  1. This! I believe the op is confusing 5 cruises with 5 ships. There are 3 ships sailing from Bayonne in July. As another poster pointed out, when ships return parking spaces, be they in the garage or in surface lots, are vacated. I have not read on any cruiser not allowed to park at Cape Liberty with the 3 ships this year. Some of the surface lots are quite a distance from the terminal. Drop bags off prior to parking and if assigned to these lots, on disembarkment send the driver to get the car while others remain with luggage at the terminal.
  2. Rereading my reply I noticed an error. On disembarking the terminal after facial recognition, go left to exit the terminal, once outside walk right to the pick up zones for car services. There will be signs in the terminal indicating exit for car services(to the left) & parking garage(to the right).
  3. The most recommended airport area hotels are those located in Elizabeth NJ near International Drive...Country inn, Courtyard, Embassy Suites & Residence Inn are a few. These hotels are within walking distance of the Jersey Gardens mall which has dining options. IHOP & Ruby Tuesday have locations close to these hotels. Many hotels in Newark near the airport have no or limited dining choices along with inaccessible locations except for autos. There is a Double Tree connected to Newark Penn Station, which is in downtown Newark away from the airport. The Ironbound section of Newark, known for its restaurant, is close to Penn Station, not any of the airport area hotels. Uber/taxi is your best option to the port. Check if the Elizabeth hotels offer shuttle service to Cape Liberty. The cruise port & EWR are about 10 miles apart, connected by the New Jersey Turnpike. Expect traffic on weekday mornings, little traffic weekends. If you do walk off and have Uber waiting, flights after 10 am on weekdays is safe. if the choice is between a 10 am flight and late afternoon, 10 am is good if you walk off and traffic is minimal. There should be less traffic weekdays after 9/9:30 am. If you disembark late, a noon flight is good. There is a separate area for disembarking passengers using car service rather than taxi. Taxi lot is by itself, across from zone 10. The pickup zones are marked by overhead numbers. Exit the terminal, go left, then right to the numbered zones. If you use taxi, ignore the signs in the terminal directing to the left. Follow the signs for the parking garage, which is to the right. Once outside, go left, avoid any lines for the ticket vending machines and lines for the elevator in the parking garage. Zone 10, for taxi service only, is near the glass door entrance (by the elevators) of the parking garage. You will see the crosswalk painted on the road, go across 2 sets of crosswalks to the empty lot. I would advise against using taxi as it was disorganized in December 2021. Some had waited more than 30 minutes, others like myself just a few. Prior to covid, the taxi service at Cape Liberty was better organized. If you are constrained by time, go with Uber.
  4. I cruised out of Bayonne on Adventure in late May on a weekday arriving at the port after 12:30 and was surprised to be directed to park in the garage not the surface lots. The attendant told me earlier that day, cars were assigned to park in the lots not the garage. The garage is not solely for Summit cruisers. I was aware of the one surface lot very close to the terminal, I was not aware other lots were also being used. Driving out of the garage on disembarkation I was surprised to see how far (in my opinion) some of the lots were. I saw cruisers rolling their luggage to these distant lots. I know for me it would have been challenging walking that distance with luggage on uneven pavement.
  5. Book reservations as soon as you board via app or ship phone x 2323, especially for Aqua 80. If you do not get a reservation for Aqua 80, you can watch the show from the back of deck 7 either side. There are about 5 chairs. If you are on the rear port side, do not sit near or block the area to the left of the chairs. Performers use that area during the show. Solarium Bistro is open for lunch on boarding day as well as Sorrentos pizza.
  6. Omelette station was on Adventure in May (beeper provided) & Enchantment in April (brought to table).
  7. Disembarking from Enchantment in April, I was waiting in the parking lot for the hotel shuttle. I saw one of the crew members walk across the lot, said he was going to Harris Teeter. He was able to get there but he had no luggage as you will have.
  8. Doesn't need to be a service dog, just one's 'baby' who they can't be separated from.
  9. The requirement to wear masks inside Cape Liberty terminal has been removed. It is now optional. I have seen & experienced those lines outside the terminal entrance. They are lengthened unnecessarily because of cruisers who queue before their scheduled appointment time. Like you, I was dismayed seeing the line and initially waited at the end of the line until I thought better to go to the front and inquire. I was told my appointment time could queue. I got in the shorter line consisting of those who were being allowed in as opposed to those who were standing as if they were on line. Thirty minutes later I was on the ship. For the May 26 Adventure sailing due to the computers crashing, it took 4 hours for some to be processed and board.
  10. In today's news...as of July 10 toll booths on the George Washington Bridge, connecting NJ & NY, will be gone. For those without EZ Pass, license plate will be photographed and a bill will be mailed. The article stated that the Lincoln Tunnel will also be toll booth free later this year but no specific date given.
  11. If Quebec is as bad as you say, you will have no problem with NJ! You are welcome. Enjoy your cruise & stay in NJ.
  12. I was also on the May 26 Adventure sailing from Bayonne. Good to know buses were transporting people from the overflow lots back to the terminal. On disembarkation, I saw some cruisers with luggage heading to those lots, they were far from the terminal. I was aware of the outside lot close to the terminal, these other lots were quite far. The computers went down on the 26th which delayed the check in process. Took me 2 hours 20 minutes to board. One cruiser took 4 hours from the time she queued outside to step onto the ship. I went to Cafe Promenade once for pizza, it was the day we were in Halifax. It was 5:50, had just returned to the ship & was hungry. Out of 4 possible pies, one single slice was available otherwise no pizza was ready. Luckily a cheese pie came out 2-3 minutes later. I asked for 6 slices and was countered with a "how bout 3 slices"? Your explanation of their 3 slice rule helps. I left with the 5 cheese slices available, all on a single plate. There were 2 distribution times for tender tickets. The first at 5:00 pm was much too long to wait. The second, at 7:30, had no line, no wait. Got tender ticket # 5, I was glad I did not wait on the 5 pm line to get a tender ticket 15-30 minutes earlier.
  13. I was at CL in October too and you are correct, the "ridiculously" long line was for those waiting to use the 1 working elevator in the garage. A brave few did use the stairs. That day there were also numerous smaller lines for the parking validating/pay machine which one must first visit before getting your vehicle. It was so disorganized in October on disembarking that I had planned to be in the last group off Adventure 8 days ago, so as to avoid any and all lines. There was a change in plans as Adventure was the first ship since restart that did not have cruisers wait in their cabins. We were assigned to wait in various locations on the ship as was the procedure pre covid. Leaving the ship at 8:15 am, there was no line to pay for parking & the elevator wait was less than 10 minutes. Made up for the 2 hour 20 minute boarding time on embarkation day when computers went down and the ship's departure was extended to near 6 pm instead of its 3:30 scheduled time.
  14. 208 south will be 2 lanes and ends at 4 east. 4 to 93 (which is Grand Ave) has no overhead exit sign, just a small sign on the right pre exit and a sign past the exit lane. NJ could do much better with its road signs. 93/Grand Avenue goes through many name changes and has many traffic lights. it does lead towards Weehawken. You will go underneath the route 3 overpass and exit right to 495 to your destination. I had to look at Google street view for the River Rd option. It does appear exits 72 & 73 off of 4 east can lead you to River Rd which changes into Port Imperial Blvd. Again, be aware NJ is deficient as to good road signage. This choice, to me, appears more complicated getting from 4 onto River Rd but once on River Rd it seems to be more direct and less traffic lights than Grand Avenue (which I am more familiar with). You probably know but if not, motorists do not pump gas in NJ. There is no self serve option.
  15. You can get closer to Cape Liberty using public transit than Hoboken. At the Hoboken terminal walk to the Hudson Bergen light rail ($2.25). Board light rail in direction of 8th street Bayonne. Exit at 34th street, closest station to CL. Cross the tracks via stairway or elevator, have ride service pick you up in the main lot on the side closest to route 440. Taxi fare was $9 in December, Uber should be less. Instead of going to Hoboken, you could take PATH from WTC to Exchange Place station in Jersey City. Walk to the light rail station, follow info from above. If you use light rail, validate the ticket after buying it. If you use light rail on disembarking, it will be full of commuters in the morning.
  16. Carmel Limo and Dial 7 car service are the 2 most recommended on this board. I used Carmel once, all went well. If you stay overnight in Manhattan the taxi rate from JFK to Manhattan should be a fixed rate. Use car service to Bayonne the next day. Disembarking, you could take a taxi (located at zone 10 across the street from the elevator entrance of the parking garage at Cape Liberty) to Journal Square PATH station in Jersey City, then PATH train to NYC. It would be easier using a car service than public transit.
  17. I am not familiar with the option you offer. Looking at Google maps, it will work. If you want to avoid the GSP and traffic on 17 south, I would suggest crossing into NJ at Suffern NY. Bypass 17 south, stay on 287 south to 208 south. There is never traffic on 208, it is the route I use when heading north. 208 south to the end which will bring you onto 4 east. Route 17 south is less than 2 miles away. Before you get to the exit for 17, you will pass the largest mall in NJ (Garden State Plaza) on the right. If you enter 17 at the junction with 4, 17 will only have 2 lanes going south until route 3 east. Once on 3 east going to Weehawken, you will pass, on your left, American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, adjacent to the Meadowlands sports complex.
  18. Did you tell your taxi/uber driver to take you to Port Liberty??? Cape Liberty is the name of the cruiseport in Bayonne. There is no Port Liberty though using it only serves to confuse as Port Liberte in Jersey City does exist. Smoother if cruisers knew the difference.
  19. At present, New Jersey Turnpike still has cash option toll lanes. Look for "CASH" above the booth, likely only 1 or 2 per exit with no specific assigned lane or location. Pre pandemic driving 17 south on a Saturday meant traffic as Paramus is the mall capital of NJ. Garden State Parkway (toll road/cash lanes) is an option. Exit 153 to route 3 east to Weehawken.
  20. Allure's first sailing out of Galveston is November 13,2022. Last sailing is October 22,2023. Harmony sails from Galveston on November 1, 2023 and is there through April 2024. May 2024 cruises not yet listed.
  21. Yes, though no one at the Halifax terminal asked to see the qr code we were told was needed to get off the ship.
  22. As you approach the terminal there will be two lanes. You will be directed to the luggage drop zone but it is not required that you stop there. My recommendation is to stop, drop the luggage and others traveling with you. The parking garage is adjacent to the terminal and a short walk, maybe 200-300 yards. If you park in the garage, bring the parking ticket with you as you will validate it on disembarkation, prior to getting your vehicle. There will be a line on disembarkation to use the 1 working elevator in the garage. I returned from a cruise on Tuesday. I was directed to park in the garage, others were directed to surface lots. I was aware of the parking lot close to the garage and terminal. What I was surprised to see was cars parked far (in my estimation) from the terminal. 3 ships presently sail from Bayonne, there are not enough parking spaces in the garage, there are enough with the surface lots. If you are directed to park in a distant surface lot, you will be glad you dropped your luggage. If you do park in one of these lots, it might be best on disembarking for one to get the car and drive back to the terminal where your group is waiting with the luggage.
  23. The first tender ticket distribution was at 5pm. The line went from one end of the ship to the other then doubled back. Not worth the wait. I returned for the second distribution at 7:30, no line, no wait. Received ticket # 5. I heard tickets were not accessible via diamond lounge, I did not ask for them. The ride took 12 minutess. Waited 15 minutes on the tender after boarding before departing. Estimate 10-15 minutes waiting on the ship before allowed to proceed to the tender.. Allow 45 minutes from time called to board the tender until actually on Bar Harbor.
