  1. I just did a quick brouse and lots of lobster is frozen. For long periods of time. I can't imagine a ship keeping live lobster, much less Maine, for the duration of a cruise.
  2. North Shore or South Shore? We used to live at North Shore, Carnelian Bay.
  3. We did a Norwegian coastal cruise a few years ago. I considered getting a couple of little things for the grandkids but everyone was made in China.
  4. Could you give an example please? I sincerely can't imagining what that 'stuff' would be.
  5. Well, maybe an expedition cruise to Antarctica?!?!? I think they're going to become more and more popular but maybe not yet. We also were on Hurtigruten but also part of an escorted land/sea trip through Patagonia so a tad different. We liked Hurtigruten so much that the following year IIRC we did their Norwegian coastal cruise.
  6. We have a motor home and we use single ply toilet paper because it was strongly recommended. It breaks down super quickly and therefore minimizes clogs. It seems like that would be a huge benefit on a cruise ship.
  7. Our upcoming cruise begins in Amsterdam over to Belfast and back to London. Then from there we'll head north and east hitting some Scandinavian ports and wind up in Stockholm. My TA has been in the business and is highly rated with a particular line but I doubt she's been to those ports. Never even asked her.
  8. Yikes! I have a friend who was JUST there. I don't know how they were. Tagged him on FB.
  9. After dinner, you ate more??? LOL. What kinds of things were offered?
  10. Actually there are plenty of lobster dishes made with tomato sauces. Probably famously fra diavola. But it's too bad you didn't enjoy it. I've found, on our few O cruises, that they are quick to change preparations to suit you better. Maybe try it again.
  11. Kinda like the current thread of someone who wants a real promenade walk.
  12. I'm guessing you work from home. If not, how do you handle it when going about your regular outdoor routines?
  13. Thanks for keeping it short and informative.
  14. Yep. To each their own. PS: Some of us hate "warm weather."
  15. Sorry. I thought this poster might not be clear on the particulars.
  16. Care to elaborate on the Simply More deal?
  17. Yes. And I've also read about the enormous debt these companies are carrying and are or may do all manner of things to bring some in. YOU can book a guarantee (and see the whole ship had that status) but I sure won't.
  18. We're doing a B2B and on the first 'leg', except for suites the entire ship was "guaranteed" status. I went ahead and did it but then got to reading. There is a slim but not unknown situation where passengers didn't get to board. I whined long enough that either my O agent buddy or my status-y TA perhaps talked to someone and eventually got a confirmed. I won't do that again.
  19. Since we NEVER cruise out of where we live and it's always a foreign port, we frequently have a nice lunch at a (previously researched) restaurant not far from the ship but not so close that there are likely to be 'tourists there. We always arrive a few days ahead so we know what the weather is and we dress appropriately for the restaurant.
  20. I am also. And I carry two (sometimes three) pairs of shoes πŸ™‚
  21. We moved here three years ago and I've heard of it but never experienced it. But I have developed over the decades of smiling at people every day πŸ™‚ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Freeze
  22. Yep. We'll buy an 'ornament' for the tree. I put that in quote because what's on there can be silly. One is a glass evil we got in Turkey. As for the family not usually anything. They each have specific tastes. I'll also mention that when we did our Norwegian coastal cruise, every knick knack was "made in China."
