  1. Just for the new HAL cruisers. The way Room Service gets to you is by volunteers from dining room stewards (maybe Lido as well). They get up early to deliver breakfasts; they get no additional allotment from the Daily Grats; they do it strictly in the hopes of additional tips. We give $1 for coffee, $2-3 for a full tray. If you want to do the same, have the dollar bills handy because they will not linger!
  2. I has a sad! I loved taking screenshots of all the ships I had sailed on and positioning them in a stack. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a "pic" of the Koningsdam to add to my smaller ships column.
  3. Henckels H3 10pc Coated Stainless Steel Cookware Set on eBay is from the same seller I got my GreenPan Greenwich. This is a great brand and says IC -- no personal recommendation (although I have their knives!), but could save you a few dollars.
  4. May I speak (off-topic) in favor of GreenPan induction-compatible pots and pans -- I lived with (also new) T-fal IC pans for several years, then got a Venice line Chef's Pan from GreenPan (on a major xmas/end-of-year sale) and a Valencia line big Saute pan (likewise). Just recently bought a full set of GreenPan Greenwich off eBay. Greenwich appears to be very similar to Venice (steel on the outside but black on the inside) that was made for JCPenneys or some chain. Those are the three 'lines' I know that are induction-compatible. They heat NOTICEABLY faster (or at a lower setting) than the T-fal pans. If you search eBay for "GreenPan Greenwich" you will see the set.
  5. The website is flaky over this weekend. Lets me get up to that point (choosing a cabin) but gives the error about Too Long an Request. There is a whole thread about it. It will probably be resolved tomorrow.
  6. If you can do it, you should take a couple pics with the sleeper made up (the stewards will put it away during the days) -- and upload them to HalFacts.com. This question comes up from time to time!
  7. Well, some of the stories I've heard, could make that a real thing!
  8. Cabin will have a two-seater loveseat, a chair, and a stool for the desk. Pic #6 shows it here: https://halfacts.com/4061-oosterdam/ The arrangement is more like a verandah than non-obstructed OVs (the bed is against the wall and not in front of the "window" which is actually a door that you can't open). I checked on cruisedeckplans, and you are right, the triple or quad may have a longer sofa (that makes a bed lengthwise) and possibly no chair, just a cube-stool for the desk. But during the day or when not needed, it is a sofa, not a 'daybed'. Really quite clever, we had one on the Zaandam when travelling with my mom. Good luck with your upgrade!
  9. I think the solution is to wait for Monday, for the (single?) IT person to reboot their system! It's not you; it's them.
  10. On the K'dam the "insides with a window" are 11057 and 11058. Here is the equivalent on the N.Statendam: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/11058-nieuw-statendam/
  11. Hi to you! Assuming you mean Christmas 2023, your Roll Call (where you "meet" people on your cruise) is here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2887986-december-19-2023-16-day-holiday-cruise/
  12. Deck 11 on the Zuidy is the Sports Deck. (Deck 10 is Observation Deck and home to the Crows Nest.) I am beyond happy that the hard-working crew have somewhere with open air (even if they use it to smoke!) to spend whatever time they have. The aft space where available is even better (see: smoking). Most passengers don't even know there is a forward deck on deck 11, unless they have a permit to the Retreat and then they wouldn't want to be on the open forward deck anyway. If any particular passenger never sees crew in the reserved area, it doesn't mean it isn't used OR appreciated. I am sure it is not staff shortages, except in the aspect of keeping staff happy to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week for 6 or so months at a time.
  13. Looked over my HAL cruise history, and turns out it was the Zaandam at 28 days, 2 cruises.
  14. The large insides (J and K's on the Main Deck) are phenomenal. Be careful, though, what they are under -- noise particularly bass notes from the bands, travels through the ceiling like it was in your room. https://halfacts.com/1048-eurodam/ https://halfacts.com/signature-class/1116-eurodam/
  15. Agree with @0106 (on all points). Pool-side drinks are priced by the liquor that is in them, and Roger's pic shows no Rum that is more than the Signature limit. (It seems that multiple liquor/liqueur drinks like White Russians are priced as the primary liquor, as WR is covered too.)
  16. Several of the thumbnail maps (Oosterdam and Nieuw Statendam in Mediterrean, July-November) are not aligned with the itineraries. Best to read and hope the written word is right.
  17. Sometimes Roll Calls are sleepy! But that is still where you look for people on your ship...
  18. Before the pandemic, I wanted two particular cabins on the Nieuw Statendam. It was a two-leg cruise, with each being sold separately, but the combined (collectors?) cruise was going to save me quite some money. The cabins showed as available on the separate listings but not the combined cruise. I called my PCC and explained the situation. She put me on hold and talked to Inventory, who changed the availability so the PCC could book me where I wanted! Unfortunately never got to do the cruise due to the shut-down...
  19. I bought the Catherine bouquet (red and pink Carnations) for embarkation day delivery on our B2B on K'dam last New Year's Eve. The first leg was 9 days followed by 7 days. The bouquet easily lasted through the 9 days and with a little stem trimming lasted at least half of the second leg. On our next cruise I will order early and nip those stems every couple days and see how long they will last!
  20. AFAIK all of those should transfer as long as your re-fare isn't becoming a Group or Casino fare. Those two types are having trouble getting the AARP credit. I also lost quite a bit of OBC when I switched from the 24-day Iceland to the Voyage of the Viking (which is obviously not the same as re-faring the same cruise!). I had booked the shorter cruise soon after our previous cruise and soon after buying the FCDs on that cruise, which might have added some too. Do not know where all the OBC had come from, but it wasn't the stockholder credit (hadn't added it yet). We lost $600 OBC, but got a sweet fare on the VoV so it comes out in the wash. ETA: The perks I referred to were those attached to your original booking, like maybe when you booked Crew Appreciation was included, but now when you want to refare it might not be. Or it could go the other way! But do the math.
  21. Yes indeed. RCI uses the smaller paper bag AND dictates that you put only specific things (teeshirts, underwear, PJs) in it. With HAL it's anything you can fit! Here is my list:
  22. I honestly would keep this otherwise perfect cabin. The worst that can happen is you go to exit your cabin and there is a steward fetching something from the closet in your way. They will move out of the way and apologize up and down! Closets do not produce noise that will come through the wall of your bathroom into your sitting area, into your sleeping area, at any "off" time of day or night. Who knows what you might move TO?
