  1. My latest cruise I booked, I signed up for fixed seating. My sister is paying for this cruise for my birthday, so I want her to be comfortable, and the rat race of the first several nights of MTD and getting a table is NOT what want her to experience. On my last cruise we were a group of 5, and it took us several nights to confirm our table in MTD. That's the only way (to me) to survive the dinner crowds. Either get a confirmed table and wait staff in MTD, or go with fixed dining. Walk in and sit down.
  2. Yes, I've had this problem for several days. When I click on the "person icon" and click "select a different cruise" it will only show me the latest one I've looked at, and wants me to add the next cruise. Then, when I enter the information it says "this cruise is already linked", and will (temporarily) show me the whole list. If I go to any other screen except the full list, the next time I navigate back to the list, it will again only show me the most recently viewed cruise. Huge bug in the app. Huge. Until they get it fixed, here's what I'm doing (yes, it's irritating to have to do this). I opened the Notes app on my iphone, listed all my cruises WITH THEIR BOOKING NUMBER. Then, before I even open the Royal app, I copy the booking number for the cruise I want to look at. Paste in the look up a cruise screen when I get to it, and go through the whole "already linked" process. But, at least I've cut out a bunch of rummaging through my email to find booking numbers to get to my cruises in the app. My profession was as a project manager of software development, so I KNOW what they aren't doing to have software this buggy. They aren't testing it properly before it goes live with the user. Sloppy software development cycle, and makes me think they have low grade contractors doing the work. Cheaper for RCCL.
  3. I had issues with a few web sites with my Surface Pro yesterday and today, using Chrome. It might have been some kind of update, but my adblocker extension was set to "on" for my mail provider and RCCL.
  4. Definitely in the palate of the beholder. The group of 4 others I was with also thought the food was very good in the Main Dining Room, and we had a discussion about how tender the protein entrees were in general.
  5. I didn't see any of the menu items above that I didn't have on the menus for my 10/20 Enchantment cruise last month. What I have noticed in September and October this year the food on all the ships I sailed has really improved. I think they have recently started broasting the fish, chicken, and beef, because nothing was served overcooked and dry.
  6. RCCL makes really nice celebratory cakes. My Pinnacle cake was HUGE, with colored white chocolate pineapple fronds about 4 inches long, and tasted amazing. We gave the remainder to the dinner dining staff to eat while they set up the dining room for breakfast.
  7. Guys usually keep their friends for life. My son had his friend from pre-school through college stay with him last weekend and go to a concert. They are 46. Have son take a buddy with him.
  8. That's what laundry carts are for........................😉
  9. Unless you are going to Bermuda, testing is no longer required. But, I would advise you to test him again on Sunday. If he is still negative, you are well within RCCL's policy. Depending on how long ago the party was, you might want to continue testing him on the ship, too. If it was one of my grandchildren, I would have the child wear a mask on elevators, and around a crowd of people anywhere on the ship. Your judgement call about Adventure Ocean.
  10. I agree in sprit. However, there are a large number of businesses (as in Key West) that suffer with the loss of passenger purchases. The 60% voting majority, I'm guessing, is local residents. If you asked the businesses I think they have a different opinion. If those businesses have to close up for lack of customers due to decreased cruise passengers, then the local resident customers lose, also. Double-edged sword.
  11. Well, it's obvious it's not mandatory if you can remove them. But, it's also wise to note there are some hard working crew members you cannot reach who share in the tips. You can add a tip (I think) for "kitchen staff", or "cleaning staff", etc., at Guest Services. I just find it simpler to leave the auto tips and know that everyone whose making my cruise great is being acknowledged.
  12. It's supposed to be passengers, but there's ongoing litigation, so cruise ships are still going there. RCCL has several ships stopping there. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-to/key-west-florida?&country=USA
  13. This hasn't been addressed specifically: the people that do not provide service to you face-to-face, but work behind the scene, are also included in a share of your auto tips . So, if you remove the auto tips, then these people will not be paid their share.
  14. I thought Key West's solution was more reasonable: I think they actually looked at ship capacity and decided on 1,500 passengers, knowing that RCCL's smaller ships would still stop. In Bar Harbor's case, they might have snipped of their nose to spite their face. The merchants may have issues with all the lost business. I think some of the suggestions in this thread are good for substitute ports.
  15. Yes, and from what I've read and seen myself, they make every effort to substitute something that is equal/near equal for their Pinnacles. It's not the NAME of the venue, it's the EXPERIENCE of the venue.
  16. In the world I live in, I have never been well-heeled, and spent 49 years achieving Pinnacle level. I enjoyed the Suite Lounge and CK on the Allure, but equally enjoyed the DL on the Enchantment, which had a Concierge Lounge for Suite and Pinnacle passengers. The thing is, I don't want to go into a noisy, crowded lounge, so wherever they tell me I can go for some less noisy relaxation, that's where I go. RCCL also provides a quieter place for breakfast, and if it's CK, Chops, Solarium Bistro, I appreciate it all. To me, it's got nothing to do with whatever I've paid over the years for reaching Pinnacle, and therefore have "earned" / "paid" for certain privileges. For me it's got everything to do with relaxing with some extra perks that RCCL has graciously allowed me to have for being a loyal customer.
  17. This year on the Allure in September Pinnacles were allowed in the Suite Lounge, and in Coastal Kitchen, too. On the Enchantment in October this year Suites and Pinnacles were allowed in the Concierge Lounge.
  18. Sounds like a good idea. I'm cruising with a group of 4 other passengers.
  19. HA!! Sounds like my friend who doesn't know how to change her text message alert, and for some reason when I text from my iphone it BLARES on her end! I can't wear watches: they make me OCD and crazy. Stopped wearing them in my 20's, and have developed a very finetuned sense of time. Like, just now I stopped typing, looked up, and said "it's about 7:30". It was 7:25.
  20. Sometimes the recipient ASKS for them for Christmas, birthdays, Mother's Day, to help pay for cruises and obc. I LOVE me my gift certs from my family.
  21. I avoid banks, well, like the plague..................... I saw a cash machine last week on the Enchantment, so ask if there's one when you sail. Cashier will break the bill, but will want to give large denominations to you, BUT they prefer to work with a cashed out ticket from a machine, so yes, put it in the machine and cash it out. Guest Services will, but I've never been on a cruise where they weren't completely slammed for the first few days. I'd use the casino.
  22. Absolutely!!! My Echo runs my lights and music. Auto on and off, or voice command. My curated playlists on-demand, etc.
  23. Order sashimi anywhere. Take your own soy sauce. I'd rather have sashimi anytime over sushi. Izumi on RCCL ships has lunch on most sea days. Plus, it's on the Navigator sailing out of San Pedro. LOVE Izumi. Ask if Remi is still there, and sit in his section. Tell him Peggy told you about Izumi and him. He's like my Asian brother from another mother.
  24. LOVE my Apple Airtags. What I like is knowing the luggage is in the terminal when I go down to claim it. If it isn't (hasn't happened yet), then the app will locate it for me, and I can head to the airline's baggage customer service office. For instance, the first time I used it, my iphone told me it was .1 mile away in the terminal where I was standing at the baggage carousal. Just waited until it came by. Peace of mind. They are also great for finding your car in a huge parking lot, finding your purse or car keys. Sometimes in between trips I will use it for this. I just wish I could use it on my phone. I'm forever putting it down someplace odd at home. Someone should invent a "clapper" app for phones, like the lamps that turn on and off when you clap..........
