  1. Nothing wrong with comfort food. I have made mention before of a fellow diner who was so fed up of 'fine foods'. he ordered hot dog and fries with all the trimmings for dinner on a Formal night. We were salivating at the smell of the fried onions and the glorious look of the meal! Sometimes, a grilled cheese sandwich or a hot dog and fries beats out the most formal of dinners! 🙂
  2. Only visited Salisbury cathedral once, having read Edward Rutherfurd's Sarum years prior and it was a half day spent in wonder, helped by the organist having a 'bit of a practise'! I can thoroughly recommend it as a day out if docked in Southampton or spending a few days there pre/post embarkation.
  3. Pants are trousers over here. Leggings are leggings and come in a variety of styles from thin ish wear for the gym, to almost jodhpurs style so without knowing the style and what would be worn with it, I wouldn't like to say an out right 'yes I would wear that'. Language differences do make for interesting comments, as #3 proves!🙂
  4. The objective answer to wearing leggings would be 'yes' but would I wear them? I would want to know the style before giving a subjective yes. I have worn white three quarter length [gym] leggings [bought specifically for the top] under a long silk kaftan for an Indian evening onboard QV so for me, it would depend on the length and style of the top and of course, the leggings themselves.
  5. I was under the impression various crew members staffed the library rather than actual librarians. I knew more about authors than staff on a few occasions after overhearing conversations between staff and passengers.
  6. If there is a Book Club happening, look in the library or the book shop for details. That's where I have found out about any Book Club sessions.
  7. I'm not a QM2 fan [the actual ship/ daily activities and the food have been great] but I am in a very small minority so bear in mind, all opinions are subjective. Go with an open mind and enjoy.
  8. As an aside, one for the travel agents, how are customers supposed to know what fare rate they have been sold … you are informed now so in the future, ask I really am SO sorry one can't post the names of seriously excellent cruise agents here. There is NO way our agent would have missed this.
  9. Or do as we do, ask the butler or concierge to make a request if you’re not present to do it yourself.
  10. I must admit, I don't feel as if we have been taken advantage of or treated with contempt by Cunard. In fact, the opposite. T&Cs may be different between the UK and other countries but that's life, business, call it what you want. We have got some great holidays booked with a cruise line which suits us down to the ground and I for one am happy to have them in the bag.
  11. It's the same here and I am getting the impression, one or two CC Cunard members need to change their agents.
  12. Not sure how things work in the US, but over here, when flying long haul, we book a flight/hotel/cruise [ditching the hotel and booking our own] through Cunard although it's packaged together by our agent on the premise if one part of the whole is cancelled, we will be OK -think Ash Cloud, strikes, ship going into emergency dry dock etc We wait for the flight schedules to be released when we dictate the airline, date and mode of travel.
  13. It's not a case of not liking it. I have no thoughts either way. This wasn't 'Strictly' and they looked silly. it was selfish to try and take up so much space on a busy dance floor, and dangerous at times.
  14. Arm flinging [is that a technical term] on a fairly busy dance floor not only looks ridiculous when no one else is doing it, but is also selfish and dangerous, this from a lay person;s perspective.
  15. I remember commenting on the 'arm flingers' ages ago. Fellow dancers could get knocked out with the 'exuberant manoeuvres' if happened to be in arm distance!.
  16. I love a grilled cheese 'toastie' and I love tomato soup but together? Not a common combo over this side of the pond. I also LOVE peanut butter, but a jelly and peanut butter sandwich? What's that all about! 😀 Sorry Hattie! 🥴
  17. Yes. We were booked within seconds of itineraries being release.
  18. Why is that? A quick lunch in the US often has a grilled cheese 'toastie' with a bowl of tomato soup. Is it a recognised duo?
  19. I guess so except I have someone joining the scrum for me!! 😄
  20. It's not actually pre booking, it's more a case of pre registering interest. The booking is an open feast come 1pm BST.
  21. and yet in the Saturday Times colour supplement a couple of weeks ago, The Times food editor gave his version of a toastie which was sort of pan fried in a ridged griddle pan. Many versions of the same thing. 🙂
  22. Sorry, you might have us to share a ship with! 😀 We are definitely booking today.
  23. My only comment, coming from an ex Q3 passenger is, If I lean over the balcony, I can see into a couple of the Q4 balconies down the way. Whether the accessible balcony next to a Q3 and on the corner will be able to have a clear view onto balconies, I don't know but it would seem feasible.
