  1. We also have an acquaintance that had them in their kids room and had to throw away mattresses and wooden bunk bed set. Then the sofa because the kids had went to sleep on it because they couldn't sleep in their beds. It cost them A LOT of money to get rid of them.

All I know is if I had real evidence that there were bed bugs in my room and they wouldn't move me, I'm gone. I would take all kinds of photos and videos and fight with the cruise line to get my money back. Now I don't have that kind of money to just flush down the tubes and the probability of getting my money back from the cruise line would probably be slim to none, but it would be cheaper then bringing them home with me and then trying to get rid of them.

  2. I have read on these boards numerous times that a certain number of cabins are kept empty for a variety of reasons. Ships show that they are sailing full but I'm pretty sure that at least once a cruise, someone will need to be moved for whatever reason.

I also believe that they do leave some empty rooms in case of emergencies where a person or family might need to be moved.

  3. Check the whole room, but especially the mattress and bedding. They are sometimes hard to find unless it's a bad infestation. You have to completely tear the bedding apart. We always start with the top layer and work our way down to the mattress.

What you are looking for are small blood spots and tiny brown spots. Look in the seams of the mattress and check around plugs in the wall as they will sometimes live in those and around pictures on the wall. Google info on bed bugs. They will tell you what to look for.

We also pack our clothes in compression bags and leave them in the suitcase. Not that we couldn't get bed bugs in the suitcase if there were an infestation in the room, but we figure it will make it harder for them to get into our clothes.

I know, a little extreme, but I have a phobia about bed bugs because they are so hard to get rid of once you have them.

  4. We carried our luggage off of the ship for the first time about 3 cruises ago. We loved it so much that that is the way we have done it since. We like not having to feel stressed about getting the luggage out in the hall way at a certain time and having to search for it when we get off of the ship.

So glad that you got your bag back and everything was okay!!

  5. I have been on Oasis March 2016 because was a gift, all places are very crowded. Nice ship a lot of things but 6000+ passengers is a lot of people.

I prefer smaller ships where you don't need to be in waiting in the line to enter the MDR, etc Also the service you receive is better. Splendour of the Seas was my favorite. Now will try Celebrity Eclipse only 2,800 Passengers

We were just on Radiance of the Seas in May. We had MTD and had to wait every night to be seated in the MDR. In fact we waited longer to be seated than we ever had to on an Oasis class.

Also, the service was not as good as the Allure, as far as we were concerned, especially the Guest Relations Desk which was absolutely awful. JMO

  6. I am alittle confused as what you are saying.

But rcl will hold your wine that was purchased in the MDR for your diner for the next night ,and they will put it on ice for you for the next night. So you do not have to carry it back to your stateroom if you only enjoy a dinner glass of wine if you bought it in the MDR no other fee will apply

All I was saying was that the $20 bottle of wine cost us $60 on Royal. Next time we bring our own.

They did hold our wine and bring it to us since it took us 3 nights to drink the whole bottle.

Could you bring the little Royal Caribbean corkscrew that they give you when you receive a bottle of wine as a gift? Just bring it on the next cruise?

  7. We just went with our 15 year old on the Radiance 9 day Alaska cruise. It was mostly port days, so lots to do and see. He loved it! He didn't even do the teen club. (Even though they were begging him to come since there were only 5 teens onboard, lol)

  8. If you want a St. Regis type experience, you would probably want to do a full suite (grand suite and above), if you can afford it. Although the price of those have seems to have gone up even more recently.

With the full suite you get the priority boarding and the concierge escorts you off of the ship on the day you get off (one of the best perks IMO), sections of seats that are reserved at the shows, a sundeck that is for suites only ( although not right next to the pool, but there is a shower to cool off), and access to the Concierge lounge where you can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the Coastal Kitchen, personal access to the Concierge if you have questions or problems, soda is available all day for free and wine and beer after 11:00. Drinks in the evening from 5:00 or so until around 8:30 are included. This was on the Allure. Not all of the ships have Coastal Kitchen.

We have done both regular rooms and the Grand Suite and (IF they are in our price range) we will do the suites just because of the perks.

We were just on the Radiance and it felt more crowded to me then the Allure and not as nice.

  9. The only thing about the combo tours is that you usually don't have a lot of time at Mendenhall.

We were there for 2-3 hours and we definitely could have stayed there longer if we didn't need to get back to the ship.

Check to see how long you would be there if you do the tour.

  10. AHAHAHAHA! So true!!!

But WOW! I was looking at the "gifts" section on the site. They're charging a particular bottle of wine delivered to your cabin for $75 - but it's $19.99 online!:o

The bottle we had was $60.00 plus a $10.00 "service fee" (gratuity) so $70 for a $20 bottle of wine from Bev Mo! Highway robbery. We only got it because we had a nice OBC. Next time we bring our own.

  11. Yes we do have the cable to hook up to the TV. We got it to use on the Allure, but we were just too busy to ever hook it up.

Okay, so we need the cable and universal remote it sounds like.

I think we will just have more time in the evening on this trip to watch movies. Smaller ship, not as much to do. We are not hang out in a bar type of people.

    Many thanks to everyone!
