
Oh, of course. But if I say and do nothing then at the very least I can feel guilty. And I've 'inspired' a few others to do the same.

Ah, okay. Please understand that I occasionally boycott 'corporations.' And I let them know I'm doing it. And if I'm spending money somewhere I DO care how they spend my money. PS: Walmart, I'm talking to you. 🙂
