  3. I got a good laugh this morning when I received a text message on my phone saying "welcome to Spain" and a few minutes later a message saying "welcome to Gibraltar" followed a few more minutes later with "welcome to Spain" again. And so it went on until I realised that when I was on the starboard side of the ship, which was docked facing the town, I would receive the "welcome to Gibraltar" message, but when I moved to the port side, which is facing the Spanish mainland town of Algeciris, I would receive the "welcome to Spain" message. Politics at play.
  4. It is an interesting docking position as we are very close to the end of the airport's very short runway. It is a commercial port and very busy but it would be possible to walk to Casemates Square in about 15/20 mins. Today a shuttle service was provided and the cost was £2 or €3 each directionto Casemates Square. I understand from a fellow cruiser that a taxi was charging €20 each direction. The taxis held 8 so if you are a group of 7 or 8 it is better to use a taxi instead of waiting for a shuttle (which are the same 8 seater vans as used by the taxis!) Many of the stores were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Stores accept euro at an acceptable rate as well as British Pounds. The rate offered for usd was not so attractive. $1.30 = £1 €1.15 = £1 No rate offers for Loonies 🤔 Their is a "duty free shop" in the cruise terminal (and free wifi) but prices are cheaper in the town.
  5. Tuesday 30th April Good afternoon from Gibraltar. We are shortly departing Gibraltar and heading northwards towards A Coruna in North West Spain. Here is our docking position in Gib.
  6. Good afternoon from Nieuw Statendam, currently docked in Gibraltar, but due to depart in about 15 minutes. I think today is a day of two firsts for me..... First first, i was awake too early to post on the Daily and had to wait for the thread to post before I could show the ship's position the second first was having a sunrise photo to post! I am not a morning person. In fact I try to avoid mornings if at all possible! So here is my masterpiece.........Rock of Gibraltar at sunrise on 30th April 2024
  7. I believe my DW was the first to use that expression [on me]. 😉 However I now know how that other expession started "you have some neck" [ on me again] 🫣
  8. Are you certain you want something that the Brits squatted on for a couple of hundred years? 🙄 😁 (Apologies to Graham )
  9. Enjoy your cruise. Embarkation may be delayed as the crew forceably remove our grasping fingers from the ship. Don't want to go home. 😪

  14. Pool venue has so much more party atmosphere. Under the big screen was dance area and they had put in the 'high pedestal tables' that are used for Captain's reception etc around the rest ot the pool area. Jose, the entertainments host, was giving it max volume and max encouragement, but no one needed encouraging. It was the best Orange party I have experienced so far.
  15. I thought I posted the menus, but it appears not. Here is the Dutch menus from last night on NSDM, which also happened to be Kings Day.
