  1. So very sorry to hear this news! So tragic and senseless!!

I guess the reason we haven't heard of it in the US yet is because the news here is all about the presidential inauguration.

Will be praying for everyone involved! So very sad! So sorry that this happened.

  2. Wow! Just Wow! Makes me so sad that Disney seems to just be about the $$$$ these days. One reason we don't have AP's anymore and can't afford Disney cruises any longer.

We sometimes use the DAS program at DL (for persons with disabilities) as my husband can't stand in line for long periods of time. I wonder how this will affect that.

  3. In his March 2016 trip report, Andrew (A&L_Ont) gives a very detailed description, with pictures, on how to hook up an iPad to the TV on the Allure with an HDMI cable. It is on page 42 of his report. I went back to find it because I had noticed it hooked up in a picture or a periscope that he had done and I asked him about it. Hope this helps!

  4. Harry, just to interject about the port area and the dolphin swim there.

While we did not do the dolphin swim there, we did walk past the area on our way back to the ship after our excursion, as I love dolphins and wanted to see them. The area there is pretty small ( as you probably know) and pictures could be taken quite easily of people that you know if they are doing the dolphin swim. There was also a rope bridge above the area that you could walk across.

Don't know if the person whose family will be doing this might want to try to hang out with the younger daughter and try to snap a few pictures or if that would be something that he thinks wouldn't work out. There were tons of people watching when we came back in the afternoon.

  5. We have also done Maho Beach in St. Maarten. Fun to do once or twice. The beach there was kind of steep down to the water.

We got to see a couple of big planes come in. If you do Bernards's Tours, they usually take you there. They try to time it so that you can see a large plane land, and maybe take off.

When the large planes take off it is amusing to watch the drunk people hang on to the fence behind the jet wash. I don't recommend trying it though! Lol!

  6. Harry, thank you so much for the great review! I read your Allure report also! I love detailed reports and lots of pictures, but to keep me reading there has to be humor! Thanks for the laughs! Life is too short. Laughter is a necessity!

We were just on the Allure for a 6 night that went to Costa Maya. We just did a snorkel/beach day. We don't like long tours but had I known that we could do the ruins in 4 hours or so, we would have done that. Oh well, something to remember if we ever go there again! Thanks again!

  7. Does anyone know who the Suite Lounge concierge/s will be for the January 15th sailing of Allure? Looking at the spreadsheet, Ana is disembarking that day and Dexter does not come back until the following Sunday January 22nd.

Just trying to get an idea of who we will have? Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

We are just off of the Allure on Sunday. Elaine and Nancy were the concierges in the Suite Lounge. Nancy said something about her husband being moved to the Allure, so she was moved to Allure also. They were both friendly and helpful. We were happy with them.

Nancy said that Ana is in the Diamond Lounge now. Since we are not Diamond level yet, we did not see her.

  8. My brain being what it is, I can't remember how you make phone calls when you have the complimentary Voom in a suite. My husband needs to use it to make a business call.

I know some of you have posted this information before. Could you explain the process again please? Thanks for the help!!!

  9. Hi there, we are on the same sailing as you!

Our favorite is Giovanni's. Sabor seems to be a favorite with a lot of people. We haven't tried it yet but are planning to this time. I would probably try Chops over Sabor though.

Are the hot rock plates still available on Allure? For some reason I thought they didn't offer that at Izumi on Allure anymore.

    Have a great cruise!

  10. That's right, forgot all about the basketball court, the ping pong tables, mini-golf, and there is a shuffleboard back by the aqua theater! My husband and son really enjoy the ping pong and the shuffleboard.(when it's not too hot back there at the shuffleboard). So,so much to do!! Love Oasis class!

  11. The Oasis class ships have so much to offer: flow riders, zip line, ice skating, rock wall, cool youth area to hang out in, Aqua theater with awesome Aqua show. (And of course Harmony has the Abyss and the water slides.) If you are more concerned about the kids being bored, I think you should pick one of these ships, the kids will love it!

If price is a concern pick Oasis or Allure as they are priced better right now. Just pick which port is more convenient for you.

If you aren't concerned with price or where the port is, I'd say go for the Harmony.

    Whatever you choose, have fun!!

Oh also, Giovanni's is our favorite specialty restaurant and Sabor seems to be pretty popular as well.

  12. We agree, Blue Planet was really strange. That is the one show we didn't repeat when we went on Allure the second time.

My husband is not a musical theater person but even he enjoyed Momma Mia. You should al least give it a try.

Ocean Aria is probably our favorite, though.

  13. I would get to the building where you are supposed to meet about 15 mins before your set time. We had to fill out some paperwork first.

It is follow the leader but they take you out quite a ways and over to a little bay. There is a leader and a local that acts as the back of the line to make sure everyone keeps up. We had a lot of fun and felt it was worth the price.

The only thing we didn't like was after you go over to the little Bay Area you stop and some locals come over on kayaks and try to sale you things. It was awkward and uncomfortable.

    Have fun on your cruise!

  14. Ten months ago a "cracked" writing unit was sent to the basement, after a tribunal of significant others and spouses declared that there was excessive CCing and periscoping - a crime they didn't commit. These men occasionally escape from their maximum security stockade, to the cruise world underground. Today, still wanted by their work, they survive as cruisers of fortune. If you have a the winter blahs and need a laugh, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can follow

Oh my gosh! So funny! I really don't know how you think of these things Andrew.

My son really liked this when I shared this with him. He just recently started watching the "A Team" on Netflix.

Thanks for the live review Ken, looking forward to it. Will have to follow along on Periscope!

  15. Yes we bring 2 swimsuits and some liquid Tide in the little travel size and wash them out in the sink in the bathroom, hang in bathroom to dry.

You do need to remember your room number as that is what you need to write down when you charge anything. Although I do forget it half the time because I know where my room is but don't think about the number. LOL!

Oh and yes, Nassau is not our favorite port. We have done 2 different excursions there and did not enjoy either.

  16. Are you sailing on Jan. 2? We will be on that 6 night sailing. It will be our 3rd time on the Allure. She is a beautiful ship!

As far as specialty restaurants, Giovanni's is our favorite. Great food and service and to save a little money, you can go for lunch instead of dinner. Maybe choose an evening after a busy port day to have dinner in the Windjammer at the buffet. That way you don't feel so rushed to get ready for dinner in the MDR. We did that on our last Allure cruise and it felt so nice to not feel so rushed to get everyone ready for dinner after a port day. We thought the food was good, although we still preferred the MDR.

Our favorite shows are the aqua theater show and the ice skating show. Although we did see Momma Mia and it was really good too! (Probably not for young kids)

I probably would not spend money on an excursion in Nassau. You can get off of the ship and walk around. As with any other tourist spot, just be aware of your surroundings. In Cozumel we went to Paradise Beach. It was a nice inexpensive beach day. The taxi was $15 one way. The admission fee at Paradise Beach was $3 per person and they ask that you spend $10 per person for food or drinks. That is not hard to do. They have a nice beach with loungers and shade. They have a nice big pool with more loungers and the bar is right there. There is an area out in the water with toys for people to climb/slide on. (Extra charge) I'm pretty sure there were jet skis to rent. They also have a pier that you can out on and a ladder to go out into the water and snorkel. We spent less than $80 for the 3 of us for the day. The facilities were clean. We have never been to Costa Maya before.

There is just so much to do! As someone else said, don't try to do everything. Make sure you have a few must do/see things, then if you have time, fill in with some other things that interest you. But, do make sure that you have some down time to relax and enjoy! Central Park is a nice place to unwind. They usually have some nice soothing live music playing there in the evening. The Trellis Bar there is a nice place to get a drink.

I hope that you and your family enjoy the cruise and the Allure! Like another person said, it can be addictive.
