  1. Just a question for the gentlemen on this board who have beards. Do you trim your beard at home with a beard trimmer or go to a barber for regular trims? Asking for a friend.- my DH. He had it trimmed once so far and is thinking about getting a trimmer to take care of his beard by himself. Thanks for any advice. MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  2. @Sea Dog My two cents- You look younger without the mustache, however,it does compliment your name of SeaDog. As long as you and your wife like the โ€˜stash, thatโ€™s all that matters. My DH has had a mustache for years. It goes with his face,or maybe I am used to it for all these years. Recently,he decided to grow a beard !!! I think it makes him look much older as it is all white. Hoping he decides to shave it off one of these days. @Keksie It looks like the kitchen reno will open up the area to the living room. Looks good. I am always interested in renovations and decorating done to peopleโ€™s homes. Hope the work continues to go as planned and that you are pleased with the final results. @lenquixote66 Glad that you finally got a Mickey Mouse tee shirt ! My DH has worn a gold Mickey Mouse watch for years. Mickey is very subtle on the watch face,a small image near the numeral 6. It is a prized possession for him. Reminds him to be young at heart ! As for the Playoff Games so far- Chiefs had a tough game -weather wise. Playing in those temps showed their tenacity. Glad the Packers won- a young team coming together with Love playing great.. Also glad for the Lionsโ€™ win - always cheer for the underdog. It was their first Playoff Game win in decades. Hoping the Bills hold on to their lead tonight. Another freezing cold game, but itโ€™s January in Buffalo. It will be interesting who wins the Bucsโ€™ Eaglesโ€™game later tonight. It seems that football and the weather are giving a lot of people something to talk about! Stay safe and warm everyone! MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  3. Not at the Red Frog with the others so it seems. MJ
  4. So,let me understand this. b2b passengers who have been on a Noro infested ship are going to be bused to a local Mall to return to the ship after noon. I understand that the ship needs to have a deep cleaning/sanitation and passengers must leave the ship, but doesnโ€™t that put those passengers into a general population that could be infected by those who have been exposed to Noro on the ship? This is how viruses get out of hand. I would think that there would be a better plan to accommodate the returning passengers while the ship is being cleaned. Perhaps put them in part of the terminal or a lounge on the ship that could be cleaned once passengers were allowed to return to their cabins. Another thought- I became ill on a Summit cruise this past June. I thought it was either food poisoning or Noro virus. After we returned home, I still did not feel well and took a Covid test. It was positive. Our family Doctor told me that intestinal upset is a symptom of Covid. Perhaps this doesnโ€™t matter really, because both Noro and Covid are nasty viruses. MJ
  5. Just a thought-with Rover being onboard, will that encourage passengers to bring the family dog on a cruise? I am not referring to service dogs, but pets. MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  6. @Jimbo You are indeed a fortunate man to have good health. My grandson was diagnosed with Diabetes 1 at age seven. My DH has anxiety and the medication he takes improves both of our lives. I have been taking Asthma medication since my early forties. I think most of the responses here to your post has caused you to realize that medication is not an age issue, but, perhaps a quality of life issue. Now, back to @island lady and her posts about her cruise. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  7. Hello Norris- I was pleased to find your present GSJ. ( Since I have read many of your cruise reviews, I know what the letters GSJ stand for on CC!). I will frequently check here for more of your postings. The photos of the Ruby bring back fond memories of the Crown as I think they are sister ships. We enjoyed two cruises on the Crown when she was brand new. I agree that those Promenade decks are the best for connecting to the ocean and taking invigorating walks. it is a pity that those decks are not an element of the newer designed ships. Hoping that you feel better each day. Wishing you and Carol many good days in 2024 ! MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  8. @mo&fran There are some You Tube videos of people on the WC. One is by a retired couple- I think they go by Life Phase 2 (or something like that). If you search RCL World Cruise on You Tube , their site should come up. As I have noted before @island lady is doing a great job of keeping CC readers up to date on the WC and their experiences. Maybe, among the โ€œnewโ€ passengers that boarded the ship recently, someone may be posting on CC as well. MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  9. Happy New Year, everyone! The various posts about RCLโ€™s World Cruise caused me to do a bit of research. (Yes,it was a quiet day yesterday, so the research gave me something to do!). I looked at some cruise line companies that have done these cruises for a number of years. Princess-WC for January 2025-116 days,51 destinations,26 countries,6 continents. HAL-January 2025- 124 days,46 ports,32 countries. Viking- January 2025- 138 days-57 ports,28 countries,5continents. For those of you thinking about a 2024 WC, Cunard has availability- January 2024-107 nights. All sold out except for Queens Grill Suites from $197,599. The length of these cruises seem more doable than RCL IMHO. Getting back to the RCL WC, I would like to thank @island lady (I think her name is Pat and DHโ€™s name is Bucky.). for taking the time to post updates on her impressions and experiences of the cruise. Wishing you continued good days and interesting adventures! There is a couple posting their WC experiences on You Tube. I think they go by Life Phase 2. I donโ€™t have a link to their site, but if you search YT for the RCL World Cruise, they should come up. They are documenting both their experiences on the ship and the excursions they are taking. Enjoy the day! MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  10. @lenquixote66 Lenny-Small world connection. You mentioned Florida,NY. One of my good friendโ€™s ex husband and his second wife live in Florida, NY! I think it is near Nyack , NY. Take care MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  11. Now, that is a feast of seven fishes I could handle! One of my friends has been cooking/preparing the feast for days. She is serving shrimp, calamari, fish sauce, clams, baccala (sp?), flounder and oysters. Another friend is cutting down the tradition and having shrimp and prime rib. With my Irish German background, we did not have the tradition of fish on Christmas Eve, but we have celebrated the Eve with Italian friends and have enjoyed the feast! We all celebrate in different ways. The important thing is being with family and friends at this time of year! Cheers! MJ ๐Ÿคถ
  12. Sending good wishes at Christmas to all who post here.- For those who are missing a loved one at their holiday table, I wish you peaceful hearts and good memories. For those dealing with health issues and upcoming surgeries, I wish you successful outcomes, healing recoveries and good days in the new year. For those travelling now or later, I wish you adventures full of enjoyment, wonder and safety. For those who are raising children, I wish you patience and courage as you keep them in your heart while letting them discover what life offers them. For everyone who is dealing with the ups and downs of life, I wish you compassionate people in your life to help get you through the rough spots and celebrate with you during the good times. I just read over my wish list for all who post here. It occurred to me that those are wishes for everyday, not only at Christmas ! So, happy Christmas and wishes to all for a peaceful and healthy new year. MJ ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽ„
  13. Dani-Very glad to see that you and others could take a breather at the local beach. I always think that looking at water ,wether it is ocean , bay or lake etc is a relaxing thing to do. Take care- MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  14. @Sea Dog Since you askedโ€ฆ I think the money from the cancelled cruise could be used in other ways instead of the lights. IMHO they make a house look like the buildings lit up on Main Street in Disneyworld- a bit too commercial for my taste. The poster who suggested using the $$$ for and aide/caretaker for Linda post shoulder surgery and/or a housekeeper during both of your recovery time is a very good suggestion. It would make both of your lives easier while dealing with post-op pain and healing. But, it is your $$$,your house and your decision,of course. MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  15. @Ozark_Kid Good to see Kenzie in the photos! She has a great spirit and I love the leopard! Hoping Santa is good to Kenzie and her brother and sister! Best wishes to you and your family for a joyous Christmas! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  16. I think that HAL and the Cunard Queen ships have been doing WCs for years. This WC is new for RCL and, really, out of the realm of their usual cruise itineraries as @Ocean Boy posted. It could be a one and done for RCL as they tested the waters (no pun intended) to see if such a cruise would appeal to their usual customers. It seems that RCL โ€˜s niche is focused on families with the innovations they have put on their ships-water slides, flowriders and promenades with all sorts of entertainment. Financially, the bean counters at RCL may have realized that a WC cruise does not fit the RCL profile. Of course, this WC will proceed, possibly as an experiment. I think it will be interesting to read about the WC, with all the port stops and to read about the passengersโ€™s experience on such an undertaking. Bon Voyage to all on the WC! For those who may be inspired to go on such a travel adventure, consider other cruise lines that do an annual WC. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  17. @Ocean Boy When work schedules and Christmas dates aligned, my DH and I would go into the City on New Years Day and stay a few days to see a show and go to the Met. Museum of Art. The decorations were still in place, but the City was much quieter than before Christmas. We havenโ€™t been to NYC since the start of Covid and other things. Hoping you are having an enjoyable day despite the crowds. MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  18. Wow, Norris! You certainly have a lot of travel ahead of you! Enjoy every bit of it. I will definitely look for your review on the Princess boards-a very good way to begin 2024. Although, we never sailed on the Ruby, we took several cruises on the Crown which I think is the Rubyโ€™s sister ship. Photos of the ship in your review will bring back some pleasant memories. Wishing you and Carol a happy holiday season, bon voyage and many blessings in the new year! MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  19. Kelsie-Your kitchen plans sound good and reasonable to adjust what you have now in the kitchen to one that you will enjoy Open concept is the way to go to give you more open space and connection to the living room/family room area. We did a reno in 2009.I am still pleased with the design and openness of the kitchen. We had the โ€œwhile we are at it โ€œ mindset so, limited renewal work was done to our living room and family room as well. If those countertops are not to your liking, now is the time to change them out. One thing with any house reno job, and you may have heard this, it usually takes more$$$ and more time. Hoping you are entirely pleased with the finished job. Greg-Wishing you and Linda good results for your respective surgeries and recuperations. Good health is priority #1 as we are limited in our activities without it. Those remaining cruises you have booked will give you motivation to get well. I do enjoy reading live reviews and reviews of cruises posted by many on CC. I read them on many forums, namely those posted on RCL, Celebrity, Princess, NCL and sometimes Carnival. If there is too much chatter, I scroll past it to read what the OP is posting. There is a Princess poster @Bimmer09 who writes excellent reviews with photos of his cruises and travels. The only trouble is, he takes one , possibly two cruises a year, so the reviews limited. Wishing all who celebrate a very happy Hanukkah! Shalom MJ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  20. @bobmacliberty The photos of your daughterโ€™s home look lovely. I think the blue room may be a dining room. I do like that wall with the wallpaper. The floors are beautiful- just needed some TLC to bring out the quality of the wood. The house is quite an undertaking, but it has good bones and features. Hoping you will post photos of ongoing progress. I enjoy looking at homes for sale and home decor. In another life, I might have been an architect or interior designer. Wishing your daughter many happy days in her new home. Adding to the Christmas movies posts, here are some of our favorites,in no particular order- Christmas Story with Ralphie ((Youโ€™ll shoot your eye out !) Christmas Vacation (always hoping that Clark will be able to light up the house and get his Christmas bonus) Elf ( a little bit goofy, but Will Farrel is the one to deliver that elf) A Charlie Brown Christmas Story ( Linusโ€™ heartfelt delivery of the Christmas Story touches us every time we watch the movie) We plan to watch the new Eddie Murphy movie on Prime- Candy Cane Lane. It may be a good one! We live on a Lane which is a dead end street. Is that the same as a close ? Thinking close sounds better than a dead end street.๐Ÿ™„ Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend! MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
  21. @lenquixote66 Lenny- I think that we all have days like you had with all the cancellations. Not much we can do about it,but go to plan B,C or ,maybe even D. I am wishing you and Toby a restful night. @Sea Dog Greg- Your doctor visits to help with yours and Lindaโ€™s health issues remind me of our December calendar. I am not certain how it happened, but we have appointments with hubbyโ€™s ophthalmologist 2x with 2 weeks apart. He needs to have laser treatments to sharpen his vision after having surgery this Summer. We are skeptical, but he is going through with it. We also have Medicare wellness visits, I have routine cardiac tests and annual check up and our podiatrist visits. Add to the calendar a baby shower, a visit to an ailing friend (hubbyโ€™s friend since Kindergarten) in Connecticut and various Christmas celebrations both at our house and family/friends brings us to the end of December. All good, even the Drsโ€™ appointments. It was good that Linda could get to see a surgeon so soon and get her surgery set. Were you able to see the Dr about the possible hernia situation? I do hope all the medical issues get resolved for you both in an efficacious amount of time. Difficult to deal with it all at holiday time though. @Luckynana I just happened to pay our cable bill today. Two hundred, thirty four dollars for phone, internet and TV. This after I adjusted the TV pkg to a level lower than we had. We are limited here in LI with one carrier,Optimum, so the rates just keep going up. Wishing all here who post a pleasant week where you all feel safe and loved. It seems that the waving emoji I used has been cancelled!!! So,I can use one of these -๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธor๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ I think I will go with MJ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
