  1. Not living my life as “sky is falling”, you don’t know me, but I have lived my life right in the middle of this mess. That said, this is not a “fine print” issue; this is buying a fare with no guarantee of boarding; I just don’t think that’s good customer service, but hey, you do you. I hope you get on a cruise soon, I’d like to buy you a drink.
  2. Read the policy. It states right there, you are not guaranteed to be able to board the ship. If Royal sells you a fare, you know you will be able to embark.
  3. Agree completely; it won’t be happening anytime soon that’s for sure. After the Galveston stint, she goes to PC for short 3/4 day runs, no time in the schedule for a project that size.
  4. Carnival’s change in Vax policy is just window dressing and is, potentially, putting their customers in a very precarious situation
  5. Allure has not been amped, and that is perfectly fine with me.
  6. Florida embarkations are not included in the “select sailings”
  7. Royal does NOT call it an “onboard service fee” You are right, the whole thing is “grey” there is zero transparency. Due to the fact that it is voluntary, you can decide on who gives you above and beyond service and tip appropriately.
  8. The waiter that told you his salary was $25 per week was lying to you
  9. We obviously have different definitions of the term “gratuity”
  10. Not Royal directly, but quite possible the insurance companies granting them liability coverage that Royal requires.
  11. Are you saying there should be an extra fee for laundry services on the ship? That clean linens aren’t included in the base fare?
  12. If I have no personal interaction with someone, I have no need to tip them. dishwashers and laundry personnel services are the bare minimum services in my cruise fare. There is nothing “extra” there to be rewarded.
  13. San Pedro / Los Angeles has indeed changed, just like Galveston and New Orleans.
  14. Always have, and before the discussion turns to "un-vaxed can stay on board like they do in Cayman"; the Bahamian policy states that this is not an option, and they will disallow then entire ship from docking.
  15. That is not what their most up to date Ministry of Tourism web site states (specific to cruise ship visitors) https://www.bahamas.com/travelupdates
  16. If you are wanting to use a multi national corporation as your agent, then yes, the insurance and liabilities are quite different than operating as your own "owner operator"
  17. Royal and Celebrity have had some minor and some major differences in policies throughout the pandemic.
  18. This is full of inaccuracies. For one, sailings of 6 days or more, embarking from North America, all require testing. This post seems to exclude Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Galveston. It appears that testing and vaccination protocols have been mixed up here.
