  1. I have been invited to read one of my published short stories this afternoon on a Zoom program that will be viewed all over North America.
  2. Does anyone have this model exerciser ? I bought one a few days ago not realizing that it uses a Lithium battery.I am concerned about the possibility of the battery causing a fire.
  3. Do you drink any beverages that you enjoyed in your teens aside from alcohol ? My favorite beverages of my youth were malteds and ice cream sodas .I cannot recall the last time I drank either.
  4. I have never gained weight on a cruise. My cruise day begins with an hour of exercise in the Fitness Center before breakfast. On Sea days walking on the ship for at least an hour. Then either engaging in a Trivia competition or sitting by a window reading a book. On port days ,Fitness Center for 45 minutes and as much walking as possible in the port.
  5. We all have different tastes,no pun intended. It would be a very dull world if we all agreed on everything. I respect everyone’s opinion .
  6. On September 11,2001 I had a job interview scheduled for 9:30 AM in the HR Department of Two World Trade Center. The interview was arranged for me by my friend Barry a retired member of the NYPD who was working as Chief of Security at a company in the WTC.I was excited at the opportunity to possibly work there because I knew many people employed in the WTC. Barry suggested that I come at 8:30 ,meet him for breakfast and he would take me to HR.A few days before I received a call changing my interview for a later date.Barry died on 9/11 .Many people credit him for saving their lives.Over the years Toby and I have been to 911 memorials all over the US to talk about Barry. Across the street from where I live there is a memorial wall dedicated to the members of the FDNY who died on 9/11 who were residents of our town .This memorial has survived two hurricanes.
  7. I almost never check my e-mail at bedtime .However, last night I did and saw an e-mail from a friend of 75 years ,a retired Sgt.with the NYPD.I thought it was going to be a 911 related e-mail but it was him letting me know that Susan ,a dear friend of both of us from JHS and HS passed away in her sleep on Saturday. We were both shocked to hear this. This morning after showering I found something on my armoire that disappeared in my house more than 20 years ago. When I was in Elementary school during the Korean War children were issued dog tags containing their name ,address ,SS number and fathers name .Toby was going through a box in her closet and found it .Was she directed to the box by a thought ,she has no idea.Just a bit eerie that it was found today.
  8. My wife and I did a cross country tour of the US stopping in 43 cities over a period of three weeks. We did a five week tour of Canada stopping in many cities in Quebec and Ontario We ate in at least one restaurant per city.During the 1972 to 1997 restaurants visits we were in hundreds of restaurants. That was the advantage of working in Manhattan. The cuisines that I enjoyed the most were Italian ,Spanish,Yemenite and Moroccan.
  9. I have only traveled in North and South America. In 1967 my sister in law and her husband went to Montreal for Expo’67.They loved it so much that in 1969 my wife and I took a trip to Montreal. We stayed at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel for two weeks, fell in love with Montreal and vacationed there 9 more times. We did 8 more vacations touring Canada.
  10. What does being a Philistine have to do with pizza ?
  11. My son in law who lives near me was there last week with my 15 year old granddaughter. She is on her HS tennis team .My older granddaughter was co-Captain of the tennis team when she was in HS. I was never at the Open but I played competitive tennis when I was younger. One of the regulars on the courts where I played was Sheila Maroschick. She was a HOF Handball player and a terrific tennis player. If she concentrated on tennis I believe she would have been among the best.
  12. Our very first cruise in 1973 was supposed to be on the Americanism,a Greek line ship. The ship had severe problems on its way back to NY and our TA offered a Cunard cruise as a substitute. It was a great ship and cruise.
  13. How many cuisines have you tried? When I was working in NY from 1972 to 1997 every Friday several co-workers and I endeavored to eat at a different ethnic restaurant.I do not believe there is one that we did not try but of course I could be wrong.
  14. I cannot follow this totally on a cruise as I cannot get spelt bread or almond butter. Therefore, for breakfast I will have a bowl of oatmeal. I have not been on a cruise since December 2019.

  16. My very first job (not on a cruise ship) was in 1959.I was told that there would not be a salary but I should expect tips.I cannot fathom a person in 2023 having a job without a salary.
