  1. We did this cruise last October so will be fun to relive it with you and also Gerry. Have a wonderful, calm sailing.
  2. It's funny-I was sad when the coin-op laundry facilities were no longer available but now we've booked a Princess cruise and realized I'll have to do my own laundry. HAL's laundry prices are so worth it!!
  3. Since you don't want to fly, have you considered taking the train to other port cities? I've heard several people mention taking the train rather than flying.
  4. @cruzin4us Thanks for the great report. My question is about the closet area in the cabin. We've only been on a couple of the older ships. Does the Discovery have the open area across from the bathroom like on the older ships? Love it so much better than the multiple closets on the Holland America ships. Thanks!
  5. You can call to see if it's available for your cruise. There are only so many openings so call soon. Have your booking number available. Club Orange-Upsell 206 626 7381 888 628 8107
  6. We have transferred a number of directly booked cruises to a big box store travel agency. (Does it start with a "C"?) I think I found a form on their website. It is correct that it must be done within 60 days of booking, not paid in full and before final payment. I think it took about a week to hear back. While you no longer get OBC, you do get "shop cards" for future use 2 to 3 weeks after you get home. We're getting $405 on a card for our next 14 day cruise.
  7. @Cruzin TerriDo you wear wrist splints at night? My doctor recommended them over 20 years ago and I wear them every night. So far, the carpal tunnel has not progressed to a point where I need more help. A little strange getting used to them at first but now I can't go to sleep without them.
  8. @StLouisCruisersI copied what is below from someone on another roll call. There is a YouTube video with more information. How Virtual COVID Testing Works With OnPoint.Health For us, we did the online proctor testing with OnPoint at $15/pp using the test kits from government/private insurance. The process was simple as you pay online and then set up an Zoom meeting online where someone watches you do a self test you got from government or private insurance. The results were delivered via PDF within the hour to print out to bring to the pier. So for anyone still looking on doing their pre cruise Covid testing, take a look at Onpoint Testing.
  9. @Julia’s Journey’sWe've tried several times to get to Morocco too. We're finally getting there next month (hoped I haven't jinxed that) on the Island Princess-Rome to FLL. I couldn't find any HAL cruises that included Casablanca as a stop. @ScrapnanaKathi, did your tour provide plenty of water or should we plan on taking a couple of larger bottles with us? Thanks!
  10. Did you try the link in the 1st post on page 1?
  11. Thanks for the report and photos. We'll be there in December, so this was very helpful. Can't wait! And glad you could get a nap on the bus ride.
  12. @Lady HudsonHappy Day! It's been a great week for birthdays! And it's raining-who would think we'd be happy to see the rain? It has been a nice, steady drizzle most of the day and the smoke in the air is mostly gone. We were afraid that if it rained too hard we'd have slides and washouts.
  13. @aliaschiefIs the service you used available in London and would it work to help us get to our flight to Rome? We have just over an hour and after what we went through there last October, I'm not sure we can make it. What should I search for using Google? Thanks so much!
  14. Great news on the negative test. Could you call again to see if someone else would test now? And they shouldn’t use a PCR test. That will be positive for quite some time. I 1st tested positive on Friday the 13th (May) and the PCR was still positive on June 6, 2 days before my hip surgery.
  15. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. It's been a busy day-coffee with friends this morning, lunch out with family and dinner with sister tomorrow night. @Seasick Sailorhope your day is wonderful too. Yum to meatloaf sandwiches with BBQ sauce. And I have an arugula story worthy of RedneckBob. I think it was a Carnival cruise. DH was inside getting his lunch and I was out on the pool deck ordering my prosciutto and arugula pizza. I was then heading inside to eat and going through the doors, the air is gusting and my arugula is flying everywhere, mostly into the pool. Luckily it was a bit late for lunch and no one saw my blushing red face. @StLouisCruisersso sorry to hear about your friend-such a sad accident.
  16. @richwmnGood luck with the Delta flight to Atlanta. We booked through Flight Ease from FLL to ATL for the end of our December cruise. So far it's been changed 4 times, getting later and later when we arrive. And we still have a 40 minute drive to DS's house. I finally gave up on that booking, cancelled it and went directly with Delta with a late morning flight. Hopefully it doesn't change too much. Enjoying your reports, thanks!
  17. @Seasick SailorWe are twins-tomorrow is my day too. My sister is taking us out for dinner. Love not having to cook.
  18. Well, it just reached 82 degrees-totally crazy for the Seattle area. We've had .25 inches of rain since the 1st of September, according to one website I just checked. Maybe on Friday we'll get enough rain to measure. And the smoky haze continues. It's so nice outside but it's hard to breathe I end up staying inside most of the time.
  19. Thanks for understanding. And agree about the smokers’ tables. Wish they were located about 2 decks higher. Will look for you on a future cruise with my breakfast in hand 🙂.
  20. Good guess on supernova. Never heard of France being “the Hexagon”. I hope you’re still feeling ok. More trivia later??
  21. Afternoon trivia time-although probably late night for you. Because of its six-sided shape, what country is known as "the Hexagon"? What is the explosion of a star called? What is the chemical symbol for copper? I'll check in later with answers. 😊
  22. First of all, I want to say I'm enjoying your reports. That said, I've been debating whether to comment about the tables outside the Lido buffet. That is also our favorite place to have breakfast. I was a little disappointed when you mentioned that you spent all morning there after finishing your meal. I might have been giving you the evil eye if there weren't other tables available. I can understand enjoying the area after the breakfast hours are over. Not trying to be snarky so I hope this doesn't offend-just wanted to offer another view of the situation. Thanks.
