  1. The three hour minimum is for taxi tours. The hourly rate is for tours. You can take a metered by distance taxi to Sea Glass and back. You will stay on the meter and there will some wait time on the meter.
  2. I avoid Don and also videos with bait titles. There are a few that watch all the time like Gary B.
  3. You can pick the taxi and you should pick. That is what I did when I took a taxi tour. There were three or four drivers and I picked one who who impressed me the most. Totally subjective. It is also possible to prearrange but unfortunately I don't have any current drivers to recommend as covid made that info dated. Possibly someone else does. You can also tell the driver things you would like to see.
  4. It is first come first served. They do have a maximum. That is why they have registration. But registering is not required. Registration secures a spot in the event the maximum is reached.
  5. There is a parking area off the docks that is designated for offering island taxi tours, island minibus tours and the minibus shuttles to Horseshoe. It has signs. The regular taxi line off the ship the drivers may be or may not have “blue flag” taxis. It is mainly for people going to a specific destination. The so called “blue flag drivers” have an ID. The rate for taxi tours is regulated. It is $50 an hour for the taxi if you have 1-4 passengers or $70 an hour if you have 5-7 passengers. There is a three hour minimum.
  6. If he has travel insurance repatriation of the remains is probaly covered. Call the insurance conpany. If you are a US citizen you might call your congressmans office. I have found the staff there to often be helpful in dealing with issues like you describe.
  7. That has nothing to do with required travel documents. https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-74?language=en_US
  8. You don’t need a passport to visit Victoria if you are on a closed loop cruise out of a US port. You are misinformed. The other misinformation you posted is that you need the arrive can app. The app is not required for a cruise. It is recommended if flying into Canada but optional for flying into Canada.
  9. This thread is not about what you need if you enter Canada by air.
  10. The specific country that might require a passport is Columbia. Columbia may also require 6 months left. Also vaccination and covid test.
  11. When is your cruise? @latebloomer56 is going to be cruising to Bermuda in late April and has mentioned going to Snorkel Park with sons. That might be when we could get up to date information.
  12. The sign from last year says daily entrance pass and daily lounge rental. And they call it a club. To me that would mean you can come and go but honestly that is my interpretation. That may not be what they mean. Also that was last season. That was their first season managing it. I would not assume that they will be doing the same thing this season. There were a bunch of reviews last year on TripAdvisor that the cynic in me would call phony because they all mention one person. If you do go take water shoes. It is rocky and there has also been broken glass issues on the beach in the past. The location is convenient to the ship but to me it is a dump, looked dumpy, and it actually used to be a dump. But if they have really spruced it up that would be good. No way though would I pay their fees when I could go to one of the worlds most beautiful natural beaches, Horseshoe Bay.
  13. You will be able to drive into Canada with your EDL but as the cruise is not a closed loop out of the US I believe you would need a passport book for the cruise. A cruise out of Vancouver, Canada has different rules.
  14. Here is the link to the tour if you want to sign up. It is first come first serve but if you sign up you can secure a spot. https://www.cityofhamilton.bm/explore_the_city/town_crier_tours.php
  15. "In addition to the May 18 launch, Destination Dockyard events will be held on June 15 and July 20 with the “big bang finale” to take place on August 24." https://www.royalgazette.com/tourism/news/article/20230327/monthly-destination-dockyard-event-to-return/
  16. Calico Jack's floating bar at the Dockyard has been closed a few years. Located on the dock, popular among some cruise passengers. The pirate bar is planning to reopen on May 1. I found that info buried in an article in the Royal Gazette. https://www.royalgazette.com/local-business/business/article/20230327/wedco-expects-cruise-numbers-to-bounce-back/
  17. Visits to bounce back after winter storm cancellations. Update on Dockyard businesses. Calico Jacks floating bar to reopen May 1 ! https://www.royalgazette.com/local-business/business/article/20230327/wedco-expects-cruise-numbers-to-bounce-back/
  18. Americans can drive into Canada without a passport book. We can drive across with an EDL, Nexus. or a passport card. Sorry that we have different rules but it is what it is.......
  19. html https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew.html In addition to what Torfamm said about online renewal being paused. You can’t still use your old password. It says the following on the website. “You are aware that your most recent passport will be immediately canceled when you submit your application and you cannot use it for international travel.” So you can’t use your old passport.
  20. The last time I renewed my passport in 2016 I had so much travel booked that year that I did have huge headache. I ended up getting it renewed five months before expiration. I had a window right after a Caribbean cruise. Since it was Caribbean I only needed a valid passport so five months worked fine. My renewal that time only took three weeks so it all worked out for my following travel. The current renewal times are outragous where people have been reporting seven or eight weeks or more. So with a lot of travel plans and long renewal times it is not so easy peasy. Long renewal times were excusable in 2020 but not now. Possibly though the back up is because its like a dam breaking and masses have suddenly decided to travel again.
  21. I checked Oli’s website and they do have tours in May. Their tours don’t start including Cadillac Mountain until May 11 because the road up is closed until May 11 for construction. So the ship tours won’t be going up to Cadillac until then either.
  22. Wrong. A passport is not required of US citizens to enter Canada on a closed loop cruise from the US.
  23. Teamsters are a union that originaly represented horse team drivers. Thus the name. They morphed with the new horseless tech into the truck drivers union. Now they represent some other workers too but they don't represent the porters at US cruise ports.
  24. Your link does not contradict that a birth certificate is sufficient. From the Canadian website: Identification requirements for U. S. citizens and permanent residents If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you must carry proof of citizenship such as a passport, birth certificate, a certificate of citizenship or naturalization, a U.S. Permanent Resident Card, or a Certificate of Indian Status along with photo identification. If you are a U.S. permanent resident, ensure you carry proof of your status such as a U.S. Permanent Resident Card.
  25. See the official information on what is require on closed loop cruise from the US. https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-74?language=en_US
