I think the whole idea of YTD is that you don't have to share with strangers. In the past, we have had some very, shall we say, undesirable table mates. On one cruise we had a couple request that we not drink alcohol. We always have wine with dinner. From then forward, we have always used YTD.

I didn't realize Red Frog and Parched Pig had dark beers, stout and porters, which is what I prefer. I can't wait to try them on our upcoming Magic cruise.

Not interested at all cruising spring break. We cruised once in the summer for a girls trip. There were two hurricanes we dodged and we didn't know until 2 days before the cruise if they were going to have to cancel or go to different ports which we were not interested in. Besides, cruising in the colder months gives a nice break to the sun and fun.

Thank you. We always enjoyed kicking off the cruise with a fish bowl in the Red Frog. The last time we were there, they were out of fish bowls and the were serving drinks in pitchers.

My daughter works in the school system and the only time she can cruise is spring break and summer. We won't cruised during those times which is a shame because we would love to cruise with them.

We did it, we booked Venezia for next Christmas. She'll be in Canaveral and closer to home. The hubs is really looking forward to a different type ship. I'm sure we'll enjoy our cruise, we always do.

That's true. I have seen "young adults" drink on the ship, but not to rowdiness. I'm assuming they're 21+. But I have seen lots of drinking on port beaches. Also, lets not forget there is a lot of booze smuggling going on. We avoid cruising during spring break season, but I've read horror stories from those who have.

Absolutely. All it takes is for a partying 20something to book the rooms. Chaperones can only do so much to control drunk 20 year olds. Heck, some parents can't control their kids or chose not to.

I agree with all the above comments. If you do decide to cruise during this time, don't do a 4 to 5 day "booze cruze". The longer cruises will still be crowed with college breakers and kids, but just a bit less chaotic. Just be prepared. 🙂

Great videos. I'm looking forward to more. We love the Valor. It's been a while since we've sailed her. Did you sail over Christmas day? We are booked on our first Christmas cruise Dec 14-21 next year.

I understand that they wait to see how many Plats/Diamonds will be on the cruise. Back when we used to purchase FTTF, it would come available a month to a couple weeks before the cruise. We would check on it several time a day to catch it. The cruise we're currently booked on for May, FTTF has been available for quite some time.

My grandson is on the spectrum, high functioning. He had moments when he was young with bullying. My daughter and SIL were good at telling him what he could expect and how to handle these situations. He is now a sophomore in college living on his own. Heck, my kids experienced bullying, too. Bullies are found everywhere, even on cruise ships

Thank you. I'm gathering all the info and reviews I can. I think being prepared will help with expectations. Anyway, we'll be on a cruise going to some of our favorite ports, we'll have fun.

This is all I'm going to say about this because I'm really interested in the Venezia. People down here would not consider children saying yes m'am and no m'am as being a brat. Again, different cultures, and upbringing.

My children were 2, 4 and 7. I don't know how that could have been taken as sarcastic. Actually, adults commented on how polite my childrwn were. I would have been ok with yes instead of yeah. I would agree with you that one adult chastising another was out of line. I was just raised with showing respect for elders and that is what I was trying to teach my children. Again, different cultures.

I'm a southerner that lived in NY for 5 long cold years. I can say there is definitely a culture clash. My school aged children were taught to say yes m'am, no m'am, etc. After a while they stopped saying this and started with saying yeah and no because the other kids laughed and made fun of them. Their whole attitude changed. We couldn't get back south fast enough. But I digress, we're booked on the Venezia in '25 when she'll be in Port Canaveral. The hubs is excited about this ship. I'm a little apprehensive because I have seen such mixed reactions. If the ship was sailing from other than NYC, would you sail her again?

You should go for it. You might regret it if you don't.

I thought you got a free bottle of wine at the steak house on embarkation night. Apparently a lot has changed in the 4 years since we cruised.

I'm with those who don't like the mega ships. The Dream and Vista class is about as big as I prefer. I do hope they keep up the smaller, older ships because I think there is still a market out there. A poster once posted about one of the mega ships and forgetting they were on a ship. I don't want to forget I'm on a ship.

We haven't cruise since right before the shut down. If I remember, Red Frog had a fish bowl for a discounted price at embarkation and the casino bar used to have happy hours. Are there any happy hours at any of the bars now? We'll being sailing on the Magic in May.

It's supposed to get down to 19° tonight and 16° tomorrow in Atlanta. You might want to stay a few more days in Miami. Should be in the low 60s later in the week.
