  1. I wonder if the midnight snacks are more cost effective vs the deli and say, guys opening up for a couple of hours at night?
  2. Hi there, I’d be a little weary about booking something too early. There is always that chance of a customs inspection that may delay debark. I know that rough seas prevented the panorama from entering the harbor at some point causing a late debark. Best of luck! Safe travels.
  3. Hi, Long beach is our home port. The Queen Mary is literal steps away from the Carnival cruise terminal. Long Beach has plenty of restaurants that you can grab a bite at during your stay. There is even a water taxi for a few dollars that is a quick sightseeing trip that operates during the day. If you arrive early enough there is aquarium of the pacific nearby and also a small outlet mall in case you need some last minute things. The Mexican riviera is really underrated. Plenty of activities are available in each port. We usually use a local vendor for tours as it can save you a great deal compared to ship prices, however keep your eye on the time as to not miss the ship. The first day or two on this itinerary may not have the best weather but as you travel south the weather get hot and humid. Don’t forget your sun screen. Have a great time.
  4. They offer them for sale onboard. You can always pick one up on eBay if you’d like.
  5. Yea, your room key will be platinum from day 1.
  6. Thanks for sharing! I hope this helps other cruisers. Have a great time!
  7. I understand cost cutting, but how about twice a day housekeeping for a fee? Squeezing 4 people to a room needs additional service.
  8. The port of Long Beach that carnival uses is pretty unique. There is an outdoor “bridge” or gangway that connects the actual building to the ship. We once embarked while it was raining and got fully drenched on that walk in. If you see rain in the forecast, perhaps pick up some dollar store ponchos.
  9. We always seem to do the same thing in Cabo. It’s become a tradition. Once you take a tender to shore there are multiple vendors offering a glass bottom boat tour. Usually it’s a smaller boat with a “hole cut in it” and a piece of glass put in. The water in Cabo is usually pretty clear. The boat leaves the Marina and heads to the famous Arch. Once there most of the captains will throw some corn tortillas overboard and hundreds of colored fish come to eat it up and you get a great view. On our last trip one vender even had a boat that was made out of plexy-glass and was completely transparent. Most of the vendors charge $8-$15 per person and the dock adds a $1 tax per person. Once we’re done with the tour we ask the captain to drop us off at medrano beach to have lunch at the plentiful restaurants on the beach. Nothing like a cold drink with your toes in the sand. It’s an interesting experience because there is no dock on the beach, the boat just pulls up in the sand and you time your exit to miss the waves. Have fun!
  10. The individual packets are okay. I was told, once we brought them onboard we couldn’t take them off the ship as it’s a food item?
  11. I remember one year we did a cruise on the inspiration or imagination and the sea was so rough they couldn’t dock in Long Beach. The ship ended up having to dock in San Diego and we were bussed down to meet the ship. It was a unique experience. Cool thing about cruises is that there’s always that element of surprise.
  12. Last time we went, we walked off the ship and just outside the port area there are these taxi’s that look like modified VW bugs. We paid something like $40 for him to drive us around for a little, stopped at a convenience store to get some refreshments before heading to the yellow church on the hill. We then caught another ride back to port.
  13. Another option maybe a name change? Perhaps find someone else willing to go? There is a fee for the name swap.
  14. We try to make arrangements to be able to get off the ship as late as possible. We are usually one of the last to get off the ship. Less crowds, and most of the luggage was picked through so we could find our bags more easily.
  15. Can anyone share their experience if we need to prebook the kids antigen tests at the port? I see something to prebook for $100 per person but not sure if the “kids testing” is separate from that?
  16. Do you have a PVP at carnival? I’d call them and ask, sometimes they can work some magic. Mine is great!
  17. I left my TV on overnight and tuned it to the forward facing deck camera. That way, when the sun came up I knew it.
  18. They offer testing at lax with results in 90 minutes for Pcr tests but you need to prebook. If you just need an antigen test there are kits you can buy online and it is proctored so you can get a document for travel.
  19. https://www.carnival.com/Legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-guest-protocols?icid=advisory_cruisehealth_040122 What kind of pre-cruise COVID-19 tests are acceptable? Guests must be tested with a COVID-19 viral test that is either an antigen test or a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT). Antigen tests include (acceptable for fully vaccinated guests only): Rapid antigen test Viral antigen test Antigen Chromatographic Digital Immunoassay Antigen Chemiluminescence Immunoassay, or Antigen Lateral Flow Fluorescence NAAT include (acceptable for vaccinated and unvaccinated guests): PCR – Polymerase chain reaction RT-PCR – reverse transcription real time PCR Quantitative PCR (qPCR) Reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) test Transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) test Molecular test or molecular diagnostic test Isothermal amplification Droplet Digital PCR or digital droplet PCR (ddPCR) Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) A rapid antigen or rapid PCR test is acceptable (of the test types listed above).
  20. Welcome back! Hopefully the overcast (fog) isn’t too bad. In LA we call it June gloom. 😖
  21. Quick, someone call turkey and tell them not to disassemble one of the fantasy class ships and send it back this way.
