Quantum & Ovation Plus - 30 Day Live (hopefully)
DaKahuna replied to bobmacliberty's topic in Royal Caribbean International
No big deal, I was just curious since Coastal Kitchen on Harmony is on the opposite side of where it is on Oasis and Allure. That was my first Royal Caribbean live review. My previous ones had been for sailings on Celebrity. I am hoping to do a live review on our February cruise on Harmony. -
If you booked direct with Royal Caribbean, call them and ask to be moved. Best is if you check available cabins by doing a mock booking and find one in the same category that you like and ask to be moved to a specific cabin number. IF you booked through a TA, have the TA call Royal on your behalf. Again, having a cabin you prefer that is showing available will help tremendously. Must be the same category as the assigned cabin.

Quantum & Ovation Plus - 30 Day Live (hopefully)

A couple of comments based on our recent Quantum cruise 1. I agree with you about Dazzles but we spent almost no time in the Music Hall. We hung out in the Schooner bar and really enjoyed a lot of upbeat music. While there was one classical pianist there were more performances that included tributes to Elton John, Billy Joel, and Neil Diamond. 2. I could not agree more about the configuration of the Grand Suites on Quantum. The lack of storage areas, especially around the sinks in the bathroom, did not go well with my wife. There were very few drawers in the bedroom area as well. 3. Is Coastal Kitchen in a different location on Ovation? The Coastal Kitchen on Quantum was on the starboard side of the ship. 4. I am torn on my opinion of the Suite Lounge on Quantum vs Oasis. Our favorite staterooms are those at the aft of the ship and my wife and I spent a lot of time during the day just sitting and relaxing in the Suite Lounge on Quantum. We found it a very nice , peaceful and relaxing place to simply hang out. Our experience on Oasis and Allure, all pre-COVID, was that the Suite Lounge was almost always crowded because of the bar being open 1100-2300. Also give then choice of a view of the wake versus a view of the children's pool/play area -- I'll take the wake view every time. I really enjoyed your review and pictures and what to say thank you for allowing me to follow along on your journey. -
Outside of the Diamond, Concierge, or Suite lounge I tip per drink. In the lounges I give a larger tip when first served. Very often at the end of the cruise if the service has been what I consider above and beyond, I will give a larger tip on the last night. The tip by drink is something I also do when in a bar ashore and I see no reason to treat bartenders and wait staff onboard any differently.

You should bring a bottle of Widow Jane to the next meeting. While the oak barrels are from the south, the product itself is from N Y. Tin Cup from Colorado is another one that I have been pleased with. A little more upscale from CO is also Stranahan’s Mountain Angel, but it's a single malt whiskey and not a bourbon so I am not sure it would qualify for your club. And last but not least, something sitting in my personal stash, Wigle Pennsylvania Straight Bourbon.

Not in the suite lounge. They will in the Diamond Lounge.

Google is your friend. https://cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/Ovation-of-the-Seas There is even a Youtube video link for a review of that cabin.

They are charged against your daily voucher.

Your cabin attendant will bring you a corkscrew if you do not travel with one.

The drink prices on a ship are pretty much on par with what you pay at a hotel bar, airport bar, or a resort.

Diamond drink coupon question
DaKahuna replied to Dred pilot Roberts's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have enjoy d the Conundrum. I had a sommelier substitute that for something covered when what I ordered was not available. I also like Opus One and Caymus. Having some OBC has enabled me to enjoy these a few times. -
Only if you drink your breakfast, e.g. screwdriver, Bloody Mary, etc.

Wine tasting on Harmony?
DaKahuna replied to BoatersOnABoat's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If it is not showing in cruise planner then ask your sommelier on embarkation day. -
It is not the best I have ever had but I also always order it served without the roll, e.g. lobster salad.
-
On our last cruise I had the spaghetti and hamburger from the kids menu a couple of times. I also thought the best deserts on the ship was the banana split and the chocolate brownie.

Thank you for confirming. -
I guess I am just thick. The part I am missing is that if I book myself in a room on a cruise and I book my wife in another room on the same cruise. We get points on both accounts for both rooms vice me getting points for my room and her getting points for her room? for example, I book a Junior suite for 7 days cruise, I will be 14 points. If my wife sails on the same cruise in a balcony cabin, she would get 7 points. Does that mean we both would have 21 points added to our account (14 + 7)?

Diamond drink coupon question

If I do not see a particular wine that I am familiar with, I will tell the sommelier what I like and ask her/him to choose for me. So far I have not been presented with a wine i did not like. -
I know == If this does not work, I try some other method. I have plenty of time !

We flew out of FLL this past October on the way home from a cruise. We were escorted to the TSA desk by the Clear person and all we had to show was our boarding passes.
