  1. Yes, we handed her our passports. She was creative in her "interview" technique. She asked why we were going to Vancouver and we told her. She asked, "about how much does that cost?" We went through quickly unlike the several people ahead of us. We thought we were in for it because most of the cars ahead of us took 3-4 times longer than the other vehicles in the other lines. (Yes, I timed them). We waited about 40 minutes to get through.
  2. I did not realize that you were with us on our cruise.
  3. I am glad yo had good luck with the reporting. We had a bad experience on the Coral when reporting smoking on the aft deck. There were other witnesses who also reported. We had the name and cabin number of the smoker. GS did not care.
  4. We got off of the Grand on September 26th - a 12 night Alaska cruise, roundtrip from Vancouver, BC. The smoke from the casino was very strong; stronger than we have ever experienced. It even permeated the Princess Theater. Also, sitting aft on the Lido deck- deck 14 (gorgeous views), we could smell the smoke from the Promenade Deck -Deck 7, where the crew are still smoking. It is blocked off- still not allowing passengers through. Also, when trying to enjoy our balcony, forward on Deck 10 (Caribe), we often smelled cigarette smoke. The guy above us and one over was smoking in the dark. He have me a dirty look.
  5. We drove from home (Washington State) into Canada. We printed out our ArriveCan and the border guard was not interested. We sailed through.
  6. Yes, I realize that of October 1st that the ArriveCan is optional. I am curious why you want to still complete it?
  7. I am the OP and began this thread just 3 days before boarding the Grand, round-trip from Vancouver, BC for an Alaska cruise. Somehow, it transformed into covid testing... that is ok... We returned on September 26th and the ONLY SECOND ArriveCan that was required, was to be completed two days before the port of Prince Rupert, BC. We did not need to complete a second one before boarding the ship. So, now you have it.
  8. It was not the stops that determined the requirement to test. It was the embarkation port. We departed from Vancouver, BC.
  9. On Deck 15, (the Grand), next to the Wedding Chapel, there is a lovely outdoor sitting area. Howevwr, it is for smokers and it also is destructive to the ship experience of others
  10. We were on the ship with @jeanandjim. As my husband suggested, it was a computer issue- it was a glitch in the software. I think we finally left about 11:00 pm and had two sea days in a row.
  11. They waited for the Alaska season to end. At least this will help those doing New England/ East Coast itineraries.
  12. We just got off of the Grand (on it for a 12 night Alaska cruise). YES, the crew smoking area is still on the Promenade deck and it is quite annoying as the smoke drifts everywhere, including up to the aft Lido deck when trying to enjoy the fantastic views. I was very disappointed. Our cabin was very forward on the Caribe deck and I often went out on our balcony, just to smell smoke. The guy on the Dolphin deck (above us and one over), was smoking early on. Last night, it was quite pervasive from our forward Caribe deck balcony. The casino smoke wafted everywhere, including into the Princess Theater. I really wish Princess would get a handle on this issue.
  13. Wow! This is very timely. Run, do not walk away from the Blue Horizon!!! As I write this, we are here right now. Their website is very misleading. You can park here for ONLY the nights you actually stay here. I called and wrote to them about two months ago and they said that I did NOT need to reserve the parking to leave our car here for the cruise. WRONG!!! The hotel gave us the phone number of the company who owns the parking lot (now thoughtful) and they offer a daily rate (6:00 am to 6:00 pm) or by the the month. I finally got through to a real person and to leave our car in the lot for a 12 night cruise, we would have had to reserved online for a month and they would have shipped us a device that we leave in the car. Kind of late for that, right? I have my e-mail in writing and the verbal information and they are a horribly misinformed staff. The Canada Place office closed had already closed to make a reservation. But the one man who answered at a different office told me that we could only park there for a week and would need to call after 7days so we would not be ticketed! We wasted 2 hours on the phone after our arrival at Blue Horizon.
  14. I am so sorry for this craziness! We had to get a booster last April to cruise in May. We barely made the deadline! We originally did the J&J but had to get a booster of something else because the J&J was no longer available. I hope you have insurance. The CFAR would work. Everything is loosening up so this is ridiculous!
  15. We propped up our IPhone against a wall. Prop it up against anything. You do not need a fancy stand.
  16. This is conflicting from my first post which is from the website.
  17. Princess can be very confusing from one agent to another. Your friends can book their own hotel and book online with EZAir or book their own air.
  18. You are welcome! Yes, some great information has been shared.
  19. My first and original post was from a Canadian government website. I also want to say that you are all wonderful and I appreciate the comments. I agree that it seems very redundant to do a second one after already entering Canada. On a lighter note, our covid tests are both negative! Yay!
  20. Exactly... they are done for the season.
  21. There are similar threads on this board. Princess also has some of the smaller ships which can depart from Vancouver, BC. We will boarding the Grand Princess in 2 days for a 12 night itinerary. We will see two glaciers and also visit Icy Strait, Prince Rupert, Sitka, with a long day in Victoria. It will also include the "regular" ports of Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway. Princess has wonderful naturalists who do lectures and speak on the loud speakers. televisions when traveling to and from glaciers. As stated. your interests, goals, budget can help responses.
  22. Correct. We embark next week from Vancouver and will do our tests tomorrow. It is Canada, not Princess.
  23. Thanks @Bgwest- We are doing a round trip Alaska cruise from and to Vancouver, BC. We will have 2 other Canadian ports.
  24. @d9704011 Not to worry........... I did read the others and the tone of responses was more positive. Someone else said that upon arrival, he was instructed to do his second one on the spot. So, we will be doing as stated: If you’re not joining the cruise immediately, enter the address of your hotel. You must also submit a second ArriveCAN submission no more than 72 hours before boarding the cruise. This applies even if your second ArriveCAN submission is within 72 hours of the first submission.
