  1. First and foremost i do not agree with the vague nature of the distribution of the money, just me, but i want to know where it is going. Respectfully, i am really not concerned about the dishwasher, the laundry staff, or the other non descript "behind the scenes" personnel. In my opinion, the are not tipped positions, and my cruise fare covers their guaranteed salary; the service they provide is "included"
  2. It is absolutely positively 100% always appropriate to say what you would do, it’s only inappropriate when you expect others to do what you do regardless of their opinions
  3. Not the same, taxes and port fees are compulsory and can not be removed. Gratuities are not compulsory and can be removed.
  4. All cruise lines pay their crew the same way, it is regulated by international convention. There is a guarantee minimum that must be paid per month, regardless of gratuity or service charges. The current minimum is $1200 USD per month, which is very suitable considering the economic climate most of the workers come from.
  5. This is not a solution to staffing issues. If it were mandatory maybe, but it isn’t. In reality, I haven’t experienced much of a staff shortage my last several cruises.
  6. Wait, for ever and ever I have been told on this board that the Stewards only make a couple dollars a day, that’s not much of a savings.
  7. Not a problem for those of us that do not participate in auto gratuity
  8. They aren’t charging for the tiny lobster tails; they have switched to a larger, higher quality cold water lobster. The trade off in higher quality makes the fee reasonable.
  9. It can be a little more time consuming without the passport. What I meant to convey was, if your sons passport arrives in time, just take it with you, no need to change the online check in documents.
  10. Check in and use birth certificate an ID for your son. Absolutely, no reason to go back in and change it online. Just present his passport when you check in at the pier.
  11. Are you using a travel agent? If so, you could have your agent contact Royal and make a request on your behalf. One time a couple of years ago I was contacted by Royal asking me if I would mind moving my room a few spots to accommodate a large family group. This alleviates, the issue of the onboard transition, and all the errors that could happen with that, as well as an awkward moment between you and the current occupants of the cabin.
  12. Removing the extra guests from the presidential suite would not accomplish your expected result. If some early, the entire party would be removed from the room, if some late, the cruise line gets the fare for 5 and they are fine with that.
  13. The purpose of the post was to tip to ensure to just one punch per drink. If they have ready punched your card twice, then tipping after that won’t get that one punch back. makes perfect sense
  14. Yes, that photo is from "Hooked" and not the MDR. It was listed on the menu as a 4oz warm water lobster (same as traditionally offered in MDR on lobster night) This picture is NOT of a cold water Maine lobster tail form the MDR.
  15. Classics were not gotten rid of, they are rotated. What photo are you talking about? I have not seen a photo posted. In this thread of the Coldwater lobster being served on Symphony.
  16. Old news, the coffee card issue has been talked to death nearly as much as chair hogs and daily gratuity.
  17. They don’t hold back any times, MTD has been slowly getting pushed back. 645-700 is not uncommon to see as the earliest available time.
  18. I know, I think everyone knows. I was responding to someone that wondered how they got a vape pen on the ship.
  19. Vape pens are legal on the ship, cannabis oil carts and nicotine carts look identical
