  1. My funny answering machine story: I worked for the postal service for over 30 years. Well, if you didn't use the 800-area code for FedEx and instead used the local area code, you reached my house. So, for quite a while my message said that you'd reached Loren and Susie's house where the Postal Service is our preferred shipper. And even then, people would leave their tracking number and ask where their package was! And when rotary dial phones were still in use, we had many 2 am calls for the local tow truck. Our number was one off from theirs.
  2. Another option, if you decide to stay downtown and don't have a lot of luggage, is to take the light rail from the airport (through the parking garage) to downtown.
  3. If you're not planning on seeing downtown Seattle, there are many airport hotels with shuttles. It's easy to go back to the airport to catch the HAL transfer the morning of the cruise departure. We usually find a decent price at one of the several Hampton Inns near the airport.
  4. I can't remember exactly which ships (guess I should keep a list) but we've found European outlets behind the head of the bed. The nightlight is usually plugged into this outlet. We either have a multiplug adapter or do without the nightlight.
  5. @kochleffelWe have a bit of a wait but our Nov.2, 2024 sails from Athens and one of the 1st ports is Kotor. After seeing all the photos I'm really excited about visiting!
  6. And besides the vanilla sauce, the addition of a rum caramel sauce tops it off very well!
  7. The military OBC on Princess is an automatic addition so hopefully HAL figured that out too. I did comment to the TA that I wish OBC was specified on our statement as to where it came from.
  8. I think it is. I called our big box TA to verify if the credit was still on our February cruise since we had made a couple of changes after applying. She checked with HAL and found it was also on the Nov. 24 cruise. I made that reservation less than a month ago.
  9. Hi Jacqui, thank you for keeping this listing up. We have the following scheduled: Feb. 25, 2023 Noordam 14 Day Australia & New Zealand May 14, 2023 N. Statendam 14 Day Voyage of the Midnight Sun Sept. 17, 2023 Noordam 14 Day Great Alaskan Explorer Nov. 2, 2024 N. Statendam 28 Day Adriatic Dream & Passage to America Thanks again! Susie
  10. There is another price category which isn't shown when you look at the HAL website. It's an Advantage fare which has a refundable deposit. The price is usually a bit more than the non-refundable fare but less than the HIA. You need to ask for it from your TA or HAL.
  11. I've recently transferred 3 cruises. The rules stated that you need to transfer within 60 days of booking, deposit has been paid and the full amount is not paid.
  12. @57redbirdThanks for another tour option. And the hip is doing well!! 16,000 steps while we were in Florence and Rome in November. Still can't believe how easy it all was-and thankful for that. (Of course, now a knee is giving me problems☹️)
  13. @kazuThanks - i know all about rehab from my other elbow surgery (more serious than this one.) at least i hope that one was more serious. This is part of the reason for my previous "zipper"reference. Glad you're home and can rest in your own bed.
  14. Thanks so much for your entertaining reports. Was the PV tour a ship's tour or private? Sounds like a great expedition when DD and DGD are there with me.
  15. So glad to hear that you are finally on your way home. Is this the same elbow or have you now "done in" your other elbow? Sounds like you need to stock up on zippers😲. Being selfish, I hope you don't give up on Norway. Good luck with your rehab.
  16. @ScrapnanaOh Kathi, While I'm glad they've figured out what was wrong, I'm sorry for all you have to deal with now. So glad you made it to Ft. Lauderdale. Did you hear Jacqui is in a Puerto Vallarta hospital with a broken elbow? I'm almost afraid to cruise again-but will definitely have insurance. Prayers and positive thoughts are flowing your way! Susie (aka South Pacific trivia). And I still can't make a comment on your blog. I keep getting an error has occurred message.
  17. Yes, very strange. Maybe it was just Alaska Airlines. Guess I will find out tomorrow morning.
  18. My niece-and next door neighbor-just finished the Rotterdam New Year's cruise and is sitting at FLL. She said planes weren't landing there so no planes to leave. She was supposed to arrive in Seattle around 8 pm, now she's scheduled for 3 am. 2 problems with that-1st, she can't check her luggage yet and not many food options before security. The other problem is the 1st ferry in the morning isn't until after 5 am so more waiting. We'll be up early to meet the ferry. She tried to leave from Miami but planes were delayed there too. Her cabin was very near where the refugee rescue occurred, so she did get some good photos.
  19. The adventure continues-thanks for the continuing reports. I’m just sorry that Kathi isn’t able to join you for trivia 😢. Have an amazing voyage.
  20. WOW! Amazing amount of time you’ve put into your blog and You Tube videos-thank you so much. Looking forward to reading about all your adventures.
