  1. I was told ages ago, there are certain items available in QG which aren't available as off menu allowables in PG. It makes sense as the premium paid in QG is quite considerable.
  2. QG was mentioned i the opening post, hence my replies. I can't help if it's PG.
  3. Yep Think posh crisps!🙂
  4. Unfortunately, Kettle Chips as opposed to UK chips [think fries 🙂] are one of the regular snacks provided [and replenished when necessary] on a daily basis each morning in our cabin. I have yet to have the backbone to say 'NO, Take Them Away'! 😕
  5. We are usually asked every day if we want to order anything, possibly because we're known for going off menu but if no one asks you that particular day, be proactive and ask. It's expected at any time and you will not be putting anyone out. My lunch order for instance varies from sushi to a salad of my own fixings; caprese [large plate] or carpaccio [beef or tuna] etc etc. 🙂
  6. Have to disagree. Skinny or chunky, they're a real treat. Fillet mignon, sauce on the side, plus fries and a great side salad to my specification is my go to when I want something simple. Just order at lunch time. Peking Duck requires ordering three days in advance and some dishes I'd order the night before but most requests can be facilitated by a lunchtime order for that evening's dinner. Many of the pasta dishes are table-side finished and it's all done with a bit of a show/panache by either your Head Waiter or the Maitre'd. If anything from the pop ups in the Lido catch your eye, then put your order in for dinner one evening in QG. If Bamboo is scheduled, I always ask for the Mandarin Crispy Chilli Beef one night.
  7. Freudian slip, obviously. Not had chips for yonks. Brain must be telling me chips are required! 😄
  8. Joe33472 order what you like. If the ingredients are on the chip [and the chef knows the recipe ] then you can order it.,
  9. I have very basic tastes in many things but I have yet to get down to tasting cat pee in the wine I drink. I'll just have to keep quaffing until the pee hits me. 😄 Can I just edit this by adding I haven't actually tasted cat's pee so am not well versed in cat's pee tasting notes but I'm sure I'll know if I ever do come across that added flavour. 😁
  10. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Oyster Bay preferably, but happy with Brandcott, and Dog Point if it's reasonable 'ish.
  11. Meanwhile, on the other side of the coin, Tesco has some cracking offers on some less expensive and very quaffable wines. Our fav. house white, worked out at around £6.30 a bottle which contrasts very favourably with its usual £10. I bought a couple of dozen, which should see us for a week or two!👍
  12. Always worth asking if there's anything you'd like which doesn't feature. I rather like the soft cheeses but they have to be aged properly. Not so that a nose peg is required as the cheese is running off the trolley but equally, not so firm, a carving knife would do the trick. I'm picky and there's usually something for me. 👍
  13. Can't think of many blogs better than this one http://butarewethereyet.blogspot.com/ Maybe Roscoe could add the appropriate links to his S.A adventures.
  14. In answer to tender frequency, if they are used, it's a continuous back and forth with rarely a wait of more than a few mins, depending on number of passengers queued up to get back to the ship.
  15. Olden, when not alongside for the day, we docked to allow passengers off, then moved to anchor as another ship moored up. Tenders were used and then we moved in for passengers to walk onto the ship. Perfect scenario when more than one ship is there.
  16. Just checked and yes, it was def, 'the' wedding. Quite a few of us watched it for hours and I seem to remember quite a lot of alcohol was consumed during the day. Most convivial and very enjoyable ! 🍷
  17. We were onboard QV for [I think] Harry's wedding. Whatever the Royal occasion, it was screened in the theatre and the Grills lounge and we had a Gala dinner with a specially produced souvenir menu [which I threw away and thus can't totally be 100% sure of the occasion] and a complimentary glass of something bubbly with dinner. Also, docking in the Seychelles and again, I can't remember the occasion but there was a beautiful faux cake celebrating the Queen on the quayside in 'our' honour and again, a bit of a do onboard so quite frankly, I can't imaging a once, for many, in a lifetime Royal occasion, namely the coronation of a British monarch going uncelebrated in quite a big, but Cunard'ishly dignified, way.
  18. I think we've tendered once in Flamm, the rest of our visits have been docked. A floating boardwalk would be such fun instead of tendering. This is assuming Cunard ships will be able to access the Sognefjord and then Aurlandsfjord.
  19. If offered, no question about it, Bamboo would be our choice.
  20. We bought one 'economy' package on the first sea day [saved around $15 as opposed to buying on embarkation] and used it for our two iPads.
  21. Q5 to Q2, I assure you in our experience, you there is no difference in level of service whatsoever. None. I will let you know if our path is strewn with rose petals and our bath filled with goat milk every evening after our first Q1 coming up soon. 🙂
  22. I for one have never joined in Cunard the line, as a luxury product debate as I only have around fourteen days experience of non QG so do not have enough experience to make a definitive comment but may I just add, I have no problem with QE/QV service outside on decks eleven and twelve so I must have a 'please look after me' sign on my person 😄, because the staff do.
  23. Well I guess if a sweeping statement is made and another can find a point to challenge in that statement as I did with regards to Cunard service not matching up to luxury hotels, then I suppose one can only say, you opened up that line of direction!! 🙂
