  1. Dang. I reserved our parking back in April, so I guess the increase is more recent. I'm a little surprised the new tariff applies to the official port parking. Usually the city is trying to punish the independent places in favor of the port parking, like a few years ago when they started charging them every time an independent shuttle entered the port area, but of course didn't charge for the port shuttles.
  2. We paid $87 to park in the garage across from Terminal 1 (or whatever it is now) for our 5-day this month. It's the one with the unused pedestrian bridge. It's a little higher since it's actual port parking, but it's worth it to me to be able to just walk across the street and not have to wait forever for a shuttle to fill up.
  3. I had one that chewed through appliance cords (lamps, alarm clocks, etc.). I bought some electrical tape and spliced the cord pieces back together so that I could still use the appliances, then used clear packing tape to attach the entire length of the cords directly to the wall so the cat couldn't get them in his mouth. He also chewed halfway through one of the wooden slats under our bed. I saw the sawdust and thought it was pine litter residue - nope, he was chewing through the board. He was crazy.
  4. Yes! Andrew was fascinated with it. We must have spent an hour there while he experienced it, and he didnโ€™t want to leave when in was time to move on. Weโ€™ve also done the CN Tower in Toronto and the Columbia Icefield Skywalk near Jasper, AB.
  5. Planning to book Regal Princess soon for next year as soon as I get the dates/school schedule worked out. Looking forward to this!
  6. So exciting!! The 7th grader stayed up wayyy past his bedtime to witness this historical moment and all of the hoopla afterward. While we weren't able to swing attending WS game, he did get to see this team play a couple of weeks ago in one of the ALCS games. At the end of last year, he insisted they were going to the WS, back when they were terrible and their manager had just been fired. Of course, I laughed. I should have believed him.
  7. Andrew's final football game was last Friday. His season was not what he had hoped since he spent a month with his arm in a cast and didn't get to practice or play much during that time. But he still enjoyed the experience and is looking forward to next year. Basketball tryouts were last week, and on Friday Andrew was notified that he made the team. They only took about half of the boys who tried out, so he didn't know what to expect. Basketball is his favorite sport to play, and he's had the most experience playing throughout the years. This will be his first time on his school team, though (athletics starts in 7th grade). Here's his football portrait. He looks so different; I can't get over how much older he looks overnight.
  8. I don't get it, either. There are too many hailstorms here in TX to park outside. We have to precisely park both cars in exactly the right spots in order for them to fit in our barely 2-car garage, but we manage. Now, when Andrew starts driving in a couple of years and we have to add a 3rd car (he will get Brian's old CR-V and Brian will get a newer one), then he will have to park on the street. On the other hand, we have a storage shed in our yard and we pay for a small indoor storage unit elsewhere since we have no basement and our cars take up our garage space. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  9. I really enjoyed your fun and entertaining review! Thanks for taking the time to post it. We were on Adventure last Thanksgiving and were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed it. So glad you had a great time. Hope you have an easy recovery after your surgery this week!
  10. We always look forward to seeing Big Sam. Brian's parents live fairly near him, so when we are going to visit them, we know we are almost there.
  11. I still don't understand why they can't go back to the old pre-Covid way. It worked so much better. On our last cruise (Allure), on formal night we waited in line for an hour, only to finally get to the host stand and be told that the dining room area for MTD was completely full and they wouldn't be seating anyone else for the next hour. The host then told everyone still in line that we should all just leave and go to WJ. That was a new one. We protested (nicely) and somehow they found a table for us. But it shouldn't come to "special treatment" or feeling like they are doing you a favor just to get a seat.
  12. There is some crazy artwork on that ship. Maybe one of you will run across the creepy ventriloquist doll. We managed to avoid it on our sailing.
  13. So is it really true that a bad day on a cruise is still better than being at work back home?
  14. Was that a dream, or did it really happen?? ๐Ÿ˜ณ
