  1. I pre-booked Chops lunch for our upcoming Odyssey cruise for both of us on each leg of our B2B. Once at Chops, I will ask if we can use the BOGO for it and maybe get a refund for one meal. If not, I'm ok with that but it doesn't hurt to ask. We really like Chops but have never tried their lunch, so looking forward to it! For those that have eaten the Chops lunch, how is it?
  2. "This was waiting in our cabin. We didn’t realize how hungry we were until I saw it. The drinks were still ice cold. Daiquiri and Mud slides. Damn Daniel." Here ya go for those that don't know!!! LOL!!!!
  3. I remember that phrase (BFE) from back when I was in my 20's, like half a century ago! I'm a country girl, so is that the common denominator or do some city folks remember it as well? Sorry taking away from your review Andrew! Feel free to scold me!
  4. On our last cruise, on 2 separate occasions, I experienced people grabbing an elevator in front of me when I had been the only one sitting there for awhile. As the door closed, I thanked them for taking my elevator (quietly hoping it would somehow get stuck). Most cruisers were courteous but most remembered are those who are not. When I first began using the scooter, I was a pretty bad driver and hit the wall or doorway a few times but never hit a person (thankfully)! If someone wasn't paying attention and blocking my way, sometimes others would say "just beep at them". I don't like using the beeper and it just sounds rude (only my opinion), so I would politely say "excuse me". I didn't consider my predicament a privilege for not waiting in line, going slow, etc., I didn't want to turn into a grouchy old lady on a scooter! There are those who grab elevators from waiting scooters, and there are some scooters that can get pretty mean too. Maybe all of us good Samaritans (like to think I am) can continue to set good examples! Happy cruising to all and cheers!
  5. I would think either ship really; however, if they enjoy video games, etc., I would lean towards Odyssey for the techy/lazer light type shows that they may enjoy! Find videos for both ships and let them watch, so you can decide together! Plenty of fun stuff on either ship IMO! Happy cruising!
  6. My SIL (severe seafood allergy) used to be a Master Chef for a classy Indianapolis restaurant, up until one of the other chefs had not properly cleaned one of the grills before she began cooking on it. She puffed up like a balloon! She quit her job and is no longer a restaurant chef. She said that was a very scary experience and she would not want it to happen again! She loves to cook, so felt sorry for her. Anyway, that was many years ago and she's now happily retired, living next door to her twin and BIL, way out in BFE on 40 acres! They grow most of their own food and are enjoying the peace and quiet.
  7. That's just me being a "Mrs Kravitz" (from the Bewitched TV series many, many moons ago)! Tom and I usually spend quite a bit of time at the pub and enjoy (at least I do) people watching. On the Promenades, you can see from one end to the other but on the Esplanade, it's cut up/jagged and walls get in the way. No big deal, just an observation. We'll be on Odyssey for my 70th birthday in February and I'm sure we'll both enjoy being on Odyssey again!
  8. I originally compared Wonder to Odyssey after taking a picture of both of them side by side, which was the reason for my comment. I was not trying to compare it to Harmony at all, just that Wonder was very, very wide. When we cruised on Wonder, the Promenade felt a lot wider than the other Oasis class ships but it has been awhile since we've cruised an Oasis class ship; however, Wonder is a lot wider compared to Odyssey. Sorry for any misunderstanding. I know what I was thinking but probably didn't describe it very well. Forgive me, I'm getting older! LOL! Cheers! https://cruisespotlight.com/compare/royal-caribbean-wonder-of-the-seas-vs-royal-caribbean-odyssey-of-the-seas/
  9. I would pick Harmony over Odyssey just because of the Central Park and Boardwalk areas. The high tech shows are ok but I would prefer Grease, again and again. Also, prefer the nice Promenades on Oasis class vs the cut-up Esplanade on Odyssey, where you cannot view the Esplanade from one end to the other as the walls are jagged and not people-watcher friendly IMO. Personal preferences I guess! As far as the width, I don't believe there's much difference between these two, maybe a little. However, the Wonder of the Seas is another story! She is very, very wide!!
  10. Oh yeah, been there, done that! For the 1st leg of our B2B on Mariner, we had a regular balcony room and the bed was near the door. No way that scooter was going to drive around the bed. DH had to remove the "heavy" battery and picked up the scooter and placed it on the couch near the balcony. Since it was my own scooter, I didn't want to turn it over to housekeeping at night, so we elected to leave it in our cabin on the couch. I used my cane (walking very slowly) that week so hubby didn't need to keep getting the scooter out for me. I mainly need it to get on and off the ship ramps, or if it is a huge ship (Oasis and Quantum classes), I will use the scooter to get around the ship. I was really glad that we had an accessible cabin for the 2nd week of our B2B!! Good luck and happy cruising!
  11. In our experience, if you book on-line, you will need to pay for it up front. If you are to get a comped dinner, you will need to wait until you get on board. Unless someone else disagrees.
  12. Have always wanted to cruise for NYE, so Tom and I booked the Adventure from PC for NYE 12/27/24! Prices are cheap IMO if you care to join us! We added the following January week as well for a B2B. Have a fabulous cruise and enjoy spending NYE and your b-day on the ship!! Will definitely follow virtually!! Safe travels and Happy Holidays to you three!! Cheers! Sal & Tom
  13. The aft cabin you mentioned (7712) shows an obstructed view. If it were me and we had more than 2 people, I would go for a JS that is non-obstructed, especially the ones on the "hump", where you are able to see both ends of the ship. Freedom shows them on Deck 9 (if still available). IMO a "spacious" OV balcony is not that much bigger and not worth the extra money. So, in short, I would do a regular non-obstructed OV balcony or a JS, and try to get one on the "hump"! Happy cruising! Cheers!
  14. No idea but your post title says 1/31; NYE would be 12/31. We booked our first NYE cruise on Adventure for 2024-2025, so would like to know your answer as well! Cheers!
  15. No clue. Just said that cause I have not cruised on all of the ships, so left room for error. LOL!
  16. Sweet sentiment but had to laugh at your typo!! Hope you are enjoying the holidays and return to cruising soon!
  17. We've seen small kids turned away from the pool and/or hot tub when eating ice cream cones. Of course, I'd rather cruisers spill a drink or drop the ice cream vs something else!😲
  18. We were with a group of B2B'ers escorted off of the Mariner last October and usually the turnaround would only take just a few minutes. However, we were unable to re-board, along with the new group of scheduled cruisers, because we were told that they (crew) were still looking for previous cruisers who had not left the ship yet. Then, along came a young couple off of the ship amidst the boos of the waiting crowd. They were both smiling and taking their sweet time walking through the terminal. Once they got to security, they were both stopped for a search and the customs agents made them open up all of their luggage, probably to delay them as much as possible for making all of us wait to board the ship. So rude! Maybe it's now become a thing to be "the last ones to leave".
  19. Might have something to do with the winter blizzards and cruisers unable to get to the ship or return to their home states. Just guessing. Welcome to Cruise Critic!
  20. Depends on where you will be cruising in March. If in the Caribbean, the weather down there is usually great (70-80's). Most ships have a thermostat in each room, so you can adjust it as needed. I always sleep hot, so just wear a light nightgown to bed. Hubby wears socks to bed! LOL! Hope that helps!
  21. We just got off of the Wonder (December 11-18) and ate breakfast every morning at JR. Hubby had eggs cooked to order and I had the delicious egg, bacon and cheese sandwich! Not sure if the other Oasis class ships still do that or not but the Wonder served a "wonder"ful breakfast for us! P.S. JR was still complimentary as well!
  22. Wow! Not sure what to say about this. Hope it's not true and maybe was from a disgruntled crew member. Would need to know more facts for sure.
