  1. If we could just bottle the "coom-by-ah" on this thread, and sprinkle it like fairy "be nice" dust over the rest of the board, that would be helpful. Off topic: I found out where that expression (totally misspelled here): missionaries in Africa were teaching a song called, "Come by Here, Lord", and the Africans pronounced it this way.
  2. Yes, I looked them up. They are extended, but they are also going to someone who needs them as back-ups during August. It's all good.
  3. Yeah, but even with the extension to November, no way will I use 17 by the end of Nov. Plus, I have a BinaxNOW expiring in Dec. If no takers here, I'll take some dow n to the "giveaway room" here, better known as "the mailroom". It's like a mini-food bank and free thrift store rolled into one.
  4. Thank you for the information. I will still have way too many. So, they now expire Nov 9, 13, and 26th. Offer is still open.
  5. The Feds messed up my first request, so 3 weeks later I asked again. Well, first was one month, and second was the next month, so they sent them BOTH! I now have 17 test kits that expire 8/9, 8/13, and 8/26. Contact my board name with an ri added on, at that yahoo place.
  6. I guess that's a nice thing, but I seriously will have a hard time keeping up with my now 6 vouchers. I get two ginormous bottles of Pellegrino, so there's only so many little bottles I can drink during the day. Maybe I can try virgin drink or two, if there are any that won't put me in a sugar coma.......................................
  7. HA! You sound like a "soft-shell crab" to me, poocher!!
  8. So, I guess my "regulars" getting my vouchered drinks were slooooooooooooow. HA!
  9. Yes, it happens a lot. The only point I want to make here is that people with walkers, wheelchairs, canes, crutches, walking casts, etc., need to find out where the handicap entrance is located. I was in a loooooooooooooooooong line at POM, and the luggage porter told me where the handicap door was (which I didn't need). But, later I saw a guy walking by with a cane to get in the end of the line, and I told him about the entrance. That man would not have made it in that line: there was no place to even sit down while letting your companion get in line. My deceased husband had a severe back problem with standing stationary for any time. He would get in line, I would scout/get permission for him to go inside and wait in a chair until I got inside. Then, I'd go back and tell him so he could go in. That has always irritated me with embarkation docks: they need handicap waiting areas.
  10. But it was a surprise. So, the woulda, coulda, shoulda (in my opinion only) is a little harsh. I'm here on this board to help people. There's already too much harshness in the way we treat each other these days. I believe a little sugar with the bad news is best. Help solve the problem, then "hey, next time......".
  11. You can ask them to check. Your "non" charges don't show up until the next day. I take just enough cash tip money for my freebies, and when it's gone, my vouchers on the card are gone, too.
  12. We do not penalize people with small children: we help them. They are special cases. I had an experience on a bus in Barbados when my youngest was under 3. An elderly gentleman carried my son on his lap for the entire crowded, long bus trip. I made a promise to myself to pay it forward from then on. Yes, "everyone" should not go early, but traveling with toddlers is different.
  13. Step 1: I would call RCCL and explain the time is a problem with your young child (e.g. nap time). Ask for an earlier time that allows for testing. Step 2: Get there at 1pm, and after the test just go in the terminal. Tell anyone that questions you that you didn't know how much time to allow for testing the 4 yo, and you need to get on the ship for naptime, or it will likely be meltdowntime instead. They will accommodate you.
  14. I used SAS in April when I got off the Jewel in Miami and flew out of FLL. They are only $15, and it was very easy. SAS does not go to the Miami airport. The web site I listed above, http://metroshuttleservice.com/Online-Booking-Shuttle-Service-Shared.html, goes to both airports from both ports, and when you go to the booking form page, it allows you to select 1 person in the "shared" ride.
  15. http://metroshuttleservice.com/Online-Booking-Shuttle-Service-Shared.html Yes, it looks like you can book for one.
  16. If you are somewhere you have a wifi signal, take a BinaxNOW or test kit of choice and have a proctored test on the ship or in your hotel. OnPoint does the proctored test with the free US government test kits. Much easier than searching out a pharmacy, and results in 15 minutes. My son and his fiancée have been traveling in Italy for the last week. So far, no COVID problems for them (vax'd and boosted). They already decided if they get COVID, they're going to Lake Como to quarantine.** ** that's a joke
  17. Shared shuttle: http://metroshuttleservice.com/Shuttle-Service-from-Port-Everglades-to-MIA.html before tip. $25 pp Uber: $48 before tip. Estimate: for up to 3 people
  18. I have stayed in both Promenade View and Virtual Balcony inside cabins. I like them both for the extra light coming in. Curtains need to be attended to in both rooms: the VB lightens as the sun comes up, so close the curtains if you don't want a giant window waking you up at dawn!
  19. My son is over in Italy right now, and he's been in a major heat wave since he arrived with his fiancée on 6/10. I was in the Med in June and also got into a heat wave in Greece. May not be constant, but I've been there in October 2- 3 times, and the weather was in the 79's. More rain that time of year in the am, but the high's were very comfortable.
  20. If you are D+, or Pinnacle, call the C&A number, and ask if speaking to Loyalty Resolutions might be faster.
  21. For future reference: As soon as you get on the ship Day 1, go to MTD and find out what time the head waiter will be there to take requests. If no one is there, go to the other dining rooms and ask. It's usually 1-2 pm. Find out which side MTD is located on, and go there to check out the tables. Pick several you like. Then, go back and talk to the head waiter about a good time and the tables you would like. This is the best way to get your table for Day 1, and to get to know the head waiter/manager. Then, during or after dinner on Day 1, go tell him what you want going forward. DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS AT DINNERTIME WHEN YOU HAVE TO STAND IN LINE. With your table and time already assigned on Day 1, you just go to the table, or ask a waiter that is standing there waiting to seat people of the table is available for you. You never have to wait in line at all, ever. MTD is not really "anytime": it's just a more flexible schedule, but it's not working very well.
