  1. Hey again! The website is wonky, if that is where you have been looking. Do you have a PCC or TA? That could call in to HAL and talk to Inventory? Of course I don't know what category you are interested in, but I was just logged in where I saw all categories (for the round trip) were available, except Pinnacle Suite. Including at least 7 Verandahs on the Observation Deck (where we are rooming). Then I logged out and looked again, attempting a "dummy booking", and only the two one-way cruises even showed! Then I logged in and looked again and only one (the same one) O-Deck Verandah is showing for both legs. Just a thought but you might call and ask to be assigned a Personal Cruise Consultant to do the leg-work. If you don't have a TA.
  2. Here is link to HAL's Voyage of the Vikings in 2024: https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/find-a-cruise/E4T35A/U450.html And here is the Roll Call thread if you book! https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2907653-july-20-2024-zuiderdam-35-day-voyage-of-the-vikings-boston-rt/page/6/
  3. Cruised the Panama Canal full-transit (FLL to LA) on the Norwegian Star in 2013. That was my one-and-done on NCL mentioned above! Yes, the N.Star is (or was?) an older smaller ship... but if you can't keep all of your ships nice and their crews happy, why would I want to give you a second chance? My grandfather liked to say: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
  4. Unsnap-to-flat-for-packing dresser or nightstand trays from Magellan. Mine is actually larger and came from a cosmetic company originally. https://www.magellans.com/itemdy00.aspx?T1=MLP457 We are so used to using trays that when I didn't pack them when we flew to Barcelona to get on a TAtl, we found a "dollar store" and bought some plastic ones just to use on the cruise!
  5. I don't think people forget this item; I think they just haven't considered how useful it is:

  7. You are heartless Bill! Get your cat sunglasses!!! What was the point of this thread? Prices are always what the market will stand. Bargains such as they are, will continue to be early after launching, or late if you can drop and go.
  8. And I would do it ASAP because this seems to be selling very well!
  9. That is what I would do, Cheryl, but not speaking as something I have done. Just what makes sense to me (which isn't always what actually IS). ETA: I bow to Jacqui's experience, disregard the above!
  10. OK, if I were looking to book myself or a friend, in the Verandahs I am seeing now, I would choose 6094 on the Mozart Deck. It has cabins above and below it (for quietness) and is quite close to the midship elevators. Its furniture/bathroom arrangement would be like this other K'dam cabin: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/6053-koningsdam/ If I were new to HAL, I would call and get assigned to a PCC (Personal Cruise Consultant). Unless you are working through a travel agent that is.
  11. Vicky, there are also verandahs forward and aft on Beethoven Deck 4 with super deep balconies.
  12. It's only Vista and Signature Suites that are Guarantee only right now, with Neptune Spa and Pinnacle Suites SOLD OUT. Also you got me curious so I did a faux booking for a Neptune Suite and while it let me choose my own, the choices were slim -- two aft wraps on lower decks, and on midships on Schubert. @Vicky L I happen to be keeping the Master List for that cruise! 13. Looking at Spa Verandah on Panorama Deck (10) vs Verandah on Sun Deck (11) on the K'dam, I see no differences but location. What sort of ideas are you seeking? Pics of a Spa Verandah: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/10031-koningsdam/ Also has written notes above the pics, commenting on what is included with the "Spa" vs regular cabin. Pics of Sun Deck Verandah on the sister ship Nieuw Statendam: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/11044-nieuw-statendam/
  14. If you won't try what others have found works, you can expect to keep having the same problems. Sites that work better on some particular browser is not new and is not restricted to HAL.
  15. If you stay at the Best Western Yacht Harbor, even the one night before, you get the next 7 days FREE! and subsequent days at a reasonable rate. And they have a shuttle! The port itself has no parking of its own anymore. We don't need the hotel (we drive down from Orange County, after driving there from Moab), but are still going to stay there for the parking! The next most reasonable I found is Bayfront Garage Cruise through Airport Parking Connection.com, at $15/day + $22 surcharge. And no shuttle. Last winter, we parked in the Wyndham Bayside parking lot for $25/day ($400 for the B2B) and thought ourselves lucky (it was over NYE and all of the other nearby parking had black-out for that night). It is literally across the street from the port, with a little dogleg for the crosswalk. But their rates have gone up.
  16. Glad you are booked! 4106 is two doors from "our" cabin 4100. Which means the bathroom door, the loveseat, and the head of the bed will be on the righthand side as you come in from the hall. The closets, desk, and TV will be on the left. Here is a video of your very cabin! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxz0DyJj-q4 We just loved the midship location -- reduced the number of times having to traverse the length of the ship in one go, to almost none. I think we went from the Crows Nest to Tamarind restaurant once and it did seem a LONG ways! I watched @leerathje Leanne's video of the Verandah cabin and it did seem significantly "tighter". And I think coming in to the more open area of the sofa/desk will be more convenient with the transport chair; you can park it either in front of the cabinet by the sofa (that contains the pool-towels and I forget what else), or move the coffee-table cube to there and park the chair at the wall end of the sofa. You have gotten good answers for the muster-drill. I believe our safety-meeting scan of cards was two decks down in the Ocean Bar. It's a little bit of a blur!
  17. I believe you are the TomO. that helped me so much when choosing a cabin on (I think) the Coral Princess with your database of covered balconies. I only hope to help you as much! Sorry to hear of your wife's impairment, but happy to hear you are going to cruise again. I think the Vista Suite will be a fine solution: either Aft for the views, if you can get it, or mid-ships for the convenience. PS we never did cruise on Princess, but I still remember you! Please, ask any questions about the K'dam!
  18. Hi Canary! I've been searching for my packing lists. I believe this one is the 10-kg for both roll-aboard and personal item Norwegian Air return flight cruise. Preface: I am a "big girl"/plus size/ US18 top-22 bottom. And dr'spin is no lightweight either, but favors synthetic/light shirts and trousers. We cross-pack if I didn't say that before. This is the un-cross-packed list of my garments: Burgundy Legging burgundy tank Burg.Plaid LightWt Burg.Plaid Flannel Burg Skechers Navy Pocket L'ing Navy Tee Shirt Blue-purple Tunic L.Sleeved T-shirt 4-way top Black lt wt cardie 3 Bras 2 Nightie 9 footies 8 undies WEAR Long Skirt w/Petty Pocket Tee Purp/Blk Cardie Leather Jacket Navy Belt Bag Navy Burg Cap Wrist Watch Support Stirrups Socks Blue Navy Skechers My "long skirt" was reversible, with a blue ditzy print on the travel side and black for the dressy nights (with the four-sided tank and black cardie). Skechers were flat fabric shoes, weight of <10oz. I did not list above, but could provide, the non-clothes packing (toiletries, electronics, sundries). TLDR: Two colors (mine were navy and burgundy, with some black thrown in). Three "bottoms" including the outfit I wore, but sorta four bc the skirt is reversible. Seven shirts spanning the seasons from tanktop to flannel shirt. One woolen-blend cardie suiting all. My leather jacket is a dark rose!
  19. Ya, I guess I fall in the "not comfortable with the tech". We bought the router but never could get it to function. Fortunately, my husband only needed the WiFi from his computer (or phone) in the cabin, so I could use it in the Crows Nest!
  20. It increased so drastically that I thought I had clicked HIA instead of BareBones, but NO.
  21. I have seen people report price jumps when new promotionals launch, but never experienced one. Maybe (?) this has nothing to do with the AARP kick off. Fortunately we are happily booked and don't "need" the $200 OBC.
  22. Looks like I won't be making that call. My VoV booking went up $8250 (total) since yesterday!
