  1. Greg, this is exactly the right place to "review" 😉. We're ALL rooting for you. Wishing you pain free days ASAP 🤞.
  2. @HBE4 Funny you should say that ... After posting the good wishes to Greg, I've got a call from DS1, asking how are we doing (we both had missile alerts during the day...). While replying, another alert was sound, first at my son's, so he left me to run to the shelter, and then also in our city. For @helen haywood, DS1 just sent me a pic of their improvised shelter under their building with the sac sands... and for aussie @aussielozzie18 a pic of a missile launched towards Tel Aviv in the sky, and an Iron Dome rocket "following" it (the 2 lights) and then -- the moment of successful interception and.... BOOM !!! 1f04555b-6500-48e5-958b-dad1ff996392.MP4
  3. We cruise for the itinerary. We also like cabins near the elevators, and enjoyed very much our infinite verandas (Beyond #12220, Edge #12196). It was so nice seating in the bed and seeing the sea "go by". Same with Reflection (#1132), we didn't find it crowded, and the itinerary - Iceland out of Dublin - was top notch. Do not fancy walking the long corridors, and aim mainly being near the aft elevators.
  4. @NHProud Judy, luckily, just 4 minor injuries. Iron Dome is doing a good job, but it is not full proof. When many rockets are launched at the same time, one or two might not be intercepted... The flat which took the direct hit was empty. @helen haywood Marian, Yes, he's leaving his apt. every time the alarm is sound. His rented apt. is at street level, and he goes down to -1, which, basically is the foundation pillars. Other renters and he filled the gaps between the pillars with sand sacks... Those living in the upper floors are exiting their apts and stay on the stairs, since they'll not have enough time to arrive at -1. No elevator in this very old building. Hope my explanation makes sense... Combat soldiers and reservists in active duty carry guns. Policemen. Civilians -- not so much. You need a license, no previous "close encounters" with the law, and a valid reason for asking to carry. It takes between 3 and 6 months, and thorough checks are carried out.
  5. + 1 , Greg @Sea Dog , Deb @Momof3gurlz, Jen @jmh2006 & Larry @Husky1987 Glad you got to meet up with Francis too @mo&fran
  6. Thanks, Andrew. Living in uncertainty. Biggest failure ever of our army and famous intelligence services. Not even a grain of faith in our PM and his unfit ministers that he has our country and my fellow citizens in his best interests 😢 Back to Sea Dog's & Co cruise, that's what keeps me going.
  7. We very much wanted to visit Mdina & Mosta before Valletta. After doing my "homework", I've found out that right where you disembark, there is a regulated company, where you can hourly "hire" a car starting at 2 hours minimum. We paid (last June) 55 Euro for 2 hours at the kiosk, and were issued a voucher and given the car's number. The driver took us to Mdina, we spent almost an hour taking pictures, then had a short stop at Mosta, and back to Valletta. The driver waited for us. We very much enjoyed this "set up" and the visit to those 2 amazing places. It was very hot and we felt that we got our value for money.
  8. This. As low level as you can get https://www.geirangerfjord.no/panoramic-bus-geiranger-2
  9. Couldn't agree more. Less than 2 months ago I was on Edge, and by chance met a friend of mine, who had lots of NR OBC to spend... Somehow she decided that I have good taste, and asked me to accompany her to the shop, where she had her eye on a Coach bag. It was marked at 490$, but the seller said that "just today" they have a "sale" and my friend can have it at 435$. It really was a very nice bag and my friend, though still hesitant, bought it... Two weeks after the cruise I saw this bag at 395$, without any sale 😉
  10. Thank you, aussie, for all those beautiful pictures, and for bringing back memories which seem from another life, with the museum on the left, which we visited.... This "lap swimmer" is sadly "beached" from the beginning of the war, since the swimming pool doesn't have a shelter...
  11. Living in Israel, I feel for you. BUT, for future reference, I'm always purchasing travel insurance the moment I'm booking an expensive vacation. YES, they bill you right away, but, considering the cost of a cruise + flight from Israel to Texas, that's peanuts. Worth it for the peace of mind. In years and years of travel, I was lucky to never need the insurance. Until last March, when DH had to go to ER, 3 hours before the flight to a much awaited and expensive trip to Morocco. All expenses, including the cost of the Moroccan visa, were reimbursed, minus 50$. That's all. Regarding your flight -- If you're flying El Al, they're very accommodating. If you're flying with any other company, since they've all cancelled their flights to Israel, I know for a fact that they're reimbursing the cost, with some companies even adding 20% as a compensation for the inconvenience caused. Your best bet will be to change sail date, and "eat" part of the cost. Good luck.
  12. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Too many to thank individually, and I'm grateful for this. I'm glued to the TV, since it shows in real time where are the places under missile attack. Our son is in Tel Aviv, which is more targeted than our city. He's renting a flat in a very old building, which doesn't have a proper shelter. We're getting alerts only according to our place of living. Beside, I'm busy, along with many friends, with coordinating donations of clothes and money for those who lost everything. It is amazing to see people volunteering to baby-sit the refugee's kids, to play with them, to try and find their pets who somehow survived and reunite them with their owners. You should see the happiness of both parts when reunited. Many cats and dogs were slaughtered / burned along with the whole family. Yes, dogs were also shot without mercy, just because.... Yesterday we had a special visit from President Biden. He promised that this time, we'll not be alone. Again, from Israel's point of view, he's a "mensch" [A mensch, in Yiddish, is a person of integrity, morality, dignity, with a sense of what is right and responsible. But mensch is more than just an old Yiddish adage. It is relevant now, across the world, more than ever… “To be a mensch is to be supportive. To be a friend, to be calm in troubled times".] President Biden not only met politicians. He met with family members of those who were hijacked to Gaza, paramedics who saved countless of lives under fire, a ZAKA guy [who has the grim task of honoring the bodies] and a very resourcefulness old lady, who found herself, along with her husband, with a house full of terrorists, and in order to gain time until set free of them, offered them cookies and coffee... Thank you, Mr. President.
  13. Thank you, Marian. Physically -- still safe. The soul -- not so much. Every day another atrocity is discovered, and the realization that we're not dealing with human beings is, sadly, very eye opening.
  14. USA has arranged for at least 5 special flights for their citizens. The "catch" is that all those flights are to Europe and not to US. USA has a dedicated desk at Tel Aviv's airport, helping all US citizens who want to leave. On top of that, whoever lives in the north could board the Rhapsody and be shipped to Cyprus, and from there -- "the sky is the limit". My understanding is that some of those boarding Rhapsody are only interested in a short/long respite from the "situation".
  15. Oh, Mark, not again. Enough is enough. I hope there is a mistake. DH had his scheduled colonoscopy 2 days ago, and while waiting in the recovery room, I heard a doctor reassuring an elderly woman that she has no colon cancer. The woman asked exactly the same question -- "can you tell by looking" and she said: "yes". Hopefully, Susan's case will be different 🤞
  16. Thank you, Deb. And let's make it a HUGE COMFORT -- I'm grateful for every one of the well wishes, thoughts and prayers. Trying to find the right words, the "essence" being -- I wish I could be back, being a regular poster, writing and being read, about routine cruising, other trips, kids, grandkids, anniversaries, weddings and birthdays, with minor health issues [teeth, jaws?] thrown in...
