  1. I observed that many passengers didn't have a grasp of basic functions on their phones, such as putting it in airplane mode. Posters in this forum have reported not knowing where/how to download dinner menus. So I can see where an hour long class, including time for questions, is warranted.
  2. I frequently got food from the Asian station, but then I would go to the pasta station and sprinkle red pepper flakes on my food. I like it hot!
  3. It seems to be worse on the weekends.
  4. Yesterday I received an Explore With More Offer from HAL. Besides the usual suspects - free kids' fares, wifi, specialty dining, and beverage pkg. - it includes a $500 air credit on Europe cruises. I think this is the first time I've seen HAL offer an air credit.
  5. It says you don't have permission to share it at this location.
  6. They are only 100 square ft. and are inside cabins. 😲
  7. I received an email from Uniworld about 2 new ships - Victoria and Elisabeth. One goes into service in 2024 and the other in 2025. Are those the Crystal river ships?
  8. I found the food on my recent Noordam cruise to be no more bland than on previous HAL cruises.
  9. If you booked thru a TA, they may be able to arrange transportation for you.
  10. @Abe3689, you keep mentioning that food ingredients and items aren't fresh. Other than the eggs, what exactly isn't fresh?
  11. River cruises can turn into bus tours for a variety of reasons. It can be very disappointing, but Scenic got you to the places on the itinerary.
  12. I've found the food on HAL to be very fresh. Any specific foods that lack freshness?
  13. In fairness to the OP, I think the mac and cheese and chicken and waffles are pretty bad. I wouldn't give up on the entire cruise though.
  14. Tauck will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your hotel, even if you come in a few days early or don't book air through them. Make sure your flight info is up to date in your online Tauck account.
  15. Sometimes they have you retrieve your luggage and sometimes not. On my cruise 2 weeks ago we didn't have to do it coming or going. They want to keep people guessing for security reasons.
  16. I didn't realize you could switch back and forth. I thought if you missed your fixed dining time, you had to do the Lido or room service.
  17. I tried to explain that to a couple of people on my recent cruise, but they preferred to scream and yell and jump up and down at Guest Services. I feel so sorry for the staff that have to work that desk.
  18. @Coral, I haven't done this particular itinerary on Tauck, but their single cabins are fine and best of all, no single supplement. I used their air and found the fares to be very good. Last year was my first Tauck cruise, and I enjoyed it so much I came home and booked back to backs for this coming December.
  19. 2 weeks ago I had lunch in the Noordam's pinnacle grille and was not charged for regular coffee with dessert.
  20. Now that I'm retired I can arrive 2-3 days in advance, but when I was working that would use up too many vacation days.
  21. HAL contracts with a company to provide bus service between Seatac and Canada Place. You can book it online when you're in your HAL account. They also provide reverse service between Canada Place and Seatac. I've used Quick Shuttle in the past, but their current schedule doesn't work for me.
  22. On my most recent cruise, Vancouver airport wasn't the problem. It was Canada Place. That said, when I priced airfare, it was over $1,000 to fly to YVR vs. $519 on SW to Seattle. Even with the shuttle fee, it was still much less expensive to fly to Seattle.
