  1. Sometimes it is difficult to find the switch (maybe hidden behind curtain) and light may have been switched on by previous occupant.
  2. Norway is not in the Euro zone and use Norwegian Krone, however most transactions are card or device, very little cash used.
  3. Nieuw Statendam is also in Med during early and late part of the season.
  4. Oh yes baby! Frozen Snickers is great. Another great frozen treat is Cadbury's Twirl. (Cadbury's Flake coated in chocolate) When frozen it becomes crisp and really melts in the mouth............😋
  5. Last year the X80 bus from Piraeus Cruise port into Athens Syntagma Square, was €4.10 for a Day Ticket. So valid for there and back! There was a line of taxis waiting too, but I didn't ask price.
  6. I tried Hershey's once and still regret it. 😟 #1 selling chocolate/candy bar according to gooooogle is Snickers.
  7. You probably will not be able to access 'airside' until 3 maybe 4 hours max, pre flight, so cafe before departure lounge really doesn't matter as you won't get there until 4pm or so. Suggest you either look for luggage storage and explore more of Barcelona or, take a day or even a half day tour of Barcelona and store your luggage on the tour bus. We have done similar with Spain Day Tours, by arrangement.
  8. @Vict0riann sorry to say that the big red blob to the south west of Ireland in that windy map looks pretty accurate! We are currently experiencing storms with gust up to 100kph and torrential rain. Same is forecast for tomorrow. Stay smooth!
  9. The ship is fine (12 days Eastern Med last June) but personally would consider the mistake to be considering an itinerary with Israel or any itinerary with Med-African ports (personal view).
  10. So, what time do the 1 pm reservations arrive?? 🤔 Just noticed that the MDR is open for lunch from 12 - 1. As the clock goes forward by one hour at 12, do they just open the doors at 12, move the clock forward one hour and immediately close the doors again as it is 1 pm? 🤔🙄
  11. It is a few years since I drove to Gib from Malaga, but I would be loathe to do it with a ship sailing deadline at the back of my mind. Crossing the border from Spain to Gib can be slow and the return trip can see Spanish customs working slowly and long traffic jams developing. La Linea can be a traffic nightmare and the road back to Malaga will be busy at the 4pm ~ 5pm time slot as the Malaga evening return to work will be in full flow. Just a personal viewpoint!
  12. Renfe has not posted the timings yet for May 2023, however checking the closest Wednesday to your date (April 26th is latest) there are direct trains to El Chorro at 09.43 from Malaga Maria Zambrano Cercanias Platforms (not the mainline platforms but the local train platforms). Direct return would be at 15.12 from El Chorro returning to Malaga at 15.52, so plenty of time for a 6 pm sailaway. You should pre book online to make sure that you can use the specific train. A return journey is priced at $3.50 return (ida y vuelta).
  13. I know I am out of step here, but I absolutely loved the interior of Zuiderdam. However, if I remember correctly someone posted that the interior had been greatly changed after her last drydock.
  14. I doubt that anyone will post the HAL didn't do this, just as much as no one will post that HAL did do this without knowing the FULL facts. Obviously the port in question is relevant, as are many other parameters including weather conditions, harbour conditions, safety situations.
  15. Ann, as you have HIA is the NY "Value Added Tax" 🙄🤣 covered by HIA or is it an extra charge to your account?
  16. I can't point to it but I can circle it! Right hand side of the home page and click 'English'.
  17. In celebration of its 150th anniversary, Holland America Line is introducing an online resource that provides a personal look at the cruise line’s passenger lists dating back to the 1900s the cruise line’s connection to revealing immigration stories, according to a press release. Center for Family History (CBG) partnered with Rotterdam City Archives spending three years digitizing the cruise line’s passenger logs from 1900 to 1969. Those interested can now access this database online by clicking on this link here. Holland America Line’s online resource includes approximately 150,000 passenger logs and documents that can be accessed from home. The cruise line is encouraging everyone to search the database to find out if any of their ancestors may have sailed with Holland America Line during that time period. The list of alco includes a few well-known names.
  18. https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2023/04/holland-america-line-launches-online-database-of-passenger-lists/ The mentioned press release is not on the Carnival Corp's website yet.
  19. Really, last 2 cruises on Oosterdam in past 20 months and there was no 'lifeboat spiel' as it was all done by watching the video on stateroom TV and just visiting the lifeboat station to check in with the attending crew member?
  20. The Europe boards are here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/8-europe/ You mention Venice and Trieste and a hotel nearby. Trieste is about 2 hours from Venice, so you will need transport.
  21. The roll call has nothing to do with the survey, as the survey comes from HAL and not from Cruise Critic. You will probably receive it within the next few days, but do check your spam folder just in case it went in there.
