  1. I hope one cruiseline will have the balls to drop "Christchurch " from the schedule. If they aren't wanted, they go somewhere else.
  2. Aaaaand the proper cruise season is opened. Celebrity Solstice in SYD today.
  3. Yeah the old "onboard credit". Spend thousands on a cruise and get $300 OBC. Per CABIN, mind you. Pfffff!
  4. What does that title of the post have to do with the content of the post itself
  5. Ahh, even if Premier Palace-Chook wants to be queen of her own country, still no Duty Free when crossing the borders of her realm.
  6. The Caribbean with their itsy-bitsy island nations isn't a place where you'd want to miss the boat. If you were to "do" that, a cruise up and down the coast of Italy would be the place. It would be annoying, but not a huge drama. The ports are SO close together that it would be easy to catch up. I guess even by bicycle you'd be in the next port earlier than the ship. (πŸ˜‰)
  7. People don't miss the boat anymore, it seems. I haven't seen any NEW pier running incidents in a long, long time. πŸ™ƒ
  8. I'm in two minds about that ship. A one-week loop US-Carribbean would hardly give you the chance to fully experience the thing. Imagine the time it takes to get everyone on and off at every port... Not worth flying all the way to Florida for that. Then it would be definitely outside school holidays. And I would want a top-of-the-range cabin. It looks like a pass from me.
  9. It won't hurt to try, mate. If I "win" a few tix, you can have 2 of mine. πŸ™‚
  10. When you apply through the NSW government / Transport fir NSW websites, they ask for a NSW postcode. When/if you win tickets, they will probably ask for some sort of prove.
  11. Ha. πŸ™‚ Watched from the penthouse suites of the Four Seasons last year and The Crown the year before (looking DOWN on the fireworks from there). Sometimes it has its perks to work in hospitality. Or have a mate that does... πŸ˜‰
  12. Hi all. The official City of Sydney website for this year's fireworks and other festivities has gone live. https://www.sydneynewyearseve.com Apart from that, NSW residents can from today enter a ballot for tickets for prime viewing points of the fireworks. https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/news-and-events/nye-on-the-cahill-expressway-2023
  13. Perhaps drop the "low-cost" ships there. Like Ryanair selling Frankfurt and landing you in Hahn, well over 100 km away.
  14. Brisbane seems to be the training ground for Border Force / Customs. From a former life in the i remember Brisbane as THE airport where airline crew was hassled far, far more than in other airport in Australia. Of course, airline crew is the easiest target and will rarely make a fuss. Even after a 15-hour duty day. Along those lines, I think it is excellent that the fines for smuggling in food, plant material and such organic matters have been SIGNIFICANTLY increased. The amount of stuff people WHO LIVE or STUDY here "forget" to declare is mind boggling. Feigning ignorance doesn't cut it. Rules are clearly explained in many languages on every flight into Australia. And the countless pictures and displays at airports after you land are more than clear.
  15. To use our public transport (train, tram, bus, ferry) you can use a stored value card called "Opal card" or a credit card. To get through access gates or on buses you touch your card on a card-reader (just do as others do) to get on AND OFF(!!!) the relevant mode of transport. The fare will automatically charged to the card you used. It is important to use the same card getting on and off.
