Picture-A-Week 2022 - Week 47 & 48 (Dave on holiday?)
pengu1n replied to pierces's topic in Photo & Camera Discussions
Wow, that's beautiful! -
Maybe. I poured one that had too much carbonation, and not enough syrup, dumped it out, picked a different flavor, which also tasted bad, dumped it out, and it would not give me a 3rd drink - said something like I had to wait, too soon for another.

Bus will miss ship departure in Costa Rica tonight!
pengu1n replied to oakridger's topic in Holland America Line
Wow, that sounds like a nightmare to get straightened out! I guess it's a good ad for taking a ship-sponsored tour though, how much worse people on their own! -
Thank goodness I'll be off by Nov 12 - as I'll be hogging them until then! (Course, I'll be there with my stuff, and I might be somewhat difficult to toss over board!)
-
Also, you don't have to get off when they call your tag color/number. It's the first time you can. At some point, they will clear everyone off the ship, maybe you could get that time from people who were recently on the same cruise.
-
On the Glory, they set the tags out and you took the ones you wanted. It seemed that most people wanted to get off as early as possible. So there were plenty of the last tags.
-
From what I remember from the Glory, the light was probably not bright enough to read by.

Well, you didn't really have to become a paid aarp member - you can buy them just for signing up as a rewards member - no charge.

Probably too soon. I tried for our cruise at the end of October about 2 weeks ago and it told it was too soon. But yesterday, it let me get started but I can't really do anything until 30 days out.

For our HAL cruise, turned in on Sunday at 7pm, received credit Monday at 2:30pm. We were amazed!

Itinerary Change on Navigator but HAL says no
pengu1n replied to OC PAT's topic in Holland America Line
When we had a change in departure time and a port change for our October 29 cruise, as soon as we got notice, it was changed on HAL's website, other online TAs, and the updated itinerary we received from our TA. Also, people on my roll calls received the same information at virtually the same time. I did not check the Navigator app. Have you checked with others on your roll call? -
Thank you, that is what I'll do.

Yes, but the ones I want to play do. I don't think they use much, they don't have big videos, but if our wifi is out, I get the message "internet connection required."
-
Which internet package do you need to play games on an ipad?

If I purchase the "Unlimited Coca Cola Package" on the Nieuw Statendam, that includes "unlimited refills of fountain soda" can I get Coke Zero? Is Coke Zero in the fountain or am I limited to Diet Coke?

We too will be cruising on election day, but in Missouri, we can vote up to 6 weeks prior to election day.

Would a 15-year-old enjoy a HAL holiday cruise to the Caribbean?
pengu1n replied to Sigyn's topic in Holland America Line
If you travel during school breaks and 7 day cruises there should be others in his age range. -
What is your solution to overpacking?
pengu1n replied to spleenstomper's topic in Holland America Line
I feel your pain! I too have the over-packer syndrome. For the boots, which feels better for walking around in? You'll more likely be walking in them than being rained on. I've also used waterproofing spray on leather sneakers. We've been several times to Alaska. Got poured on during a dog sled ride. Next times, we brought the rubber rain suits. We've not had to use them. It's hit or miss. Maybe an umbrella would do? (Not for the dog sled ride though!) Take half the regular clothes & do laundry once. No one will notice if you wear the same thing every day. I've bought that same jacket in Ketchikan mentioned above. Love it - fleece lined and waterproof outer layer. I do wear the hat and gloves during the glacier viewing: as a photographer, I have gloves that let my fingers out to operate the camera. -
Embarkation Question - Boarding Groups
pengu1n replied to Herschel Dirtwater's topic in Holland America Line
So, what does determine embarkation time? -
Here's a photo of the map on the island. There's a bad shadow on it, so I don't know if you can read it.

The Missouri Conservation Department plants fields of sunflowers. It becomes a popular place to take photos!
