  1. Hopefully, I'll be on Beyond 2 weeks from today, and I'll write a review of our IV cabin 😁
  2. The OP stated that's their 1st time on X, so no upgrade for them.
  3. Exactly. The wall on this side makes all the difference. We stayed in 8594. Best location ever. No noise, and almost no traffic either, since only those "living" on the hump used this corridor. I would never book the cabins on the port side, since they're indeed very noisy.
  4. The celebrated b'day person wears a crown of flowers. My DIL, who is very cost conscious (for which I thoroughly admire her and appreciate) bought one with artificial flowers, which can be adapted in size. The tradition is that they get 3 b'day celebrations -- one within the family, one at the kindergarten [which is held once a month -- all born in May together], and one -- at a venue [or if you have a big house or/and don't mind the ensuing mess] with all the kids from the kindergarten. Another tradition, which I don't know if it is "used" in the US, is to raise them sitting on a chair the number of years + 1 [so the guy with the fruit t-shirt πŸ€ͺ was raised 5 times]. You're not alone... First, he was a flight attendant, saying that his "way of life" doesn't allow him to maintain a meaningful relationship. After 10 years, he was laid off when Covid struck, and then... well... with Covid around.... it is difficult to date... beside, he's busy surfing ☹️
  5. @molly361 Same here, Ellen. Hope you'll make a full recovery. So many cruises out there waiting for you 😘 @A&L_Ont Your steaks are mouth watering... I remember you've stocked on "Omaha steaks". Are those the ones? @Sea Dog Greg, how would you "rate" your knee op in terms of improvement of your quality of life? And, we miss some pictures of your lovely pups 😘 @Sunshine3601 Debbie, I've posted a reply to Judy @NHProud Wednesday, and it was "approved" today... now buried many many pages "ago".... @Luckynana Usually, the base of cheese cakes is some crushed cookies or biscuits + melted butter. The "sable" base is much more "sophisticated", and, in hindsight, not really worth the extra work and bother... Nevertheless, the cake was simply amazing -- very fluffy, which is a first for a cheese cake. Glad that I cut on the amount of sugar suggested. Well, let me brag that I've turned into an experienced baker πŸ˜‰ Sable dough is a versatile pastry staple. Shorter (crumbly) and richer than regular pie crust (thanks, eggs), sable makes a sturdy and tasty shell for tarts and also makes excellent shortbread-type cookies.
  6. Now that you mention it....... [I'm dying to taste it -- the top is "sable" dough, have to wait until tomorrow ☹️]
  7. Happy 5th graduation to your son, Bethany 🌷. @Luckynana And Maryann, Happy 15th Birthday to your grandson Jack πŸ’.
  8. Thank you. I went to weight and measure myself 😁 - 4'9" - 114 lbs. DH - 5'6" -- 172 lbs πŸ˜‰
  9. 15.... It's really getting closer, and with yesterday's baking, today - visit to our single boy (details below) and the birthday celebration tomorrow, we'll get to the less than 2 weeks margin πŸ˜‰ So, our single son is renting an 1 bedroom flat in a very old building in Tel-Aviv (circa 1950). DH helped painting, repairing and updating the characterless space as much as possible. Lately, the "kid" asked for a reading lamp, handmade of course by dad. This morning we travelled to Tel-Aviv and were very lucky to find a parking spot quite near the flat (being such an old neighborhood, all the buildings have no in site parking). Here's the reading lamp, freshly installed -- A corner picture and a piece of furniture made from their old childhood one....
  10. Odd indeed. Not only that, but my reply to @NHProud was also locked down... First time it happened to me since I've joined CC ☹️ On a happier note, we have a Jewish holiday approaching, where the tradition is to eat lots of cheese.... Since our inlaws will be abroad [they got an offer to visit Normandy which they couldn't refuse πŸ˜‰] and our "mutual" grandson was 4 years old today, we'll celebrate more than a week ahead, and I volunteered to bake.... surprise... a cheese cake. A new recipe. So today I've baked "part 1", it has to "rest" at least a day in the fridge, and Friday morning I'll do the top. Part 1 --
  11. Capt. Kate gets lots and lots of pictures, clothes, you name it for her cat [she is called "Bug Naked"]. In our "correspondence" she raved about her one and only visit to the port of Haifa, and visiting sacred places for the Christianity. She also has in prominent display a statue of St. Nicholas [patron of sailors]. That's the reason I lean towards finding something "faith-related". So glad Steve is progressing so nicely. Quality of life is so important. Every painless day counts.
  12. Thank you, sorry, I didn't explain myself. Our plan was to take the X80 from the port stop at Piraeus to Acropolis. It seems, from the above, the X80 is not working. My question is: From the port stop at Piraeus to Acropolis, no luggage, just 2 couples, a regular taxi could take us?
  13. That's weird. Absolutely no reason to divert. Is it a one off, or all the Holy Land cruises are now diverted? All I know that this Sunday there will be a very controversial parade in Jerusalem, which, sadly, last year resulted in the start of hostilities here. A small group of "our" fanatics is drowning us down. Thank you, Judy. I'm excited, mingled, of course, with worry. I'm corresponding with the captain on Whatsapp, but not expecting any meeting, though I, of course, will be more than happy to. It's up to her, and she is somewhat "all over the place"... I'm looking for something which represents Israel as a symbolic gift for her, usually I bring a small olive wood cross, but with the Christian tourism down for the last 2 years, many shops which catered for those tourists are closed....
  14. Thank you, @MJSailors. I really appreciate the kind words.🌷 .... as well as our "aussie" ( @aussielozzie18) and Canada ( @A&L_Ont, @StanleyandGus, @#55worktoplay friends 🍁), etc.
  15. Seeing that bus X80 might not be a "viable" option, could you remember if the taxis can hold 4 people + the driver? Another couple in our cruise wants to share a taxi with us to Acropolis, thank you,
