  1. Amtrak does not stop in Brooklyn. The closest Amtrak station is New York Penn in Manhattan.
  2. I was standing behind someone at a liquor store and a lady who was obviously drinking age was trying to use her passport as ID. The clerk would not accept it as they were required to check DL or state issued ID. She would not accept the passport. She probably would not have accepted a passport card either.
  3. I just read a positive review on social media from last week of his tour so he is definitely still working. The contact info is the same as I posted above.
  4. For Istanbul they give you a transit thru pass. You carry that and your DL. . You can’t carry your passport because the cruise line takes it and holds at embarkation and does not return it until after Turkey.
  5. There will be a lot of cruise passengers at the Dockyard and at popular attractions amd beaches. You will have to rent 3 Twizy's if you have six. What are .your ages? With six you should consider taking taxis. A taxi can take 6 in one car.
  6. You only need cash for taxis (a few do take CC but many don't) , the buses or ferries. They take USD. I can't recall ever needing cash at any shop or restaurant the past 20 years.
  7. I never have needed to carry my drivers license as ID anywheres except when I am driving or buying alcohol. Or on a cruise. Yep, even though a senior I have to show my license when buying wine at Target. At the pharmacy to pick up a prescription they ask me my birthdate. I don’t have a passport card. It is worthless for any travel I do. I am not OCD enough to need a backup ID. So on a cruise I do take my ID ashore as ID. However next time I renew my book I will probably get one as backup ID because it is cheap.
  8. I am following the checklist on the US State Department website https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/travelers-checklist.html#:~:text=Make two copies of all,it separate from your money. Safeguard Your Documents! Make two copies of all your travel documents in case of emergency. Leave one copy with a trusted friend or relative at home and carry the other separately from your original documents. To help prevent theft, do not carry your passport in your back pocket, and keep it separate from your money.
  9. A copy will be useful for obtaining an emergency passport.
  10. They can now kick the Diamonds out and make it Diamond Plus and above. Kind of hard to kick Diamonds out if it is called Diamond Lounge.
  11. It is simple math that as the ships have gotten larger and larger over the years that the C&A membership would grow. There will have to be changes either making it more difficult and/or less benefits.
  12. Passenger on Carnival Magic crashed a rental cycle. Not a good idea to rent cycles in Bermuda. Many roads are not in best of condition and winding with no shoulders. Even with no traffic it is dangerous. https://www.royalgazette.com/drive-for-change/news/article/20230929/tourist-suffers-serious-injuries-in-road-traffic-accident/
  13. Certainly that was a typo by that poster. PIA is a well known VPN and PIA stands for Private Internet Access not Public. I used to use PIA until about a year ago when I switched to Nord VPN. I switched for subjective reasons. PIA was acquired by a company, Kape, that has a shady reputation. The same company, Kape, acquired Express VPN about a year earlier. They have bought a number of VPNs.
  14. If you can’t log on with your VPN on then turn it off. Log on with VPN off and then connect to the VPN. Should work.
  15. When we really want one, DH goes up by 7 am and I join him shortly after. That's usually on a day we have nothing else planned except to relax and read. We then grab breakfast in the WJ and bring it back to our seat. We'll do the same for lunch and usually leave by 2 or so. We do something similar. In our case we get up at 7 and get a couple of loungers then one of us goes to the buffet but the other remains until they come back then the other takes their turn at the buffet. We don’t bring the food back. Same for lunch. Starting later it is almost impossible to get loungers in the Solarium.
  16. The Safeway in my old neighborhood had a vending machine that we discovered could clone our Condo key cards and fobs.
  17. This article is based on the Blog which bases the idea on an interpretation of an answer to a question about the loyalty programs on the Celebrity webinar. Neither the Blog or author of the article have any facts or other sources. When I heard the Celebrity reps answer I took her answer to be generic. Always looking to enhance customer experience type answer. Since the questions picked were obviously cherry picked maybe the answer means something but then again maybe not.
  18. Royal can make any change it desires including if they want to allowing all children in the space. I don’t see any dilemmas. As for the recent age change I am agnostic. I didn’t see any major issue with 16. I don’t think that 18 will be a major issue. As long as they maintain an adult space it will be good.
  19. No doubt some consultants sold Celebrity and other cruise lines on the concept and also as a way to increase revenue. Outside cabins become Verandas…..$$$
  20. I noticed you tend to take language literally but the Solarium on Royal Caribbean has always been a no child space since my first RC cruise in 1995. A peaceful, quiet area for relaxing and no children. Where the hot tubs at the main pools would be filled with little ones and pretty unusable the hot tubs in the Solarium were usable. The dictionary definition of Solarium does not change what the Solarium has been historically defined as on RC and how it has been used on Royal Caribbean. So in Black and White the Solarium on Royal is how Royal had defined it not some dictionary.
  21. That seems likely what will happen. They might make some minor changes like the 3 drinks on Celebrity will be all day and every day. Probably reciprocity with Silversea will be added. Points won’t be combined.
  22. That is what it always suggested to me. And they always had an age limit. None of the pool activities like bands or pool games.
  23. It is on the R____C___ Blog. It is based on making a leap from an answer to a question asked at yesterday's Celebrity webinar.
  24. WhatsApp and iMessage use the same TCP ports. 80, 443 and 5223. Princess would have to block WhatsApp and iMessage traffic from using those ports without a package. Royal Caribbean/Celebrity managed to block WhatsApp and IMessages without a package. They used to work on RC without a package but now they don’t. They do work with a package. Princess and NCL could configure their routers to block them too without a package but they would have to configure to distinguish between having a package or not. They would not want to block them entirely as passengers and crew would want to use iMessage and WhatsApp. So they can block WhatsApp and iMessage from connecting from using those ports without a package but continue to work with a package but it would take work so possibly it is a priority to block them.
  25. If your 16 year old is a quiet reader they probably they won't be noticed. I have seen young people who were noticible because they were spashing around in the pool or hot tub. One family brought thier kids once who were obviously under 16 and they acted like most kids would diving in and being kids. They were asked to leave and the family was offended. We though were happy they were asked to leave.
