Given the port times on a cruise, i think you are pretty much tied to what the ships sell.
The independent tours depart or get back at times that are not suitable for cruise schedules.
But if you have time before or after the cruise, there are a few fabulous smaller operators in Cairns and Port Douglas. There is one that takes a sailing catamaran with out to the Low Isles for a full day of snorkelling and diving.
Not as busy as the huge boats with many hundreds that go to the pontoons on the outer reef. (But those are great as well. Just not as laid back)
I always thought that the point of Schoolies is to have a holiday WITHOUT the parents. As nice as a cruise IS, perhaps the kids want to experience Schoolies with their mates
Ever since one of our suitcases was "misdirected", we pack her stuff and my stuff together.
That is half of my things and half *well 1/5, 4/5* of her stuff per suitcase. We increase our chances to have at least some things at the other end.
If you are talking about cruising FROM Australia, then the issue that I am having is the very limited selection of destinations.
Especially if you have limited time.
Its basically to the Eastern Territory (aka New Zealand) or up and down the coast between Sydnsy and Queensland.
Google "bounce luggage storage circular quay ".
There is a branch at City Extra restaurant at Circular Quay.
I believe you are supposed to pre book, but i have seen plenty of people just rock up and deposit luggage there.
Open 24 hours. Opposite wharf 4. And 5 minutes walk along the waterfront from the cruise terminal
You do know that they do not use bottled water to make ice, coffee, tea, buffet juices from the dispensers, ice tea, water poured from jugs at dinner......
Ok. Now REALLY for something completely different:
We have a MG car and are arguing about the female voice of the GPS.
DW is adamant it is Sandra Sully.
Google does help.
Any ideas??
