  1. We always take a very small fan because the cabins never get cold enough for us to sleep. It used to help with DH's snoring, but lately it's not loud enough for that. Fortunately, Carnival's TVs have a channel that has just soft music. I'll turn that on at night just low enough to drown out his snoring. It also works as a night light if you have to get up during the night.

We have taken in our carry-on as well as checked luggage...never had it taken in the last 5 years.

  2. We just dropped in at Cat's Lounge on the first sea day around 10:30am. The place was empty so we just sat around and chatted with each other for about a half hour or so.

We didnt have a planned/scheduled M&G through Carnival though. One day I would like to have a group big enough that we could do the cocktail party (I think it's about $12.00 pp in advance for an hour of "free" cocktails) and I really want to do a Cabin Crawl too. One day! :)

We did this on the Liberty one year...had a blast. I think our roll call had about 30 people and we kept the bartenders pretty busy. I think they were glad when we left. It was $12.50 pp if I remember correctly. You book it through the Wedding Planner. We also did a cabin crawl on one of our Princess' cruises...enjoyed that, too!

  3. Caramelo,

Thank you so much for all the time you took in writing such a wonderful review. I was kept in suspense waiting for the next chapter each day. You experienced such wonderful things and shared them with us so beautifully and in great detail -- I felt like I was there with you! I, too, am sad the story is over...hopefully I can find your future reviews on CC as I know they will be as exciting as this one.

  4. Caramelo, thank you so much for taking the time to write your review; you keep me in suspense waiting for the next chapters! I love the history of places I go and you've done an excellent job of giving us that, not to mention your awesome pictures. I can't imagine the time you've put into this and we appreciate it very much.

My husband and I are seriously considering this cruise, but I'm not the most coordinated person and am wondering about the wet landings...how deep is the water at these wet landings and is it hard to get back into the raft? Do you recommend keeping on your water shoes after the landings or is the terrain too hard for them?

Thanks again for all your time in posting your review and pix.

  5. We recently were on an RCI cruise and have always loved Carnival for its food quality and selections. We haven't found any other line that could beat Carnival, but the Serenade was very comparable. Carnival has more choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the quality is the same in my opinion. I think RCI beats Carnival at the buffet.

  6. We have sailed on Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, NCL and recently returned from Serenade of the Seas and I think the food was very comparable to Carnival's. We have not found any other cruise line that compared with Carnival's food until the Serenade. Carnival still has a better menu selection, but we felt the quality was just as good.

Not sure if it was just on the Serenade or true throughout RCI, but the buffet is closed after 9:00 so don't expect to grab a bite after the late show. We couldn't get room service to understand that we were ordering a Bistro Burger from their menu. They kept repeating hamburger...we ended up ordering a turkey pininni.

The buffet food is better than Carnival's and I agree the layout is much better -- 100% better over Princess's layout!

You will like the MDR food.
